Fantastic!
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I mean, hello. It's one of the greatest movies of all time. It really deserved to get this kind of treatment. Given the age of the source material, the greatest compliment I could give this version is that I never once found myself distracted by the quality of the transfer (video or audio). I mean, no, it's never going to be the latest Jurassic Park 4K transfer, but this in my opinion is the best that 2001 has ever looked on my home theater.

Masterpiece
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Probably the greatest sci-fi film of all time, this movie still holds it own to this day, hard to believe it has been 50 years since it graced the silver screen, This film is about an artifact known as the Monolith, and a homacidal computer named Hal 9000 aboard a spacecraft that tries to kill his crew, lone astronaunt Dave Bowman must survive the rouge maniac computer, and unlock the mysteries of the Monolith to find out the secret it contains inside.

The greatest sci-fi in 4K
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you're looking at this product then you probably already know about the movie so I"ll get to the specs. The picture is perfect in 4K. They really took care of the transfer and the picture is sharp and the colors are spot on. The only con is that it doesn't support Dolby Atmos but that's not too bad. This is the best version of the movie you can get at the moment.

The Definitive Version of Kubrick's Masterpiece
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.OMG! I cannot believe the picture on this 4K version. It looks like a brand new film. The sound is incredibly immersive. It's truly a sight to behold. Extras are priceless and package design is definitely a collectible. The best 4K presentation I have seen so far, and for once in the correct picture aspect ratio. Don't know why it is so hard to find in stores. Keeps selling out everywhere. I got lucky with only two left when I got to Best Buy.

Best Sci-Fi of All Time
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I fell in love with this move when it first released in the late 60's and it was an inspiration that inspired my long career in IT. While I own previous releases, I've always sought the visual and audio WOW effect I experienced in the cinema so many years ago. This latest release propels this classic movie ever so close to that goal. If you've seen it, get this version. If you haven't seen it, what are you waiting for?

Best UHD version of this classic movie yet!
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It is amazing how this movie has held up to scrutiny 50 years after it's initial release. While you would need a huge curved projection screen to recreate the impact this film had while being seen in the super wide screen theaters of the time, this 4K release brings the closest approximation to a home theater set up. Sad that in 2019, we are so far behind Arthur C. Clark's inspiring vision of the future of space exploration.

A Masterpiece Release for a Film Masterpiece
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've been waiting for this release since I got to see the restoration in IMAX earlier in 2018. The home media version doesn't disappoint, with the amazing new 4K transfer and the bonus of including both the remixed 5.1 and the original 70mm stereo surround audio presented in 5.1 The packing is also a step above of most modern releases, being housed in a nice box with some display cards. I can't recommend the film enough, nor this release.

First time seeing it, lives up to hype
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I never got around to watching this one after so many years (I'm not good with watching old stuff, no matter how "classic" or "quintessential" it may be) but after the credits rolled I understood why so many people consider it such an achievement. The special effects hold up really well, Kubrick's techniques are on full, glorious 4K HDR display, and the story itself is timeless. Highly recommend also for the special features!

The New Standard for 4K Releases
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Warner Brothers should be highly commended for their fantastic restoration and remastering of one of the all time greatest SciFi films ever made. In addition, the slight errors in visual effects which became apparent on prior releases have been fixed too. What you end up is a version of the film despite being 50 years old is like seeing it for the very first time. This is the film that should be in every 4K movie collection.

Visually Stunning
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It's really hard, nowadays, to avoiding "double dipping" on films. You watch the film on one format a few times, and then an upgrade comes along a few years later, on yet another format. The 4K for 2001 is simply amazing. The film can seem boring to some, I get that. My 12 year old gave up on it after 30 minutes. You have to be in the right mood for this masterpiece. The 4K really does the amazing special effects justice.

Absolutely stunning 4K remastering.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This film is monumental. This film is groundbreaking, even today. For years, film makers have looked to Kubrick for answers to many questions. I suggest you simple enjoy this beautifully 4K remastered version of one of the director’s best and most important films as kubrick’s thought process is beyond us all; a true genius in his art. If you are lucky enough to find the steelbook version of this, BUY IT. Just do it.

Finally in HD
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. One of the greatest classics finally comes in HD. Comes with both the 4K and Bluray copies and a digital copy if you need it, so many ways to watch. I was glad I skipped the Bluray version about a year ago and was able to get this 4K version for almost the same price. The only thing that would have made this better if if they had made the cover HAL instead of Dave, but I'm just nitpicking now.

Another must have…
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you collect physical discs then this needs to be on your shelf. Excellent visuals. Physical discs currently trump streaming for audio/video quality. Get it.

"My God Its Full Of (4k HD) Stars"
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.2001 on 4K HD is probably almost as mind blowing now as the original release was to theatre goers back in the 60's! It absolute pops off the screen and the audio was superb also. The extras are outstanding and a must watch in my opinion. The steelbook packaging is also a nice addition to the overall product. This is a must own movie for all serious film enthusiasts ( of course you already know that).

Reference quality. A must buy.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Is the end of the road near? I've bought this on VHS, laserdisc, HD DVD and now 4K UHD. I can't imagine this movie ever looking or sounding better. If you're a Kubrick fan, or a fan of great cinema period, this belongs in your collection. I have read Warner Bros. made an 8K scan of the original negatives. Someday, if there's a successor to 4k UHD, I'll be buying this movie again with pleasure.

Great film, beautiful remaster!
||Posted . Owned for 3 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. One of the most influential films to modern science fiction. Kubrick’s Classic in Beautiful 4K!
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.“2001: A Space Odyssey” is a film that inspired countless filmmakers and without it, the face of cinema would be very different today. With this movie, Kubrick aims to make us feel the true majesty of space exploration while also showing us where humanity might end up if we continue looking to the stars. Now, you can see this masterpiece in glorious 4K! Highly recommended.

An Odyssey
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Film came out in 1968 but, excluding the hairstyles, it looks like it was made in the current year, no matter what year it is. Better than many science fiction films that came decades after it.

Like you've never seen it before
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My jaw dropped the entire movie, this transfer is like seeing 2001 for the first time. The clarity is amazing. The mother of all science fiction movies, every sci-fi movie since owes something to this one. A subconscious odyssey beyond the infinite. Watch it with every door shut and every light off and no interruptions, then marvel at cinematic perfection from the masters Clarke and Kubrick.

Stunning Visions of the Future
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. As is the case with all of his feature films, this motion picture by Stanley Kubrick is a certified classic. Slow burning intensity that leads to a mind-bending finale, this eccentric and nuanced vision of a future that may or may not come to pass is the ultimate mind-trip presented here in excellent HD clarity and sound! Trust me: blast this sucker on top volume and let your mind flow free!
