A good deal from Best Buy for a Rush album that would be marked up in price from other retailers

    Life Changing Music (No, Seriously)

I bought this album at an actual Best Buy store - you know, back when Best Buy actually stocked their music shelves with a huge variety of music, not just teeny-bopper and wannabe-Gangsta junk - about six years ago. I was familiar with Rush from the songs I'd heard on the radio and some fiddling around on YouTube, but I was not familiar with the epic 2112 until I saw a documentary about it on TV. This piqued my interest, and I was determined to go out and buy a copy. Fortunately, there was one at my local Best Buy. This album literally changed my life. Before this album, I wasn't really into prog at all. I thought it was just some dreamy, idealistic junk with boring mellotrons and dumb fantasy lyrics. Because of this album, I fully immersed myself into Rush, which is now one of my favorite bands (I'd put them in my top 5), and the prog genre in general. Because of 2112, I discovered perhaps the greatest music genre that has ever been conceived. It doesn't matter whether you like prog or not, this album is a MUST for any fan of music. 2112 just might be the greatest song ever composed and performed. The rest of the songs are OK as far as Rush material goes, but the epic, 20+ minute title track is worth the price alone.

Rush is superior in every aspect with "2112"!

Rush "2112" is the embodiment of what and how Progressive Hard Rock is and should sound like. From the layered textures of bass & percussion with "The Temples Of Syrinx" to the heavily emotional, moving and touching ballad "Tears", this album is a masterpiece for all time. Geddy Lee truly proved how talented a lyricist he is with "Tears". "The Twilight Zone" does bestow the lyrics, mood and musical atmosphere that befits it's title. "Something For Nothing" is a tremendous Rock track exploding with pure Rush originality. Geddy Lee is perfection on vocals & bass, with Neil Peart implementing a monumental mixture of rhythmic beats on drums that gives "2112" it's unique progressive dimension. Alex Lifeson only serves to drive "2112" into a progressive plateau of dreamy Rock wonderment, with his signature guitar sounds. Released in 1976, "2112" has proved it is a Progressive Rock album for the ages. I recommend "2112" by Rush to all Rock fans of any genre, without hesitation. The liner notes are 3 pages of complete lyrics with a few photos of Rush.

once heard the 2112 'side one' will never be forgotten. listen w/o distraction for maximum benefit...'side 2' (for us old-schoolers) is a treat as well. classics glitter like diamonds: the eerie Twilight Zone to the final cut Something For Nothing. from top to bottom this is a 5-star crown jewel for Lee, Lifeson, and Professor Peart.

Always enjoyed their radio hits, so thought I'd give this album a try. It did not disappoint. Very solid progressive rock album, and certainly the one to start out with if you are just getting into Rush.
