Our refrigerator ice maker quite working so we went out and bought this one. We selected the small size and about 6 minutes it dropped out 9 ice rounds. Before we knew it the little tray was full. We scooped out some ice and it started making more ice. Bottom line it works so well that when our refrigerator maker started working we still use this one. The rounds (because they aren’t cubes) are soft enough that you can just eat them. The only irritating thing is after the sit for a while the rounds seem to freeze together, but you can deal with it. Also makes strange noises. We love it.

Awesome bit of tech! For the refrigerator without an icemaker this is ideal. It recycles water (from melting cubes) and can continuously produce ice cubes after an initial 10-15 minute warm-up. Discard the first few baskets as indicated, and it takes a few hours before the metalic and/or plastic taste goes away. Takes up a bit of counter space, but well worth it. Love it!!

Was purchasing bags of ice from the convenience store when my ice maker went out in my refrigerator freezer... Bought this and am now using those bags to put some extra ice in my larger freezer (over the course of 3 days, I put 40 lbs in my larger freezer, five 8lb bags), while also using for my daily use in between. This way, I will have extra just in case I have a large group over or need to fill my ice chest. As far as price, I've already covered my purchase price of this ice machine in what I would have continued buying from the convenience store. Love the compact size of the ice machine (rectangular instead of square as it takes up less room on my counter) as well as the size of the "larger" ice cube setting. Very easy to use and actually I was surprised at how quiet it is! I calculated out the time and how much it was producing and it makes about a pound an hour and drops 9 cubes roughly about every 10 minutes (78° temperature in my home)... very very pleased! I did purchase the 2 yr warranty for $9.99 as the sales associate told me that if it quits making ice, they would replace it with a new one... can't beat that deal at all!

I’ve only used this for two days but so far so good. It only spits out 9 cubes at a time but it happens every 8 minutes. At first I didn’t think that was a lot but it’s actually enough. I focus on work for a bit, and when I turnaround the gray is full and I can fill up a 30oz tumbler. I purchased this to use at work and I share it with a coworker. And we have enough. We may even start to put the extra in baggies in the freezer so we can get ahead of it. It’s not noisy at all. What you hear for a quick second is the ice dropping in the the plastic tray when it’s ready. There are two cube size options. I have it set to the small size. Time will tell how well this holds up, but so far so good.

This ice maker is great to use as a back up ice maker. If Your main ice maker can’t keep up with your demand this ice maker is great for back up. The ice is made fast and continuously. It can be used any where there is an electrical outlet and a flat surface.

When I bought this unit, I'll admit I was drawn into the "26 pounds of ice per day" declaration. I'm a retiree who goes to the local park every day to watch the pickup basketball games, and I fill up my cooler with ice and bottled water for the players on hot days. I was buying bags of ice from the market on the way to the park, which cost me $10-$12 per week. So when I saw this unit on sale, I surmised that it would pay for itself in a few months. Well, it appears this ice maker needs to be babysat in order to produce the promised yield. Given the size of this thing (the size of a carryon bag!) one would think that it was capable of holding quite a bit of ice; not so. After producing a medium sized mixing bowl amount of ice, it needed to be emptied before it would generate any more ice. So, in order to fill even a small cooler's worth of ice, you have to wait for the bucket to fill with ice, empty the bucket, bag the ice, store it in the freezer, add more water to the unit, repeat. It's less aggravating and much faster to just grab a bag from the store. I'm not saying this product is not without merit, I'm just saying if you regularly want large amounts of ice, this may not be the unit for you. If you are having a get together and require a steady flow of cubes for the event, this thing is right up your alley. But given it's very large size, it's not something you'll leave on your counter when not being used, so check your cabinet space. However, if you're the type of person who'll even consider buying something as unidimensional as this, you probably already have your cupboards (and closets, basements, attics...) filled with seldom used items: toaster ovens, waffle irons, Foreman grills, deep fryers, rice cookers, bread makers, cappuccino machines(?!), you get the point...(I'm not just a member, I'm the president!). It's a cool item (yeah, I saw the pun as I wrote it), and it works wonderfully, so I gave it four stars, but given its meager output and its need for constant attention to get large amounts of ice, and because it'll be the third largest appliance in your kitchen, I deducted a point.

I'm a mail carrier for the United States Postal Service. Because of my mail route, I'm outdoors any where between 4 and 6 hours. During the summer, I have to drink lots of ice water to stay hydrated which means I go through a lot of ice. That's why I bought this ice maker. This machine will make enough small bullet shaped ice cubes in 2 hours or less to fill my ice bucket and last me 3 or 4 days. I've been really pleased with it in this way as it saves me a lot of hassle having to fill ice cube trays and check on them to see when the ice is done. Also, the machine is very easy to use. You fill the water reservoir underneath the ice cube basket, turn the machine on, select which size of ice cube you want and the machine starts making ice cubes. The machine will stop making ice cubes when the ice cube basket is full or when it gets low on water in which case a red light will come on telling you the machine needs more water. The machine comes with an ice cube scoop as well as the mentioned basket. Another thing I was pleased about was it's price. I bought it during a Memorial Day sale and got $30 off which made this machine even nicer. A couple things I would like to point out with this machine. First, you'll need to run it a little while before it'll make the ice cubes it's capable of making. The first ice cubes will be rather poor. Second, the machine doesn't do a good job of keeping the ice cubes cold. This causes them to melt with the water going right back into the machine's water reservoir. If you want to have a good supply of ice cubes, you'll need to pull them from this machine and put them in the freezer to keep them from melting. Overall, I am very pleased with this machine. I got it for a great price. It makes ice cubes very quickly (9 small cubes in under 10 minutes) saving me lots of hassle and, it doesn't take up that much space. I would definitely recommend this machine to others.

My vision was to never fill ice trays again, so I wanted my own ice machine. I started the machine up to test it out and the first batch of ice was done in 7 minutes. Then another batch in another 7 minutes, and so on. After a few batches, I realized this was not going to be for me. The benefit of a built in ice maker is that you continue to build up ice in a frozen environment then the ice is always waiting for you. With this, it sits on the counter, so any ice produced immediately starts melting because it’s ejected to room temperature. Sure, the drippings go back in to be recycled into a future batch, but basically the machine is in an endless cycle, constantly making noise. So after running several test batches, I realized that wasn’t what I was looking for so I boxed it back up and returned it that same day. Did it work? Yes. But did I want a large appliance sitting on my limited counter space making constant noise? No.

Best $99 spent in a long time

After paying more than $100 per call for three service calls to fix an issue with a leaking refrigerator ice maker, I decided to try this cabinet top unit instead of calling a forth time. Best decision ever. This little ice maker is a big surprise and delight. In about four to six hours it makes all the ice we use in 24 hours. I do have a couple of tips which I learned and they really do make a big difference between being highly satisfied and not too impressed with this portable ice maker. First, the unit just gets better at making ice the longer it goes. So do not expect much from it the first half hour or so. It is a small unit and takes four or five cycles for the rear prongs to get really cold and make nine large cubes. So don't be disappointed when only four or five small cubes fall out the first couple of cycles. Trust me, in about forty five minutes when the unit has fully cooled it will be dropping nine large cubes every six to eight minutes. Second, while you probably will store the unit on a kitchen counter, when you want to make ice, pull the unit from under any overhead cabinets which might trap hot air exhausting from the heat exchange and increase the temperature around the unit while it is working. I turn mine sideways so the exhaust fan blows into the room and away from the unit and far enough out so the door swings up without hitting the cabinets overhead. The lower the temp around the unit and the cooler the water you add to the reservoir, the faster it will make ice. I use water directly from my fridge ice water dispenser, reducing the amount of heat the unit has to pull from the water to produce ice. Third, I move the "cubes" from the basket to a rigid plastic food storage container which I then place on a shelf in the fridge freezer. I actually use two of these and combined they are just the right volume to replace the cubes pulled from the fridge ice maker storage bin over 24 hours. The family just dispenses ice the same as if the fridge ice maker was producing the ice. The cubes move by auger to the drop and fall out just like "regular" cubes. There is one important caveat to this happening. Each time the basket fills, you need to stir the cubes already frozen in the plastic storage container with a wooden spoon or a utensil then add the newly made (wet) cubes because the cubes come from the ice maker with moisture on them and will freeze together when put in the fridge freezer in the container. If you stir the cubes each time you add to the container and again before you pour the container into the fridge ice dispenser drawer, the cubes will freeze as separate cubes (pretty much) and not as one big ice block. Do not pour freshly made cubes directly into the fridge ice drawer or the new (wet) cubes will freeze together with the cubes in the drawer. It sounds like work but is really is not. It actually is kind of therapeutic stabbing the cubes in the plastic container each time to separate them. So just fill up the ice maker reservoir, turn it on and go watch TV for an hour. Then when you get up for a snack or whatever, swing by the ice maker and move the new cubes to the plastic container. Repeat until you fill your container(s). Once a day stir the cubes in the plastic containers and dump them into your fridge ice dispenser drawer. Easy peasy.

I bought this for my wife for her birthday as she has long wanted an ice maker like this. She loves it! It works great. Makes ice quickly. Easy to use. Makes some noise but it is not that big of a deal. It’s a great addition to your kitchen or bar when you need some additional quick ice for cocktails for you and your guests. Get one!

We bought this so we didn't have to use city water for our ice. We can fill this machine with a bottle of spring water. You need to understand that the ice that is turned out is still wet. The compartment that holds the ice is not refrigerated, it's just well insulated. The ice container tray allows for any water to drain off and to be recycled. This machine is fast and great for parties and entertaining guess. Just scoop the ice on demand. It's really not noisy, it sounds like a printer when it dumps ice. My wife said the ice is great for crunching! Turn off your refrigerator's ice maker and turn this on when you need ice.

I bought this item because my refrigerator ice maker stopped producing ice. This unit works like magic, creating several ice cubes every 4 minutes or so. I fill my ice bin in the freezer up and don't use this until more ice is needed. It's easy to use, fits in tight places, and a great overall value.

This ice maker looks pretty and is very efficiently making ice. It takes only a few minutes and you can enjoy your first glass of an ice cold soda, full of ice cubes. This is our second ice maker from the same brand. Our first one lasted for 4 years of non stop use. My family uses ice cubes even when it's cold. Our first icemake of this brand made many, many thousands of ice cubes, and I'm sure this one will too. It is really nice as an additional ice maker too, even if you have a built in one in your refrigerator/freezer. When you have a big family like me, you can use an additional ice maker, or if you give parties, you can never have enough ice for all these drinks on a hot summer night. I can really recommend this ice maker. It is a very good one for a great price.

I bought this ice maker using the reviews that I read. I had researched a lot if different brands but this one has the best reviews. We use it in our travel trailer. We went on a two week vacation and never had to buy ice. I have found that if you make the small cubes you can do two batches in the time it takes to make batch of large cubes. It only makes 9 cubes at a time so it isn't a quick process but while I was making dinner or just hanging out at the campsite I would would let it make as much as it could. After a couple of batches I would put them in freezer bag and continue making more. So far I have used it every day of our vacation.

Picked this up having low expectations. 1st run ice came out in about 8 minutes then every 4-6 minutes for large ice every until the tray got full. It is quick and not that noisy. Loudest sound is when the ice drops and gets pushed into the basket. So far I am extremly happy!
