Wanted a compact flash to provide extra distance flash shots. Great value and compactness. I really like the bounce flash and wasn't expecting this feature. No frills or bulky fancy features; just a great little straightforward flash that performs well.

Good for Close Indoors and Fill-in Flash

I bought it for my Canon SX10IS, still an excellent P&S Bridge camera. Obviously it can be used with any Canon SX (say SX20IS, but not SX30IS) or Canon G (G9, G10, G11, G12) P&S camera with a dedicated hot-shoe, as well as with with any Canon DSLR. I prefer it instead of the built-in unit, because it adds little to the weight of the camera, it is more powerful, and it is less close to the lens. I use it primarily for fill-in flash outdoors in back-lit situations, and indoors, when I shoot a few people at close range. For large groups, weddings, photojournalism a more powerful unit, perhaps mounted on bracket is necessary ... but, I seldom find myself in such situations (smile !). Solid built, compact, lightweight, recharges fast,, and, of course it is capable of TTL flash out put control with Canon Cameras.

    Does its job

Bought this on sale-it was a good buy for a Canon-branded flash. I use it with the original Digital Rebel (2004-5). It works fine for its purpose. Lights up inside shots and fills in outdoor shots. I have found it is not a fix for all dark shots or for the failings of the internal flash on the camera. I feel my indoor shots still need to be adjusted in software-I use Picasa- to add lighting. However, the amount of fill light that I have to add through software is much less than when I shoot with just the internal flash. Also, I note that the flash allows me to shoot at a much lower ISO setting indoors. Consequently, when I add fill light in the software, the result is much better. Adding fill light at a high ISO makes it grainy, at a low ISO gives a good result. Bottom line, it was a good value. It does add significant weight to the camera.

    Excellent Flash for natural light

I have taken pictures with the pop up flash and with the external flash I have to say, you can definitely see the difference. The pop up flash casts a background shadow while making the subject look like a deer caught in headlights. The External flash gives a nice, equal look to the picture when you bounce the flash off the ceiling or walls. A diffuser works wonderfully on this if your shooting directly at the subject with the flash.

    Fantastic Flash at Fantastic Price

A very basic (although it does have a tilt and zoom head) flash unit for a great price. Great for the Rebel line of DSLRs. Fast enough refresh rate to match the 5 FPS of an advanced DSLR. Long life using AA Lithium disposables.

I like the compact size and felt the price was reasonable. The range of the flash is not as good as I thought it would be. But it has enanced taking pictures in dimly lit places.

Bought the flash with my Canon G11. Definitely enhances the picture and worth the price. I was even able to lit up a completely dark garage completely. The tilting head is nice. If you are buying a smaller camera like the SX series of Canons with the hot shoe or the G11 it can really help with the large oversized ones meant more for SLRs.

I purchased this flash to use with a Canon G-12 camera. It is a perfect size for this camera and works very well. I'm enjoying using them together.

Just got this flash for Christmas. Wanted it for the kids inside sports and school concerts. Seems to really work great. Flash is bright enough to help with the pictures, but not too bright to distract people/players.
