While the original 300 could be considered a modern classic, 300: Rise of an Empire doesn't quite reach that mark. Taking place roughly the same time as 300, Rise of an Empire takes us mostly onto the seas. Visually stunning and highly entertaining, it's an excellent follow up to 300.

This sequel to 300 was a great movie! I especially loved how it filled in a lot of the blanks in 300 by showing what happened before, during, and after the events of 300 from the perspective of the rest of the Greeks fighting the Perians, as well as Xerxes's backstory. And it's not just the story line that made this movie great, though it was a major factor, but the acting, directing, and everything else combine to make a film worth watching!

This movie is a good continuation of 300. It tells the story of Themistocles (actual Greek) who fought the Persians at sea, whereas 300 focuses on lionidas. It is a good movie to have in your dvd/Blu-ray collection. Eva Green is just so good in this as well.

You may not like it as much as the first but you have to remember is part of a continuing story. With that being said, I found it awesome as well as wanting. Very good movie but not great. Which for me, means I've watched it 4 times and will watch it a few more times.... at least ;-)

I was actually a bit disappointed when I saw this at the theatre, mainly due to my expectations of it being more like 300 with its land battles. Seeing it again on Blu-ray with fresh eyes and no expectations, I enjoyed the movie for its own merit and found it much more entertaining.

sequel to 300. this is one good sequel to a movie.action picks up the original ended.acting is outstanding. new cast members plus some from the original. eva green is just brilliant as the army leader.lena headley is outstanding as the queen. the men are buff and skilled. but the women are excellent.this is a must see movie. photography is excellent. solid plot. recommend to all who like action and a good plot. plus plenty of blood and gore.

Though 300 punched you in the face with it's blood and guts action, rise of an empire does continue that journey...while it's difficult to duplicate the original and if you can ignore some history misrepresentation, you'll still find this Greek warrior film to be enjoyable.

Better acting in first 300,though the binding of the two stories was perfectly executed. Considering thee imagination of the plot , fight scenes and naval battles brought great character to the film making up for some of the acting,but nevertheless I recommend highly this film.

The action is great. Its on a whole new level, meaning that instead of the battles on land there in the sea which gives the a whole scale of the battle. I know both movies had a narrative to them which told the story, but telling the story took long too away from the movie.

The action in this movie is fantastic however the storyline was confusing because parts of the storyline should have been introduced in the first movie. I watched the movie on my 70" Sony 3D television. I felt like I was in the movie and something I could feel the action.

I love this movie. Could not wait for it to come out on DVD. The only thing that is frustrating is when you download a ultra-violet didital copy you have to also download flixster app on your device. Once you do that you have to wait (again) for the movie to download to your device, so it's double waiting time for download which is frustrating. Maybe there is an easier way to download digital copy, but I have not found it yet.

Didn't compare to the original movie 300 in suspense but was very good to see more of the background of the overall battles and where each group would have been at the time of the original 300. Seeing what happened in the beginning filled in many gaps. It is worth seeing.

Like the first 300, this installment has a very high definition, almost cartoonish quality to the CGI. it reminds you of watching a love action comic book. Some people love it, others don't. The movie had a decent plot and was an acceptable sequel to the original 300.

If you liked the first one, you might like this one. It's inferior in many ways, but I found it enjoyable enough (the perfectly cast Eva Green certainly elevates the film whenever she's onscreen). The special features are mediocre at best, but still worth a check.

My husband is Greek & I bought this movie for him for Christmas,although we'd seen it before,it was very good so I know that was one of his favorite gifts he'd gotten...it was based on history & was very well executed!!! Acting was very good as well!!!

Good moving as long a you can overlook the excessive amount of blood that's let loose from even a small wound. In some cases it seems there is more blood than the entire body can hold. Action is good and looks like they paid some attention to historical accuracy.

I was happy with this movie, but it wasn't QUITE as good as the first one. The acting is decent, Eva Green is awesome, but it lacked in a plot in comparison to the original. The violence and gore is its saving grace and the film is worth watching for that alone.

I didn't see 300 Rise of an Empire in the theaters because I thought that it really wasn't going to stand up well to 300. I'm disappointed that I didn't see it in the theater because I personally really like this movie and it makes me hold hope for a 300 part 3.

300: Rise of an Empire continues the story after the Spartans had fought the Persians and Xerxes army... This film focuses on a female lead and the Greeks in ship battles. It has a plot mainly looking at navigation war tactics.. The hunchback makes a return and I enjoyed the origin story of Xerxes. Hoping for another film in the franchise. The action was very well done and the battle scenes left me speechless!

Like most sequels this one is not nearly as good and the action is a bit predictable. Acting not as all that great. On the other hand, movie does flow pretty well, continuing off where the previous one stopped. Worth a watch if you enjoyed the first movie.
