The 3000 series trimmer comes with nothing but a charger and the removable guard that moves to either lengthen or shorten whiskers or other hair depending on a setting chosen via a rotary "wheel" with numbers indicating the chosen length. It's a less-expensive scaled-down version of other models priced higher. This model is plain black, and has a rubbery-like textured surface making it easier to grip and not slip out of your hands. It did a great job of bringing goatee and mustache to my desired length, and the whiskers looked even and neat. The blades are very much like a miniature hair cutting trimmer meant for the head, and some care should be taken when using the trimmer with the adjustable guard removed. The user manual folded up and included warns that without the guard every bit of hair is removed. You should also realize that delicate skin near your ears or mouth could be vulnerable to the sharp little blades. I am happy to add this trimmer to my arsenal of whisker maintenance tools, and the price should make others happy also.

Good idea but the shaver is not good and actually unsafe in my opinion. Should come with an extra guards in case you lose it.

Unless you want to look like a lumberjack, having a trimmer is something that a goatee/beard will need at least every once in a while. This trimmer has a 90 minute battery life in addition to a dial that lets you set the length of the cut "by the number". This is a great addition if you ever want to do a "fade" or other graduated trim of your facial hair. I've only gotten to use the trimmer once, but it made for a clean, even cut of my beard - what more could you ask for? I would definitely recommend this trimmer to anyone who is looking for one - it does the job, does it right and comes from a company that has been around for a long time - what's not to love?

The Philips Norelco 3000 series Beard Trimmer provides a quality trim for facial hair without breaking the bank. Right off the bat, I should note this is a fairly basic trimmer. But it does have some nice features. The Lift & Trim Comb slots in easily and works well. There is a dial on the trimmer that sets the length of the trim by raising or lowering the comb. It is easy and intuitive to use. The trimmer itself is battery-powered, so you can charge it and then not worry about cords. The rubberized grip feels comfortable and easy to hold. It has a serious look that indicates it means business. As for how well it trims, in a word - excellently! In anticipation of helping me test the trimmer, by 20-year-old son went a couple of weeks without shaving. By the time I placed the trimmer in his hands, he was looking quite scraggly. But the little 3000 trimmer proved more than ready for the challenge. Note, it is not waterproof, so don't try to use it as a wet shaver. If you're looking for a terrific trimmer at a reasonable price, I can confidently recommend this little guy to you.

The Norelco 3000 is great for those that have short or medium (like me) length beards! At no point was there any tugging or pulling when trimming. A definite plus for me is there isn't a need for a bazillion different sized attachments for length selection. It is all included with a special dial on the product itself. It appears to be very sturdy with enough "heft" in the hand to know that this is a quality product. Also the rubberized grip keeps it safely in my hand. With my medium sized beard, I find that dialing in the length at 6mm was about perfect. And there is no need to worry about the blades becoming dull, as they are self sharpening! This is definitely an upgrade to my old (non-wireless) beard trimmer. If you have a small to medium in length beard - I don't see why this would not also work for you. Norelco has proven again that it makes a quality product!

Not fully pleased but considering the cost will not take the pain to return

This is a nice, well made beard trimmer. I had recently cut my beard closer to my face (from about 6" long) and it was time to trim again. My beard was roughly 1/2" long when I used this trimmer for the first time. Not knowing it's different length settings, I started out on the longest setting which is 10. This setting was too long and didn't trim my beard at all. Due to this I reduced the setting to 5 (it goes down to 0.5) thinking it would cut half of the length off. This was a lot shorter than I was expecting and wanting. It cut it to about 1/8" long. It makes me wonder what the 0.5 - 4 settings are for. You might as well shave with a razor if you go shorter than 5. The guard just slides down into the trimmer and the knob adjusts it up and down based on your setting. You can also completely remove the guard if you want a close shave. I will warn you however, that removing the guard and expecting to turn the trimmer 90° to get a straight line is dangerous. I actually cut myself with it trying to do this. You can count the teeth marks in my skin where it scabbed up (there are 15 if you're curious). My old Gillette styler that I've used for years has the teeth a lot closer together which avoids this issue. Another issue that I found is that the teeth on the guard are so long that you cannot trim the top mustache hairs because the guard hits your nose long before you've reached the top of your mustache. The trimmer is very lightweight and comfortable in the hand. It is also very quiet. I will continue to use it, I just have to find the right length setting for me. Overall, a good trimmer, it could just use some design tweaks.

As far as beard trimmers go, I have tried quite a variety of brands (Braun, Phillips Norelco, Remington) over the years. This one looks like it'll be one that will last a couple years. Pretty good build and 10 length settings to choose from. Out of the box, I didn't even have to charge it and was able to use it for about 10 minutes. It also comes with a small brush and is very easy to clean. I would definitely recommend to anyone looking to maintain a beard.

Both razors were shipped in a plastic bag without any protection, and the boxes inside were crushed upon delivery as a result. This is the second shipping issue I've had with BestBuy in the last two weeks.

I have been using this trimmer for several weeks and it has replaced almost all of my other hair grooming tools. The first thing I noticed when I took the trimmer from the box was the weight of the tool and quality feel of the depth dial. This is a very nice device in the hand. It is also easy to dismantle and clean with the included brush. I use the clippers without the guard to shave the top of my head before doing a wet shave with a safety razor. I also use it with the guard to groom my beard and keep the edges of my beard and mustache neat about every other day. With all this use, the trimmer arrived fully charged and I have not yet had to charge it. I waited to write this review until I had an idea how long it would last, but I eventually had to give up and write the review. The guard mechanism is smooth, allows for a range of beard lengths and completely resists being accidentally bumped down (no accidental scalping!). At the same time the guard simply pops off for detail work, a very close trim or a cleaning. I have owned a number of razors and trimmers and in my experience it would be hard to do better than this if you're looking for a versatile set of clippers.

My boyfriend had this buzzer for a total of 3 weeks before it wouldn’t shut off and then just completely died. Waste of money.

Upgraded to this Norelco beard trimmer from a facial hair trimmer that was at least 10 years old. Wow, what a difference! There are 10 settings for the guard height that is on a easy to rotate wheel and the the trim guard easily slides in and out over the trimmer for easy cleaning. It is a wide trimmer but if you are removing a lot of beard you will need to pull the guard off and clean it often. The kit does include a cleaning brush to be used on the trimmer head itself. It is definitely no slouch when it comes to removing the hair, so you need to be careful where you are trimming, especially when not using the guard. Trying to trim your mustache with this is workable but as stated the trimmer head is pretty wide and can be hard to properly trim a mustache, but works ok as long as you are careful. The instruction state to start your trim at length 10 and move down towards 1 until you reach the desired length. I trimmed by beard at number 4 and ended up being a little too close. Personally for me 6 would be a good number. You do need to go back and forth over the beard and at different angles to be able to get an even trim. Overall I am very satisfied with this trimmer

not working anymore after 5 months .have problem after 2 months, very bad quality.

It barely cuts. The blades are to sharp and cuts you easily. The worst trimmer I ever owned.

Very disappointed with this product. It doesn't trim evenly. Awful results. Worse Trimmer I've ever tried.

Ordered new but received used with a lot of dust and not working

This is hands down the best $20 purchase. I have had another philips beard trimmer which was also pretty good but a little expensive. The battery came charged and I used it quite a few times before it needed charging. First off, the thing is super quiet compared to the other ones i've used. But most importantly, this thing trims very well. I only have to go over the areas one time to trim my facial hair. After the battery is dead, it needs to be charged for 8 hours for a full charge. However, you can charge it for fifteen minutes to get a quick five minutes of trimming time for emergencies. I love this little kit and would recommend it if you're looking for something to replace your current grooming setup!

This is my second Norelco beard trimmer. The last one went for over ten years before the battery finally gave out - and I'm very pleased to say that it looks like this one is no less durable. There are a lot of metal parts, it seems decently sealed against small hairs, and it's easy to clean. And, while this probably goes without saying, it does a pretty good job of trimming your beard too. The only real issue I found after a week of use is that the guide isn't quite as precise as advertised. There's just a little play in the mechanism, meaning that the lowest two length settings (1 and .5mm) have no perceptible difference. But apart from that, I have to say that this delivers exactly what is promised.

This is great. The integrated guard makes keeping the beard in order easy. That's great because I'm the summer I'm a lot shorter then the winter and not having to dig around for different guards is perfect for me. Does the job perfectly and I likr keeping things simple like this does. If you need a trimmer and don't want to miss with changing guards or losing them this is definitely the trimmer for you. The guard does pop out easily for cleaning clogs and oiling. So yay. I wish I had this years ago.
