The 3dr Solo is a professional drone without the professional drone price! Best Buy has the best deals for refurbished units. Not sure there are many still available, but I got a refurbished Solo (rev B) with backpack (which retails for like $90-100) and a gimbal (retail around $60-70) for only $189.99 - - The best price anywhere in the WORLD! The Solo makes even a beginner pilot look like a professional drone pilot. Pros: - Very stable flight even in windy conditions - Simple and easy to use controller - A darn cool looking drone - 3dr made this an open source drone, so you've got tons of people making and sharing modifications - Easy to upgrade (e.g. Gps card, leg extenders, antennas, propellers, etc.) - Spare parts available at multiple locations (ebay, B&H Photo, Amazon, and many others) Cons - You gotta do your research on which mods you want to do - Need to establish gps lock in order to use safety features like return to home and pause (each of which are accessed via a dedicated button on the controller) This drone cost $1000 in 2015 and now its available for < $200 (refurbished). You can't get a high quality and high performance drone like the Solo for anywhere near this price.

Best Drone in the Price Range

Had a Parrot Bebop before this and this by far blows it away. Has much more power and longer battery life and with a hero 4 attached to the gimbal it takes excellent video and pictures. The Gimbal can be fussy and does go limp once in a while while flying. The gps can also take a long time to lock but the drone is completely stable once it does. Has a great app and parts are still easily available to purchase even though the company is no longer producing the Solo.

I paid more for my "toy" parrot A.R. drone... since i already had a gopro 4 there wasn't even a second thought... "refurbished" but still had all the plastic stickers as if it was brand new...
