4 flows like a magic only King B can create!

Beyoncé was on top of the world after releasing her third solo album "I Am... Sasha Fierce" in 2008. How she intended to follow that success was unknown, but she managed to do so with her most mature, emotionally deep, and sonically cohesive album to date! While it's true the track's on "4" might not be what we've come to expect from Beyoncé in the past, with this album she's sending us a clear message: Beyoncé cannot be defined! As much as people will attempt to box her in and claim that "4" is going to flop commercially, its position on iTunes charts all around the world right now proves otherwise. While Run The World (Girls) was seen as a non-orthodox choice for a lead single, it was Beyoncé's message to the world that she's here to stay. On this album, as well, that message rings true! The way this album flows is truly magical. I will give each track a rating (out of 5) below, and I'll compile the scores to give an average (though overall I give the album a solid 5/5!) 1. 1+1 - [5/5] 2. I Care [4.9/5] 3. I Miss You [4.5/5] 4. Best Thing I Never Had [4.9/5] 5. Party (feat. André 3000) [3.8/5] 6. Rather Die Young [3.5/5] 7. Start Over [4.5/5] 8. Love On Top [4/5] 9. Countdown [5/5] 10. End of Time [4.7/5] 11. I Was Here [5/5] 12. Run The World (Girls) [4.7/5] Overall: [4.5/5] - In other words, I definitely recommend purchasing this album! It's not in line with what's popular on the radio right now, but that's all the more reason to love it. As big a star as Beyoncé is, she took a risk releasing such a, for lack of a better phrase, "non-commercial" album, but if you give it a chance to grow on you, most of you will be enjoying it for years to come!

After I heard "Countdown" on "The Year of 4" I fell in live with the possibility of this album. I'm seeing a different side of Bey and I've grown to like it--even "Girls (Run The World)". Beyoncé doesn't half step and 4 is a good album. JCan approved.

I took a quick peek at the cd, and Beyonce does a good job. Mixes in various emotions; happiness, sadness, breakup, make ups and really balances the cd well. The sister loves the cd, since she plays it all day long. So on a scale from 1 to ten...Its a clean 9. But for BEST BUY, Beyonces self entitled gets a 4 out of 5.

Sure this album it not mainstream, but you grow on the songs. It does take time to appreciate them but once you do you won't be able to stop listening to the album. All in all, a great creative album. Beyonce as you you've never seen her.

This album is filled with beautiful ballads and excellent emotional singing. Its very good to hear beautiful R&B with a mixture of world sounds. She's maturing and that's what's amazing about this album!

I thought that this album was a good representation of Beyonce's growth with her music. I love most of the songs on here! If you like ballads, this will be a good CD for you! Can't wait for the tour!

Though most R&B artists can be hit and miss sometimes, Beyonce hit yet another homerun with this album! The vocals, content, and instrumentals are more mature with every new album but always still oh so Beyonce!

    An absolute disapointment...

Well, Beyonce was determined to make a so called "non commercial album, and she definetely succeeded. "4" is an album I imagine she made for her more hardcore fans, who want to see her spread her wings.Listening to the first 7 or so tracks almost left me comotose or in a state of depression. Listening to tracks that mostly run into each other but have the same kind of beat or chorus gets tiresome and mundane, especially the Party track with Andre 3000, who sounds as disinterested as I've ever heard him, as well as the Track co-written by Odd Future's Frank Ocean just sound too much by the book, instead of daring or risk taking.Maybe instead of Frank Ocean she should have had Tyler the Creator on any of the first tracks to liven them up. Anyway, not all bad,the best tracks are at the end of the CD with Love on Top, Countdown, and End of Time all winners. Then we get to the Diane Warren track "I Was Here" that shows off her pipes and is nothing we have'nt heard before to the absolutely dull Girls Rule the World, which closes the album with a thud. This is strictly for her hard core fans, and hardly anyone else, like her husband's Kingdom Come CD was strictly for his hardcore following.
