Gave my TV extra HDMI ports at a reasonable cost

It works like I wanted. I plug my Roku and my Blu-ray player into it and then plug it into my last HDMI port on the TV. I still have one spare HDMI port left on the Rocketfish switch for the future when needed. One of the four HDMI ports is used to connect to the TV. The remote control works fine. Sometimes I have to switch back and forth a couple of times since the Roku and the Blu-ray play don't sense that they are the active device unless I switch back to them.

The product is a inch wider than an apple tv. It is not that noticeable while off. The l.e.d. indicator light comes on while the tv is on. The picture and sound quality seems the same. The set up is a simple plug in & play.

    Excellent Input Switcher

Not having enough HDMI ports on your T.V. to handle the amount of devices you need to connect via HDMI can sometimes be frustrating; however, this Rocketfish HDMI Switch cures the issue with simplicity. Not only does it act as an expansion of available HDMI ports, it offers smooth transitioning between devices with just the click of a button, there is NO getting up to switch out cords, etc. This was an excellent purchase for my household. You will have to keep up with the remote it is so tiny and thin it disappears fairly quick.

This switch is remote controlled and enabled me to control four HDMI devices from one outlet on my TV. There does not appear to be any degradation of signal from the switch. It works better than I expected. It was a very worthwhile product.

    Bought two, both have issues

I bought two of these boxes to hook up multiple components to an older tv with only 2 HDMI ports. I bought one initially which was working fine, and then a second one about a month later once I needed the additional ports. I even waited several weeks before trashing the receipts, to make sure everything seemed stable. Now, of course, the original box is non-functional. It has power, will switch inputs, but will not relay a signal from any of the 4 devices hooked to it. I did the usual testing - hooked the same components into TV, changed cables, etc - and determined it must be an issue with the box/output since everything else worked standalone. The second box is still functional, but I didn't realize there was a problem with it until I hooked up additional components. Ports 2 and 4 seem fine and work as expected, but either 1 and 3 are mislabeled or the wiring inside is crossed. Device hooked into port 1 gets a signal on 3, and vice versa. All in all, product seems very poorly made - despite Best Buy pushing it as superior over other brands they carry (I believe they now own Rocketfish). The price point makes this even worse. Similar devices are half the price on Amazon, and even if they work half as well, that would be a slight improvement.

Great when not enough HDMI ports

Our main TV only has two HDMI ports, but we currently have three devices which connect via HDMI. I bought the RocketFish HDMI port selector and found it to be very easy to setup and use. I was concerned that I would have to train my Harmony 650 universal remote to control it, but the codes were already in the library, so setup was a snap. We've not used the auto-switching feature because our Harmony 650 remote switches the inputs for us and turns-off unused devices. We can now connect up to five HDMI devices to my TV (4 in RocketFish HDMI port selector + 1 additional in TV). Overall we are very happy with our RocketFish HDMI port selector. I am a BestBuy employee and work in the Home Theater department. I purchased the RocketFish HDMI port selector, and am not being compensated by either BestBuy or the manufacturer for this review.

This little HDMI hub is wonderful. I use it for my computer and game systems thru one monitor and it's great. Kinda wish there was more than 4 ports but it's still easy enough to work with.

Works great, but read this if you have a PS3!

I thought this thing was defective when I hooked up my PS3 and DVR to my Panasonic Viera through this 4-port selector...my PS3 home screen was flickering like crazy, no sound, etc. Then after a Google search, I discovered that you have to turn off "Deep Color Mode" in the PS3 settings. Doing this will eliminate any issues and still leave your display looking great. (Not sure what Deep Color Mode is supposed to do other than give conflicts to other devices...thanks, Sony). Anyway, make sure you DISABLE "Deep Color Mode" in your PS3's settings after you hook it up to this Rocketfish product and you''ll be good to go. Not sure if there is a similar fix needed for Xbox users but it's worth investigating if you are having issues with a gaming system and this.

Great for consolidating my game consoles.

Great device for gamers to consolidate their consoles, and free up HDMI ports on their HDTV for other uses. The one HDMI port on the front of the switch means it is easier to connect an HD camera than going to the sides of your TV. Remote makes switching hassle free for couch potatoes, or when you do not want to get up.

The device is made well, and in theory works well. The device has to be turned off, on and resend the handshake to the receiver to get the picture to show as other reviews suggest. its nice to have multiple hdmi inputs where my devices are but is a hassle sometimes to get the device to work correctly.

Not compatible with my projector but maybe your tv

    Posted .

I thought this would work my my Epson 2150 projector that I bought from Best Buy but when I hooked it up to my Directv box and tried using it with the projector, it wouldn’t allow my projector to projector in 1080. It would only do 480! It did the same thing when I hooked up my blu-Ray player as well. Not only did the signal project in 480 but it also changed the ratio to 4:3 and didn’t project in 16:9. When I plugged my Directv box or my blu-Ray player directly into the projector no problems. I will be returning this. So frustrated as I hoped to be able to switch between my Directv box and my blu-Ray player without having to unplug one to plug in the other. I don’t know if this will work with a tv or not so I am giving it 3 stars instead of one and clicking the box not to recommend only because it didn’t work with my projector. Having said that it may work with your tv.

Needed a new HDMI switcher as the old one was cutting out. Liked that it is easy to tell which source is being used and that it has a remote. Price was a little steep though.

There appear to be certain combinations of devices that lock the thing up. Where my computers and the Amazon FireTV stick work individually, if I plug them in together, the thing just goes dumb and puts no video out.
