    Sony Blu-ray players have become short-lived

    My first Sony Blu-ray DVD player lasted 5 years, my second one 2.5 yrs, and this one less than a year and a half. It shuts off, won't respond to the remote, has to be unplugged, and shut off for at least 2-5 minutes, then restarted. It's gotten to the point where I have to do this about 15 times before it stays on. Getting it to eject the tray for a DVD is worse.

    I just bought a Sony Blu-ray player, and purchased Geek Squad Protection. For the money, I think it was a wise purchase for peace of mind concerning any possible issues that arise with the player.

    The Greek geek squad was absolutely excellent in every way possible not only did they come into the house fully following protocol for Cove 19 they also did some extra things for me like sound setting up sound bars in a different room checking my Wi-Fi and programming all the remotes to all my TVs not just the one I bought. I would highly recommend the geek squad and geeks one protection for any item that you buy there’s over $100

    Incompetent repair/QC costs balance of warranty

    Took a one year old blu ray player that stop playing in, took a month to “fix”. Took it back, another month goes by. This time asked them to show me it was actually fixed, it wasn’t. What did they do with it?? Where’s the QC check? No working player for two months. Their solution was to replace it under the plan, which ‘closes out the 4 year extended plan. The 4 year warranty does not get carried over to the replacement, so 3 years of protection are lost because of their incompetence in two repair attempts. You need to buy another plan for the replacement player. I did some research and next time I’ll get another extended warranties available on the net. They send a prepaid box and return fixed within a week. No trips to the store or appointment needed. Seems like a better value.
