Sound quality is excellent, and setup is straightforward, with color-coded wires and an automatic calibration mode. Networking is either by built-in Wi-Fi or by Ethernet, and is very simple to set up. DLNA servers on the network are easily found, and the receiver will stream a variety of formats, including multichannel HD audio.

Not worth a purchase! The bass absolutely is low. The size was bulky and the voice did not equal to the number of speakers present. no equalizer. Treble seemed to be extremely bad.

    Receiver has history of failure

I bought this theater system 3 years ago. I'm not electronics savvy so it was really hard for me to program the receiver. I tried Onkyo technical support and it was terrible and the manual was terrible. I finally got it working and it sounded great. Last week the audio stopped working (video still working). I tried everything including a factory reset and still had no audio. I checked the web and found hundreds of forum entries with people having the same issue. The problem is apparently a bad board that frequently fails after 3 - 4 years of use. This receiver is obviously past the warranty so I called my local Onkyo repair shop. They said Onkyo would not allow consumer purchase of the board and they were required to run a diagnostic on the receiver. To run a diagnostic on the receiver was $65 and if it needed a board the board would cost (about) $350 - $400 plus labor. I have now ordered a Denon receiver and the Onkyo is going in the trash. I'm just hoping the speakers will work with a non-Onkyo receiver. I will NEVER buy another Onkyo product.
