Astonishing catalog release on 4K UHD. Eye candy.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.A Few Good Men is still a pretty good 90's mainstream film about the call of duty and acceptable behavior. A nice drama with suspense, and some great, iconic performances by big names like Jack Nicholson. Movie aside, the 4K UHD is a true stunner. This is one of the releases that had people calling Sony the undisputed champ of the format. The detail, clarity, pixel density and fullness will floor you and the wider color gamut + HDR is applied to tastefully, accurately and noticeably... shadows so deep, with so much retained detail. Automobiles with perfect sheen. Glints and reflections in the actors eyes that will strike you as seemingly impossible. Can't recommend this release enough to anyone looking to see how great older movies can look in 4K HDR, with a pretty enjoyable movie to boot. If you're of the mindset that only newer movies, shot with digital cameras etc can shine on UHD, this will surely change your mind.

Another Great $5 Buy
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This movie came out in 1992 so Many have already discussed the plot, its significance, acting etc so I will refrain from redundancy and focus solely upon the transfer to Blu Ray for this 5 star drama. I will say that it is fun to see actors, now famous, in small parts at the beginning of their careers like Christopher Guess and Cuba Gooding Jr. VIDEO...The transfer is pretty clean and actually seemed to get better as the movie proceeded. This might be because the indoor court scenes are more controlled in their lighting than outdoor scenes might be. The color grading appeared very natural with good skin tones and warm coloration during most of the film. Night scenes tend to be a touch cooler as one might expect. At no time did I see any artifacting or any other issues with the film. There is a soft grain throughout but nothing that would distract anyone. The contrast is especially good for the close ups and wide shots are done with a relatively narrow depth of field so that backgrounds, more often than not, are gently out of focus. AUDIO...The audio is a lossless PCM 5.1 which brings a positively transient openness to your speakers. As this is a dialogue driven film, I would venture to guess that 95% of your audio will be from the center channel. The front side channels have a few instances of directional foley sounds but they are really very few. Your LFE channel will be and stay asleep as even the couple of lightning instances towards the end of the film do not go deep enough to allow your sub to do much. Of course, this might also depend upon where your crossover is set on the sub. For me, mine took a vacation. The extras include typical commentary, interviews with some of the actors, writer and director and a making of. Jack Nicholson did not take part in any of the interviews but many who did glad handed him without revealing much at all. Also, and this I hate on discs, are previews for other movies and a small promotion for Blu Ray itself. I would bet my bottom dollar that this film was not remastered at all since many of the 'Coming to Blu Ray' films listed have been out for a great many years. All in all, for a great courtroom drama and a film that retains its legs, 'A Few Good Men' was well worth the small price I paid. Just know that it is not a demo disc by any means. All my reviews focus solely on the quality of the transfers to Blu Ray of both video and audio and I do hope that this review has been of some help to you in deciding upon your purchase decisions and that I am on the correct path with this type of review. Thanks for readin

Great 4K edition!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. One of the great courtroom dramas in modern day. As a lawyer I generally hate courtroom movies and shows because they are so unrealistic and truly this isn’t much different. A real courtroom is never this exciting or tense and there’s no way a real judge would allow a witness to be badgered in the final scene. But I was able to suspend my belief because of his great all the performances were. Tom Cruise, like him or not, is a great actor and has really been overlooked by academy awards voters. Much like Al Pacino he’ll likely win for something weaker in his career than some of his brilliant work in dramas like this. The 4K is really clean and brings out the darks better than the Blu-ray. The price makes this one an easy double dip for me. Although I promised not to re buy buy rays the price made the exception for this great Rob Reiner drama.

GREAT FOR THE PRICE
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is ONE of my all-time favorite movie. I've probably watched it 300 times and I can recite it line by line. I once wrote the script during the course of one semester in a class I hated. I still have the notebook. Demi Moore definitely is the film's weakest link, but the acting is superb and Aaron Sorkin's story sucks you in from the opening minute. There is so much great dialogue, headlined by Tom Cruise's courtroom battle with Jack Nicholson at the movie's climax. Too many people say the movie is average because it's "too slow," but I really believe anyone who appreciates good acting and good stories has to put this one near the top of their list.

A Great Memorable View
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The film is a story the explains many facets of the Marine Corps, the relationships between Marine Officers and Enlisted Men within an Infantry Battalion and the movie does that job quite well. Also, the movie is well cast with brilliant actors, it is written with a cracking dialogue that you will not forget, and it was very well Directed – which, all in the end means a great viewers experience. It also explorers the intricacies of a Military Court Martial and it unfortunately brings to light a Code Red incident that should not have occurred. It’s bottom line – simply a great and memorable view.

A Must See Movie
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've seen a lot of movies, mostly movies produced after 2000. However from the movies that I've seen produced in the 1990's of before often don't seem to be well produced, especially movies from the 90's with a few exceptions. This movie however is exceptional and became one of my top 20 favorites and it was produced in 1992. This movie never had a dull moment and only got better as it went on. There is an excellent plot in this movie that only intensifies. I highly recommend this movie to any adult; the movie is based on our laws and the court room so it may bore a younger audience.

Love the new Color Grade in this 4K Transfer
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Beautiful 4K transfer of this classic court thriller drama. Writer Aaron Sorkin has never topped the writing in this film IMO. The Social Network, West Wing and some of his other works come close, but this is the best. Looks and sounds amazing on my 4K TV. The HDR color grade is so much better than the original blu-ray.

A Few Good Men is More than Good
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is one of my all-time favorite movies. I watch it several times each year. The Aaron Sorkin script masterful, with light comedy built into the overall solid drama storyline. Tom Cruise is just right for the young lead defense attorney. Jack Nicholson is terrific as the blood and guts Colonel Nathan Jessup. A final court room scene is a classic movie moment. There is also a fine supporting cast, including Demi Moore, Kevin Bacon, and Kiefer Sutherland. Director is Rob Reiner. I bought this Blu-Ray version for even better screen quality.

Riveting courtroom drama
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Riveting courtroom drama! Demi Moore was fantastic as a female with "conviction" in a male dominated environment. Tom Cruise was superb as a young hotshot just doing what was needed to climb to the top. Jack Nicholson was in character as the stereotypical Marine commander, along with Kevin Bacon & Kiefer Southerland an outstanding cast of talented actors! You will not be disappointed with this 4k update to a " must have" movie for your collection.

A Classic
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Yea, this is a classic!!! Ol' Jack Nicholson at his best! Great cast! Great writing! I upgraded from DVD to Blu-Ray for this one! DON'T STREAM!! Streaming is good for what it is, however, you're depending on someone elses server for your movies!! This gives them way too much power on what you watch and when! If they don't want you to see it anymore, they pull it and it's gone!. I NEED a hard copy in my hand!! Don't give them that power - Support DVD/Blu-Ray's!! Support 3D!!

You can't handle this movie
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.A Few Good Men is well written with great performances from Cruise, Moore, and Nicholson. A hazing death at a military base reveals a more sinister culture with a power hungry Colonel in charge (Nicholson). An attorney new to the courtroom (Cruise) with help from legal team (Moore, Pollak) take the case which reaches a climax with one of the most quoted lines in cinema history. Well worth the watch if you love law and order and intelligent story-telling, or even if you just want to know the context behind the famous quote.

The best courtroom drama of All Time!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Tom Cruise definitely deserved an Oscar in this movie for his performance. Jack Nicholson's best supporting actor Oscar is well deserved. Good movie and good image produced by 4k disc.

Wow & Amazing
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have owned both dvd & Blu-ray of this movie. I decided to try it on 4k to see if it made a difference. Sony truly made this conversion of A Few Good Men look amazing. They fixed the issue with the too red skin tones in the Blu-ray edition. The sharpness is amazing and might be my favorite 4k movie. So if A Few Good Men is one of your favorite movies like me then don't pass on this 25th anniversary 4k edition.

You Can't Handle...Not buying this
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Probably one of the most dynamic films I've seen. It's amazing how much Jack Nicholson makes this movie, yet he's in only 4 scenes....Talk about maximum impact. This is a very appropriate movie in today's society as well, if you boil it down to what it is at the core of the film. People need to take care of people not strong enough to do so on their own. Regardless of uniform, title, place in society. We need to look out for one another. Great movie, great story, great cast.

Great showcase for Cruise and Nicholson
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Cruise investigates the death of a Marine at Guantanamo Bay marine base. Nicholson is hardly in this movie but when he is he owns the screen with his scene stealing character. A fun fact is this was first a Broadway play written by a young Aaron Sorkin then adapted from his own play into this movie with the help of director Rob Reiner. Never dull and always compelling. What do I ask of a movie? Never bore me.
