Worth the wait
|Posted .I would recommend this to a friendThis is the one that started it all for Clint. The first of the three spaghetti westerns. The Blu-ray offers up a decent looking High-def release and the DTS 5.1 soundtrack is an improvement over the mono on the DVD release.

A timeless western film
Posted .A Fistful of Dollars is the first film of Sergio Leone's timeless spaghetti western trilogy. As such, it is a must-see film anyhow, but this also happens to be only of the best westerns, and indeed films, of all time. The story begins when the Man With No Name (Eastwood) drifts into a town that is run by two competing gangs. Learning of these gangs from a local saloon keeper, the Man hatches a scheme to play both of these gangs against each other, using himself as an inside man, hoping to get rich off of the wreckage. Then, the bodies begin to back up. This film doesn't rely as much on solid characters, especially villains, as the others two in the series, and the premise is less exciting, but it's still a great film, and the cultural relevance of it can be found everywhere in our culture nowadays. This film and the other two are an absolute must-see, and if you have yet to get into this marvelous series, whether you are a fan of westerns or just good cinema, now is the time.

a new kind of western
Posted .Although obviously inspired by Akira Kurosawa's classic Yojimbo, A Fistful of Dollars introduced us to a new kind of western. This wasn't the typical, bloated John Wayne figure, rather Clint Eastwood, in his star making role, was a drifter whose past was unknown but whose interests (making money) weren't. His Man With No Name (as the American press came to dub his character in all three of Clint's films with Leone) manipulates, and is manipulated by, two warring factions in a distant town on the Mexican border. This film rightly put Clint, Leone, and composer Ennio Morricone on the map.

CLASSIC. TRUE SHOOT TO KILL WESTERN
Posted .This is the one that started it all. One of my most favorite movies of all time. Dark, gritty, realistic portrayl of the west and life during that time. This film featured for the first time in cinema history a gun shooting and people getting shot in the same frame. Prior to this movie, the gun shot and person being shot had to be cut in differnt frames for censorship. GREAT storyline. Eastwood portrays what became his "anti-hero, vilgilanti" persona with his tradmark squint. THE ULTIMATE REALISTIC WESTERN. LOTS OF SHOOTING

Great Clint Western
Posted .I would recommend this to a friendOne of Clint's best westerns. He turns two rival gangs against each other for big payoffs and plenty of action. He faces the big villan Ramon at the end for a final shootout!

One of Eastwood's Best
Posted .I just love this Sergio Leone film. By far one of Clint Eastwood's best films in my opinion, especially in regards to all the westerns he did. Widescreen and full-screen viewing options, but die hard fans will probably want to purchase the collector's edition, which is loaded with extra bonus material not available on this release.
