Floyd still has it. The songs, while not in traditional Floyd style or sound, still match up well to most of the early Floyd. While the songs do reflect a group in name only, the songs coming out of this period express a Floyd willing to try new things.

Pink Floyd: bluesy return for the 80's

Pink Floyd returns with a winner. Roger Waters and his view of the world are replaced with David Gilmour's. There's more of a dreamy, slow blues feel (and plenty of blues-rock guitar) and the vocals seem more resigned instead of angry. Restraint is the key word here. While neither better nor worse than the 'classic Floyd', the music here shows a veteran band that knows what it's doing and does it well. The songs are strong and melodic with not a bad one in the bunch. Great, just great.
