    A Perfect Day

When I first saw this CD, I thought there was something strange about the graphic. Bob looked fake. Then I realized it is because he is made of pure awesome. Track 01 "Let the Light In" paints a club scene of a forbidden love, using familiar fictional characters from the land of Oz. Come to think of it, the most famous of all forbidden loves, Romeo & Juliet, plays a prominent role in Bob's last Single "40 Dogs". Does this theme resonate with the Austin lyricist? Track 04 "Peaches" finds a groove similar to his "Best Laid Plans" as well as a heart-felt proclamation of affection. But if you think Bob is getting soft on love, he reverts to his fantastic bluntness in Track 07, "Penelope Cruz". Given Penelope's track record with co-stars, all red-blooded men should concur with Bob's desire. The real gem on this album is Track 02 "Honeypot". An Americana anthem that crescendos through the chorus and then humbly lays down the conclusion. If you are not singing along with this one, you do not like music. Finishing the track with his oft-present "la la" singalong, this is sure to be a crowd pleaser at live shows. Why is Bob Schneider only really well-known in Texas? I look forward to his releases more so than any other artist, and those who get to see him play in small venues across America walk away with a Frunk in their step, to be sure.
