Pros: Movie Dolby Vision Steelcase Cons: Atmos Overpriced

A Star is Born starts strong and stays that way through about half of its running time. The performances are genuine, the chemistry is strong, and the core relationships drive the story forward in a compelling way. The music is also quite excellent, with songs managing to believably exist within the world of the film while also advancing the overall plot. By the time the two leads got together and her singing career began to take off, I was on the same page with most people who loved the movie. Then something happened and it's like someone accidentally changed over to a second, dramatically inferior version of the film. I became increasingly less invested in the characters, everything began to devolve into montages as time sped by, and by the time the emotional climax arrived, it failed to make any sort of emotional impact. Still, those earlier scenes were so strong that I can recommend checking the film out. There is something quite special there, even if it's ultimately squandered.

I purchased this movie because one of my sisters raved about the movie. She warned me it would make me cry. Unfortunately, I did not buy into the story line. Therefore, I was not vested in the movie as it unfolded. I am also biased toward movies with more action. It is probably not Bradley Cooper's best work, but Lady Gaga is amazing with her charismatic character and awesome voice. For me, the music was outstanding. The best part of the movie, for me, was the song performed by Lady Gaga's character at the end of the movie.

If anybody reads my reviews on Best Buy items, you'll notice that I am not very critical of many of them. I buy them because I like them. However, I might've jumped the gun with this one. A Star is Born is not necessarily a good movie, regardless of what the academy says. Bradley Cooper is great, Lady Ga Ga is AMAZING, and the concert scenes are superb. However, when you put all of these together it doesn't necessarily make an excellent movie. It is just an ok movie. A nice "fan fiction" story that sort of works. If you like the music and the performances, buy it. If you want to add to your "classics" collection, don't.

Really, not really a fourth version of the classic film, but an updated retread of the Streisand, which (until now) was the weakest of them. I remember how this was critically received, with all sorts of praise; but I didn't see it until the blu-ray. I was disappointed. It inspired me to watch the other three, and The only one I respect is '54. the Judy Garland entry.

I never saw the other versions of this film, so this was brand new for me. Overall, well made, well directed and acted. Rather a soap opera premise though, and the overt abundance of foul language really seemed over the top for me, as well as it's obvious ending. I can't hate the film, I would recommend to a spec idic audience, but considering ALL the praise this received, I must admit I was looking for something far superior.

This movie has a lot of hype around it. I think it has to much hype. It was a decent movie that showed the inner struggles of a person with addictions. It’ll make you never want to live a famous lifestyle. It had a great soundtrack if you have a home theater system to play it through. Overall it was just a decent movie. Nothing spectacular. It didn’t live up to the Oscar nominations but definitely good for a first watch.

I miss the button on my Alexa remote that I could just speak into. You would think with a smart TV you would have that option, but no. I feel like I stepped back in time and have to search each app every time I have to search for movie. And now the TV started flickering on top of that. It's nice a big, so there is a star for that.

The movie is another remake (fourth film?) of the A Star is Born... Hollywood seems to never get tired of remaking old movies. Basically, this movie is just a rehash with the current trends of music. Admittedly, Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga do sing admirably, but after a while, you know what's going to happen

Gaga has a great singing voice. Mediocre acting. Bradley Cooper did a nice job directing, acting, and singing. I thought the movie was a bit contrived. Too much of the story seemed forced, within a short time frame. Not realistic, but a decent way to pass 2 hrs.

Is it just me? I watched this movie and was expecting the stars to have a baby at the end and name her Astar. Only after watching three times did I finally realize the title of the movie isn't Astar Is Born but A Star Is Born. I never should have dropped out in the 4th grade.

It's clearly a movie that has great acting with a star studded cast. It's an interesting plot that moves slow at times and fast at others. But overall when it's all said and done, the ending wasn't what I was expecting. It's still a decent movie, but one I probably won't watch again.

Lady Gaga can certainly try to act. Her powerhouse voice carries her through this (even when the songs are awful) and she peaks in the first half of the movie. However, Bradley Cooper dominates this movie in front of the camera and proves himself behind it. It's arguably his best performance to date.

The dvd case comes inside a sleeve cover so I didn't notice that it had been opened and the digital code taken. This is sad that people would go as far as stealing digital codes from DVDs in stores. Bestbuy please look out for thieves.

Amazing movie and one of the best from 2018. However, my steel book showed up with a chip in the paint and some sort of adhesive on the back. Very disappointed. Still watch the movie if you haven’t though.

I own hundreds of movies. Some of these I watch over and over again. Even this is a good movie and likely very realistic it will not fall into this category due the unnecessary use of F words. Many people are not offended by this but I am.

I got this movie during the Black Friday sale so I couldn’t beat the price. The movie itself was slow paced and I have ADD not a good combination. Decent acting not good enough to keep my attention though.

I thought this was going to be more of a behind the scenes type movie, you know the rise to fame and all that,I had no idea it was a love story. That being said if it wasn’t for the music I would only watch this once.

Same old story line as 1930's , 50's and 70's movies, just contemporary for today's audience. Nothing new or spectacular. It's for Ladg Gaga fans.

I didn't like it. It's the 2nd best of all the versions, but not close to the original. Music amazing. Acting strong. Story, no new insights.
