This album is too esoteric for LP. There's none of the great hooks or melodies they are known for on this record. Lots of ambient sounds - almost too egocentric in a way. Not something for their fans. At least not this fan.

I am not pleased with this CD. In my car, I came to find that this CD is not very fun and made me very tired. Linkin Park fans, beware....

..for some time.Their last 2 albums/cdsboth had a different feel/rythm to them.Linkin Park of old is gone, rap, heavy rock,etc...that time has come and gone for them. With groups like Green Day and Fray,I believe the group is going the way of keeping their material fresh.
No two albums/cd's will ever sound alike.
There is a few good tracks on this cd...just bypass that nonsense with track #1 and #2 and enjoy. But you have to have an open mind.

Let me start by saying the week in Oct 00 when hybrid theory dropped my best friends mom walked in with it after school and said she got it cause it was 7 bucks and it look cool. So we put it in and I instantly was blown away, having been into other metal band and such of the time it was a lil something different. It was what my 15 yr old self needed to hear and blare. I kinda liked some of Meteora but just didn't feel the same, then after I heard part of reanimation I had pretty much just given up. So I did and quit listening. I heard them on the radio occasionally and was like ok. Liked one track on Minutes, but wasn't inclined for the cd. Fast forward to my 25 yr old self, dad, engaged, starting to slow down....you get the jest. I hear the "The Catalyst " and was like wth are they doin? So I see the vma performance and was like alright yea, I go to best buy, get it and yes sir. Soooo no this is nothing like hybrid Theory or any of the old. This is different yes but everybit as good? Yes. Just as H T was my anthem album of the day many times as i went about with his and that, so i feel this will be now. That was the Lp I needed then, this is what I needed now. If your closed minded bout the band don't buy it otherwise, give it a chance and just sit back and chill with it. Highly Recommend!!

Very NON-typical LP, but still very good!

If you're looking for another "Hybrid Theory" or "Meteora", this may not be for you. However, if you've checked out Dead By Sunrise (Bennington's little foray) and are looking for more of THAT... then this is pretty decent!
Am I glad I bought it? Yes. Would I recommend it to a friend? Only with the caveat above.

Music is pretty decent but don't buy it thinking your going to hear typical Linkin Park. ALL the songs minus CATALYST are slow nothing pumped me up on this album. Nothing excited me about this album. I understand Linkin Park was trying something new but they strayed way to far from what made them great! Ok album for a linkin park fan. However, I am disappointed. I expected great things from this album and feel let down! Its exactly an hour long album. Feels short and a bit dull.

Linkin Park has consistently altered their style the last few albums in a continual attempt at redefining themselves. I enjoyed this new album but am more a fan of their first few releases.
