This is a Great Tribute Album dedicated to a truly Great man, namely Ronnie James Dio. For those of you who have lived under a rock your entire lives And don't know who he was, he was the most amazing vocalist for many rock and metal bands from the 60's through the 2000's.! He fronted such notable acts such as Rainbow, Black Sabbath, and his own band Did. His vocal range was phenomenal and he truly had a unique sound. This tribute album does him justice with the collection of artists gathered on here. The final song is Dio himself doing a wonderful song that was never released. It's like hearing his final soliloquy and brings a tear to your eye. Enjoy this tribute as much as I did! R.I.P. Ronnie James Dio (1942-2010)

An Outstanding Tribute

All of the songs are outstanding, of course, being Dio tunes! The artists who play them do them justice every time (except for possibly the Tenacious D song, which I feel could have been less campy and more epic instead). Dio's soft piano & vocal tune at the end is a total change of gears, but it absolutely leaves you feeling emotional and empowered, just as most of his work has always done. It should have been 11 stars! ;-)

Wow! Metallica does an awesome tribute on this one. I was blown away by their covers. Not to mention Anthrax, Lemmy, and Rob Halford. This is a great tribute album. There are always the no-name bands or lackluster tributes that get put out. This one lives up to Dio's legacy. Covers include his time in Rainbow and on his own.

What a great way to honor Heavy Metals greatest singer! All of the songs are well done covers and each artist had a personal connection with Dio. This would have made RJD a very proud man. And with some of the proceeds going to fight cancer this is a win-win!

This is a great CD chock full of great collaborations and bands, and every dime of the purchase price goes to Ronnie James Dio's charity. So if you want to give to a great cause, and love great covers of Dio's songs, give this CD a chance and enjoy it!

I bought this album without hearing a song on it. I was surprised just how good of a job all of the artist did with these songs. Two thumbs up.

I do not care for every artist on this album but I feel the following tracks are re done very well!
Anthrax - Neon Nights
Adrenaline Mob - The Mob Rules
Starstruck - Motorhead (Featuring Biff Byford)
The Temple Of The King - Scorpions
Egypt (The Chains Are On) - Doro
Catch The Rainbow - Featuring Glenn Huges, Craig Goldy, Rudy Sarzo, Scott Warren and Simon Wright
Man On The Silver Mountain - Featuring Rob Halford, Doug Aldrich, Vinnie Appice, Jeff Pilson and Scott Warren
Ronnie Rising Medley (A Light In The Black, Tarot Woman, Stargazer, Kill The King) - Metallica
This Is Your Life - Dio (An Unreleased Track)
Also, the other songs are played and produced well. They just don't apeal to me personall but it is indeed a great release overall. If you like the other artists on this CD you'll probably like their versions as well. It's a great release for the collection.

This album is definitely for Dio fans only. It's worth it for the covers by a lot of bands that obviously were big fans too! Only DIo fans will want to spend money on this CD however. Not all the songs are strong and some of the artist collaborations are odd.

Great gathering for a great cause- Love 75%, several covers I have heard before- but a nice collection. Favorite track is probably "Catch the Rainbow".. Craig Goldie was Dio's last guitar player and one of the longest reigning. He is also leader of the touring "Dio Deciples". You can tell he was heavily involved with the production of "Catch the Rainbow" -the guitar is higher in the mix than the vocal. That's my only complaint- I would prefer Glenn Hughe's vocal were at the top of the mix as it was in the original Rainbow version with Dio's wonderful voice. Martin Birch was a genius in his day.

This album is an okay tribute to a great musician. The songs on this album rarely deviate from the originals and none of the vocalists measure up to Dio himself. Anthrax and Adrenaline Mob do fairly straight forward covers. The most interesting track is Tenacious D's version of "The Last In Line." I was disappointed with Corey Taylor's track. I normally like his work. Halestorm does a good job with "Straight Through the Heart." Lizzy didn't let me down. Motorhead/Biff Byford and the Scorpions try to make the Rainbow covers they chose sound original and they succeed for the to some extent, especially the Scorpions. Klaus' voice really fits "The Temple of the King." Doro does a good job with "Egypt" and it sounds like it would fit in on any of her heavier albums. I've never cared much for Killswitch's cover of 'Holy Diver." Glenn Hughes turns in a good version of "Catch the Rainbow." The cover of "I" with Oni Logan on vocals may be my favorite track on the album. Possibly because it is a less familiar song. I was disappointed with Halfords vocals on "Man on the Silver Mountain," although I really enjoy Doug Aldrich's guitar work. If you like most of the tracks on Metallica's Garage Inc. then you will like their track "Ronnie Rising Medley." It's basically like any other cover they have done since the Black Album. The last track "This is Your Life" is by Dio. I believe it was an outtake from a previous recording session and if so, I can see why it was left off the album. It's simply not very good. I can only recommend buying this album if you are a completest and want everything with Dio's name on it. Or if you are a big fan of one or more of the other artists on the album. You would be much better off listening to the original versions.
