In 1947 a white woman from England fell in love with a black “would be chief” from an area of Southern Africa. This is a moving and beautifully filmed story for their love and devotion to each other and their beloved country: South Africa. This is a must see. “No man is really free until he controls his own life.”

This is a true story. The movie was wonderfully written and acted. It was so good that I watched it a second time the next day!

A United Kingdom is a movie about something I had never heard about. A small country in Africa ruled by Kings, yet affected by the British rule in the 1940's. While finishing his studies in London, the king to be falls in love with a white British woman. It is "forbidden love" by both families and both nations. Their hearts are pure and their love conquers prejucdice.

A United Kingdom depicts a true story from 1947-1954 involving the King and Queen of Botswana, an inter-racial marriage that impacted the interface between the British Empire and one of its colonies struggling for independence. We really enjoyed this production. The actors and director did an outstanding job.
