Low key release but highly awaited for me, this movie was the inspiration for the remake Vanilla Sky. The AV quality improves a little from the DVD but it does not contain the extras found on the DVD. But as a fan you should pick this up.

The original Spanish film which Vanilla Sky was a remake of. Far superior to that remake, it put Penelope Cruz in the international spotlight.

Great movie from the 90’s. I was surprised to find this movie in store. Hard to find

Nothing like watching a provocative Spanish thriller like this all alone in the dark at 2 AM. Not only was the 'riddle' of Cesar's reality a test to my tired mind, but the sudden thrills sneaked up on me and kept me active with the movie. I recommend such a scenario when you watch it. It's quite the thing to see before going to sleep. Not the best movie ever, but an excellent watch nevertheless. I wish it was less confusing, especially when things appear to be making sense. It's a movie with romance, betrayal, friendship, identity-crisis, fantasy vs. reality, and science. Cesar and Sofia, though Cesar, the womanizer rich boy jumps into getting intimate with her for superficial reasons, develop a deep meaningful relationship that is tested once Cesar enters what appears to be a nightmare... a nightmare where he can't tell the difference between Sofia and the haunting ghost of his girlfriend Nuria. It's hard to explain without giving it away, but if you like sci-fi thrillers and want to check out a movie of a different country, try this.

While not a top-notch film in my opinion, 'Open Your Eyes' is still a much better film than its awful remake titled 'Vanilla Sky.'
