Game is not worth buying

I have played all the other Ace Combat games and this game does not deserve the Title of Ace Combat.
PROs: I will say that the graphics and audio are really good.
CONs:The rest of the game is not worth the disc the game is put on. Flying is hard to control. You cannot do 360 deg roles. There is not a lot of freedom to pick your targets. There is no pre-briefing so you can set up your Aircraft before the mission starts. Feels like you play most of the game on a rail system. If you hit the ground you bounce off of it. The overall story is kind of week. I miss the days of buying your Aircraft and weapons. I also miss the made-up Aircraft. I also miss the canyon and tunnel flights that you had to do. There are no really challenging missions also. This game is just a step up from old school Afterburner or Top Gun. My recommendation is to not buy this game and if you really want to play it rent it so you can bring it back the next day.

As someone who loves the Ace Combat series this title is a real letdown. They have removed the ability to communicate with your wingman and allies as well as the ability to land and resupply your weapons. The missions are very long and range from too easy to so difficult that it is frustrating and not much fun. They have added missions where you fly a helicopter or are a gunner but the series is about being a pilot and they should have stuck to what they did best. The game can be beat in about 8-10 hours and there is little reason to play it again. They have also added some splattering blood and cussing so it is not a good choice for the kiddies.
On the positive side the graphics are great and you can change the color of your airplane and the color of the missle smoke trail. The online play is funner than the game itself.
I recommend you download the demo before you buy it. It is the first and third mission. If you like the demo you will like the game, if not pass on it, or at least wait until you can buy it used. I have a feeling there will be plenty of used ones outh there.

A fan of the Ace Combat series, I enjoyed that they added helicopter missions to the game, however, some of the controls are too much.
The views could of been better from the aircrafts, and storyline was a little dull. Fun game, and for the price it's one to keep on the shelf.

I'm enraged that Bandai Namco would make a game this bad and call it Ace Combat. This game is a complete step backwards from previous Ace Combat. I loved Ace Combat Zero for PS2, 1000 times better than this steaming pile. I literally tore the manual into shreds after 1 hour of playing. There isn't a single good thing about it. Gameplay, graphics, story, everything is terrible. When you get locked on to an aircraft the game makes you enter a extremely childish and idiotic dogfight mode where the game takes control of flying your plane for you while you fire missiles at it from like a 100ft or less away. It's like something a 8yr old would do with toy airplanes. When you destroy one it cuts to a cutscene explosion that looks like something out of a bad Michael Bay movie with the graphics budget cut in half. When your on a bombing run the game will interrupt you with a cutscene causing you to miss targets. You have to destroy all the air and ground targets yourself in a very short time span, your allies do absolutely nothing to help you. They won't engage anything. Every single enemy only targets you and won't even shoot at your allies. You can't target an enemy unless your right on top of them and sometimes not even then. The helicopter missions are so bad they're laughable.
If you want a good Ace Combat game get AC Zero : The Belkan War for PS2. 1000 times better. You couldn't pay me to play Assault Horizon. The people who made it should be ashamed and embarrassed.

The Ace Combat series is probably the most recognized and successful flight simulation game on any platform of the last 10 years. This game ruins it. The controls are terrible! The plane is extremely difficult to control and you can only engage opponents through some goofy dog fight set up. I promise you, if you loved the old Ace Combat, you'll hate this one. The graphcis and audio is amazing as well as the helicopter. Save your money.

I was waiting for this game for over a year. Great graphics and sound. Story is kind of weak and short. It is frustrating controlling the planes, they feel stiff even the Raptor, and choosing a target is difficult. You can't buy airplanes anymore. I should've waited until this game was cheaper. They really gave up alot of fun things just for graphics.

The ace combat series for the PS2 made by NAMCO were excellent. Bandi took over and then ace combat 6 came out...... I guess for the xbox? that s@#ked!..... now ace combat 7 is out, and it s@#ked even worse! I strongly urge people NOT to buy Ace combat7 or any game that has Bandi's logo on it. Beleave me!.... its not worth it!

Not sure I understand the low ratings for this game, as I really enjoy playing it. True, it is not the best flight simulator, but it was not meant to be. It's a fast, fun flying game with great multiplayer. That's why I wanted it, and I wasn't disappointed by it. The graphics are very well done.
