Best tech purchase I've ever made
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've been using computers since 1977, buying them for personal use since 1980. This chromebook is the best bang for the buck I have ever made, and that's from a whole lot of purchases - desktops, laptops, tablets, phones, scanners, printers, even a minicomputer about 30 years back It can do almost everything my $2000 desktop can do and most of that just as fast. I haven't fully made the transition from Excel to Google spreadsheet, but that's the only thing I miss with this chromebook.

My very first chromebook
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My first chromebook purchase and so far I'm impressed on how well it works. It definitely has gone beyond my expectations. I have an older HP laptop that I still use, but it's slow. Having a chromebook is great for web browsing and watching video like Netflix. Everything loads fast on a chromebook. I prefer to have a chromebook than a tablet just because I need a physical keyboard. The keyboard and the trackpad work really good. I don't have too much trouble typing. Great value for the money. Very light weight and much easier to carry around when traveling than with a heavier notebook. Only downside is you can't run itunes or Microsoft office on a chromebook. Google does offer their own version of word and excel that is compatible with Microsoft file extensions, but the programs themselves only allow basic functions.

Love My Google Chromebook!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After my laptop fell to the floor and was damaged enough to have to replace the motherboard, I said to myself "no more expensive computers" to adequately take care of what I want and need to do on the internet. My adult son told me about chromebooks and said that for I do each day that was all I needed. I got online and investigated the different brands and models and came to the conclusion that the Acer Chromebook was the one that I wanted. I went the next day to Best Buy, was immediately helped by one of the knowledgeable associates, tried out a few and the decided that the Acer Chrome was the one that best fulfilled my abilities and requirements. By the way, I am 70+ yrs. old but still open to learning and being in touch with the rest of the world! Thank you Andrew for making my trip to Best Buy easy, informative and helpful in all ways.

Very good at what it's designed to be good at
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm very happy with this machine for web browsing and productivity in the google apps universe. It does these things well both online and offline. Very good value for what it does, and for many of these tasks having a real keyboard is a huge advantage over my tablet (which is far more powerful). Nice to take on the run for light weight and something I don't have to be AS concerned about potentially having stolen or damaging as I would with a full laptop. Screen is good for single user, viewing angle makes sharing a challenge. Very good value!

Converting to chromebook from windows
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was skeptical to purchase and switch to chromebooks. Ive had this chromebook for a few months now since black friday (got it for $150) and absolutely love it. I had installed many widgets on chrome and use google drive for pretty everything. This chromebook has helped me transition to the cloud storage and is very compact, lightweight and has very long battery life (about 8 hrs). Highly recommend it if you're primarily doing all your work on the web browser.

Nice little machine, especially for price
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This chromebook works really well, especially for the price! It's highly portable and quick. It does everything I need it to do as a personal computer used for study, watching movies/sports, and surfing the net. It doesn't work with my facility's EMR (I am a medical student), alter photos or pictures, or run statistical software but I don't really need it to do these things ( I have a heavy, clunky school computer for this). But for a portable machine I can use to study anywhere, it's fantastic. I actually purchased one as a birthday gift for my boyfriend afterward (he borrowed mine for a few weeks because he loved it so much).

All you really need to take care of business
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Chromebooks can do so much -- so much more than meets the eye. Forget the whole MS Suite version WHATEVER. This does ALL that AND a bag o' chips. It constantly saves whatever you're doing to the Google Drive so you never worry about where it is (in some obscure Windows oddball file you didn't even know was on your PC, located only after searching for hours on end). It's very easy and intuitive. (The perfect marriage of Apple and Microsoft?) Google researched and found a better, cheaper, easier way. If you need a comparable program, Google has an app for that -- an EASY app. That will integrate seamlessly. And in most cases, it's FREEEEE! I became a willing convert to Chromebook/Google Drive after my son's school issued it for a second year. I chose the ACER because: 1) I wanted a Chromebook, 2) it was time, 3) the price was right!, 4) freedom from the constraints of Apple and MS (too exclusive), and 5) the PLASTIC housing actually makes it lighter (weight) than the metal casing on the others. The floor/demo model was white and it looked much the worse for wear -- lots of smudged, dirty hand prints, so it was a "preview" of how'd look over time. I don't care -- I'm an adult and I don't man-handle it. And I put stickers all over it anyway -- the stickers I'd always wanted to put on my V-Dub bus--and all subsequent cars -- but it "just isn't done -- at our age." Short version: I Love it! Try it!

Great Buy for the Price
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this for my daughter who needed it for school work and it works GREAT! I read the reviews and held on to my receipt just in case but this machine surpassed all my expectations. It works and it works well. Easy to set up, fast to turn on and use, light weight and my little girl says it is "beautiful". She loves that it is white vs. silver. Only drawback for my daughter is that she has no excuses to not do her homework anymore :-).

Great Chromebook!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Internet, video, light word processing, and much more. This small Google operated laptop has many wonderful features. HDMI out, Bluetooth, USB 3.0... you name it. It is also really light and small enough not be cumbersome, yet with a big enough screen to see clearly. Don't expect a machine for heavy gaming or anything like that, but for the price, this chromebook won't disappoint!

Excellent Alternative
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. When you think about it, most of what the average person does on a laptop is online. So if you use google docs, watch videos, email, research or stream music, then the chromebook is a perfect fit! It is light and portable and I love the look of it. The battery is also great and I love the anti glare screen, google integration and speed!

Best for $
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Can't beat this machine for anywhere near the price ($155). Its much faster than my Windows i3 and faster than the MacAir. So handy all around the house particularly for movie research and chromecasting in BRs. Great battery life (days). 16 mgs is quite fine for me as my pics and accumulated files can all be held on half of a 32g sd card. Getting one for my mom who is endlessly frustrated by Windows.

Yes, this is the BEST Everyday device you can buy
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love it, long battery life, better than Windows 8 overall, keyboard is very comfortable, very good price. If you're living in an environment that always within reach of WiFi, I think this will be a great device, cheaper than iPad, more intuitive than Windows 8 PC, and completely worry free, the charger brick is very small while the cable is long to swing along, I like the fact that the charger, wire match the withe color. Build quality is a little bit cheap, and screen could be better, if it comes with a touch screen, that will be fantastic.

Working after some initial problems
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased over 20 of these for a local grade school due to a great sale price. Seven of them had start-up issues - the operating system didn't work/was damaged. My guess is there was either some set-up issue at the factory where the OS was not loaded properly, or somehow they were damaged during shipment. Tech help was a little useful, but only in giving me the website to download a new image before getting disconnected from them. I tried a USB drive as instructed, but nothing. I tried other USB sticks, but none would boot/load the downloaded OS image. I finally thought to load the same image to an SD card. The SD card worked perfectly and I was able to use it to load the OS on all which only took a few minutes. All Chromebooks started up fine and have worked well since. So, it is early to definitely say anything about reliability, but none have given any hints of hardware problems since the OS was properly installed. I am giving this Chromebook a qualified positive review and hope they finish the school year without any other surprises. At this time I am considering getting more the next time they are on sale.
