Should've Expected this from a Refurbished Laptop

I figured it wouldn't hurt if I went the refurbished route again for a new laptop. I'm not sure what I expected. It was a week late in the mail. Within hours of starting up this laptop the display crashed and made sounds I've never heard a laptop make before. Updated all the out-of-date/incorrect drivers that came installed with the device and still ran into new issues. I didn't want to spend time continuing to diagnose and fix each problem that came up so I returned it.
