I am far from a pro when it comes to computers, but I can get around and have run my small business up until this purchase from my Gateway. Well certain clients and security features required a new laptop with some additional specs that I wasn't familiar with but knew the bottom line was it was going to be more expensive but will be an overall upgrade to the system I was currently using. Upgrade was putting it mildly, it's always scary to switch computers - my EVERYTHING was on my old one. The new computer, the Acer, was fast, user friendly, after a quick initial setup, I began the transfer of data and was able to start using it immediately with all of my programs installed and my documents saved and stored. It is an amazing laptop, and I don't put alot of stock into electronics - but this one, when the day comes, I will purchase for each of my employees.

I purchased a refurbished Acer Aspire laptop to replace my nine year old Dell Inspiron 15 which needed to be upgraded. The price and quality I got for the Acer at Best Buy is great! Though the laptop is a little heavy, it's no heavier than my old Dell. Well worth the money for what I received, and was just like new.

I was a little reluctant to get a refurb product BUT...this Acer Aspire laptop has totally changed my mind!! I have been a "Dell" girl forever but this laptop is fast, easy to use, and does exactly what I need it to! Best of all ...at a fraction of the original price!

I purchased two of these laptops at the same time, one for me and one for my boyfriend. One of them initially worked fine. The other one did not--very slow to log in, didn't stay connected to the WiFi, constantly getting a message "has encountered a problem and needs to reboot." We took the faulty computer into Best Buy within the 90 day repair warranty window and waited several hours while they installed some updates and said the computer was now working. This was not true. The computer had all the same problems when we got it home. By the time I was able to make a trip out again the warranty had expired and I was given the option of paying $150 to leave it with Geek Squad to hopefully repair it, with no guarantee that the computer would work afterword, or pay $199 for Total Tech Support (still no guarantee they would get the computer to work). I opted for the Total Tech Support. I got a text later saying to call the store, which I did, and spent about 10 minutes being shuffled to various departments and waiting on hold, before somebody got on and informed me that there wasn't anybody from Geek Squad available but they would call me back in 10 minutes. They called me back 2 hours later, I missed the call and went through the whole ordeal on hold again and when I finally got to talk to a person they informed me that the computer could not be fixed (I forget the exact problem but essentially some crucial component was broken when I bought the thing) and the only thing they could do for me was recommend I get a new one. They made sure to let me know that Best Buy doesn't actually refurbish the computers they sell, so it wasn't actually their fault that they sold me a broken computer. So I lost about $500 and more than a few hours driving back and forth and waiting for Best Buy to not fix anything on the stupid computer. I'm currently writing this review on the other computer, which has so far been functioning acceptably. It's very slow to start up and log in but once I do that it works ok so far for browsing the internet or watching DVDs. The whole thing has really given me a terrible impression of Best Buy as a company and I hope to avoid buying anything from them again in the future.

but it was not what my Daughter wanted for College classes. She wanted a lighter and faster computer, more like a Chromebook or tablet, but needed the storage that this laptop offers.
