The two main factors in this product is the speed and screen display, hands down are the two highlights of this laptop. You get a lot more features than your paying for this laptop. Has a nice backlight keyboard, good sound which can get a little bit tinning in the highs yet they keep you immersed in the movie or music. Did I say fast yet? I wasn't expecting much of the speed but Wow this laptop booted up within 2 minutes from the first power up. I also liked that the laptop only took 10 mins to get a full charge out of the box. Which makes me think if I needed this laptop at the moment of purchase I'd be able to get some work down pretty quickly out of the box. There has been a couple of times so far that my technology failed me and I needed to purchase an immediate replacement. Having power in the device helps a lot. Watching movies on this laptop is an experience in its self. The glass display looks good inside and out. Wi-Fi is fast 802.1ac. Bluetooth connection is strong. There's a lot of benefits and features in this laptop which I can go on about. I figure I'd continue with the Cons since they are a short list. First is the bloatware, not much but I freed up half a gigabyte of all the Acer brand programs, to my surprise that's nothing on most laptops. It's a bit on the heavy side if your a student with a few thick law books in your pack. This to be expected with convertibles. Lastly the convertible feature, I don't know now how useful this will be for me till I give this a longer try. I do appreciate the felt bottom for tablet mode.

We've owned a few Acer netbooks and notebooks over the years and have consistently loved them. Their reliability and performance for the price made them about the best value of any computers that we owned. This is by far the largest screen and beefiest hardware version of Acer that we've owned, and it's looking like it could be our best yet. I'm not sure we'll use it that much strictly as a tablet, but being able to fold the screen flat against the back of the keyboard certainly gives you that capability. I could see switching to that mode to watch a movie or streaming TV. I think it'll hold its own just as a large screen Windows 10 laptop, though. I really haven't found too much about this machine yet that I don't like. About the only thing that caught my attention is that it's a little slow to boot up. In these days of SSDs and tablets, we've gotten used to lightning fast boot times. Since this has a standard hard drive it does seem to take a while to boot up, but I can certainly live with that. Most of the time it'll just be waking up from sleep mode and not having to boot anyway. The only other thing I didn't like, and most Windows computers have this, is the "bloatware" put on it. But, compared to Dell and Asus computers I've had, the Acer's isn't quite as annoying. There are quite a few things I really like about this Acer, starting with the beautiful 15.6" touch screen. The full HD 1920x1080 screen is gorgeous and has a wide viewing angle. It makes the larger size and weight of the laptop totally worth it. I have a small, lightweight Dell laptop at work but many times it's a real struggle to read things on the screen. That's not a problem at all with this Acer. I also like the lighted keyboard, and the fact that it has a numeric keypad. That's another benefit of the larger size, I guess. Rounding out the positives are the 8GB of RAM, the 1TB hard drive, and the nice, long battery life. Time will tell if it'll be reliable, but given our good experience with previous Acers I'm expecting this one to be a work horse. Overall, I'd definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a good value on a large Windows laptop.

Works good, solid build, nice screen, love the color. Backlit keys are helpful. My only complaint is the number lock key shuts off every time you close the lid or it hibernates. It's not an isolated issue and it's annoying because ya use a pin number to unlock it. Acer hasn't resolved the issue despite questions from numerous individuals. One of the nice features is the number pad on the keyboard. I would have given it 5 stars if not for the constant irritation of the number lock key. The only reported fixes I have been able to locate are regedit tweaks or shutting off the quick launch feature and restarting it twice without entering the pin; neither of which ya should have to do for a silly number lock key to work properly. Despite that, it's a great value and does what you need it to do.

This is by no means a top of the line laptop at this price point, but it has some nice features. That is pretty much where the compliments end. I like the ability to switch to tablet mode and the touch screen and audio quality. However, once I finished setting everything up and playing around with my new toy, I put it to sleep. Once I tried to awaken it, nothing happened. The lights on the front were on and the unit was plugged in, but nothing. I held the power button down for a bit and still nothing, but the fan was running so I knew it was on. After searching Google for a solution (holding down the power button FOREVER, it finally came on. Then it remained on the Acer screen for 5 minutes and then I powered it down again. After repeating my steps, it finally powered on. It took over 6 minutes to boot to the desktop. The specs are decent and it has a nice sized hard drive, but overall I wouldn't recommend this laptop. Maybe if it had an SSD drive it would perform considerably better, but I wouldn't use this on a daily basis if I had to wait that long to log on.

    Love my Acer over HP

I have had only Hp products since the 80's. Back then it was Packard-Bell. When I fried my last one, I of course bought an HP. It was not nearly as good, or as fast as the previous HP. Since myy husband has an old Acer, which I keep tuned and cranked up easily, I purchased a new Acer laptop. The worst thing about it, is Win 10. Everything else is a breeze to use. We're in the market for a replacement for him soon, and I will get him a new Acer, Gen 7-Intel I5. Easy to set-up and maintain. He is computer illiterate, and I believe he could maintain this one with ease. I tried the Acer 7th gen Intel I7 and this one is actually faster!! Try it...you won't be sorry.

Bang for buck! Works beautifully with Ubuntu 16!

This is a great laptop for a coder. This is especially true with two important modifications in decreasing order of importance. 1. Install Ubuntu 16.04. I have found this laptop be exceptionally compatible with Linux 16.04. So far no bugs or hardware issues of any kind. Even the touch screen drivers work out of the box. Here's a straight-forward step-by-step installation guide. https://www.ubuntu.com/download/desktop/create-a-usb-stick-on-windows If you really want to keep windows you can setup a dual-boot situation by following the steps at the link below. It is slightly more involved but not complicated. http://www.everydaylinuxuser.com/2015/11/how-to-install-ubuntu-linux-alongside.html But seriously, you wont look back if you just do away with windows altogether. If you use office apps like Word, Excel, or Skype say, you can just create a Microsoft account and use them online for free! Not sure why people are paying for these apps. 2. Replaced the HDD with an SDD. This is what I did but this doesn't really have anything to do with this model in particular. I'm sure the 1TB HDD works fine but any laptop will vastly improve by installing an SDD. You'll get faster load times and less battery consumption. It's pretty straightforward. Remove twelve Phillips-head screws from the bottom and delicately pry off the plastic base from the under the silver-lined edge. Go easy and try to use a plastic tool for prying. If you're worried about aesthetic damage you'd better get something like the tools in the link below. The HD is obviously located. Be patient, go slow. Be delicate with wires. https://www.amazon.com/E-Durable-Professional-Non-Abrasive-Spudgers-Anti-Static/dp/B010DCQU7Q/ TLDR; PROS: Fast; Light-weight; cheap; superbly compatible with Ubuntu 16.04 LTS; long battery life (especially with SDD); easy to swap-out HDD for SDD; high-def 15.6" screen; numerical keypad; large-area multi-touch track pad. CONS: Fan can be loud in quiet environments like a library or a quiet office; glossy glass screen (gross but everything else was just too endearing about the laptop.

I've had mine for a few months now, and there have been no problems! It runs fast and smooth, and it's a quality product for the price you pay! The only thing that I'd say could get a bit annoying is the fact that I does make a humming noise after it has been on a while but that's to be expected since it's not ssd

Great 2 in 1 for the price

I was looking for a 2 in 1 laptop that had decent specs. While i5 and 8 gigs of ram isn't top of the line, this laptop definitely has all the right bases covered for the price. Bought this for 599 with 100 dollars off discount. Any price below 600 is a great price for this laptop. My only regret is that I couldn't wait any longer before the price went down more. The laptop is sturdy, fast and works well in computer and tablet mode. Would definitely buy it again. Chose this over an HP Envy with 12GB of ram based on price-- this was 200 dollars less and felt more durable. I read the bad reviews for this machine -- every company produce lemons-- I just finished returning an HP Lemon that I had purchased brand new.

Will Never Buyer Acer Again.... NEVER

For the most part the computer is okay, but has some very glitchy features.... the numbers keys - love that there is a separate keypad for that - hate that you have to press the numbers lock EVERY time you use them! The touch screen is WORTHLESS if you want to use a stylus - it barely works with a finger.... other brand laptops of similar price don't have these problems. What is worse is that after spending hours researching... there are not any solutions to fix these problems. I hate this computer and am stuck with it....ugh!

I use it mostly for college. The IPS panel is super nice especially when using it in tent. The battery does like 5-6 hours of video, power point, and web surfing on full brightness low power consumption mode.

Decided to upgrade to a better laptop compared to the cheaper/value laptops I've had in the past. Pleased with this Acer laptop with the better Intel processor, memory, and hard drive space. The backlit keyboard is extremely helpful and the battery life is awesome. I can't really find anything that I'm unhappy with....highly recommend.

    Touchpad is biggest problem

It's a nice looking pc, nice display, has enough power for my needs but the biggest issue is touch pad is annoying to use. It's often inaccurate and clicks by itself. The click button is poorly designed, not separated. You think you're clicking left but instead the right click goes off. Might need to upgrade the 8gb ram cuz I noticed I had multiple windows open and the pc started to stutter and slow down.

    Freezes all the time

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Got this laptop with a college student discount. The first one I got had a defective Windows: first boot led me to logging into Administrator which failed coz it was disabled by the manufacturer. Exchanged for a new one, only got worse. On first boot I uninstalled McAfee and installed Avira, after which it froze forever. Nailed it to the unclean uninstall program of McAfee causing anti-virus clash. Then I did a factory reset and did a clean removal of McAfee, removed the ton of useless bloatware (who needs a weblink app of Ebay!) This time the laptop ran slightly better, but it still freezes very frequently, even when CPU and RAM were idle. The potential culprit was the HDD controller: HDD shows 100% activity all the time. Googled it and found a potential conflict of the SATA controller and Win 10. This could have been solved following instructions I found online (not entirely sure). But I didn't expect to put so much effort just to make a brand new laptop to work the way it should. My 6-year-old Lenovo laptop is much faster than this thing. I seriously question if Acer tested the system before rolling out the products, especially after major Windows 10 updates. Also, the factory reset is not very clean: I installed a language pack before I did a factory reset. After that I was able to choose this language for Windows. I returned this trash for good. Will never buy Acer again.

Bought first one mid November. Within a month returned/exchanged for different unit due to hinges preventing easy open. About two months later, new machine wouldn't turn on. Acer insist I send for repairs. Three weeks later it was returned with two new problems, and acer insist again send for repairs. Another three weeks, they send back, gets stolen from being sent to wrong address. Three weeks later agin, acer finally sends a replacement. Within 3 days it won't power up either. Guess what, send it in again for repair. Another two or three weeks again, and ya can't reach anyone at acer higher than tech support level 2. So far I have been held hostage by Acer from mid February because of their policies and horrible horrible customer service. I am now over 8 weeks without computer, out $900 for computer and 8 weeks salary as this machine is my job too. Haven't worked since this drama began and acer will not hear it nor try to push things along. AVOID ACRR AT ALL COSTS. Don't say you weren't warned. You'll be in for a bumpy ride without a seatbelt.

The only pro about this laptop is the 2 in 1 and the fact that it is has a numeric keypad. I literally could've taken the money I spent on this laptop and just upgraded my old laptop and bought an external numeric pad. The fan constantly runs for no reason the touch screen is a joke. No wonder this got discontinued.

    Complete JUNK

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

The laptop looks nice and seems sturdy but is completely useless. I used it lightly for a an hour or two and noticed that it kept needing updates. After the last update it just started acting crazy. Restarting randomly for no reason, switching to tablet mode without me doing anything. I would frequently just lose the mouse on the screen for a few seconds. These issues may be due to Windows 10 but I can't be sure as my other laptop, which also uses Windows 10 doesn't have the same issues. At any rate, it's not my problem. I paid for a working laptop, I got a wonky POJ. I even took it back up to Best Buy and had it replaced with a brand new one. Same issues. Geek squad spent about an hour and a half on it remotely, didn't fix anything. I'm taking it back tomorrow and I had better get a complete refund. DO NOT BUY THIS JUNK.
