Acer Chromebook 515
||Posted . Owned for 8 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great machine, I even upgraded to the 516 GE which has a i5 but very similar and for the price it's great. I love Chromebooks with decent processing power because it connects with everything you own through Google. I even have a Pixel 9 which is highly compatible and everything is streamlined together. Could it have better everything? Sure, some will argue that but for a regular person or even a professional this is a decent upgrade.

Acer made a good one !
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. For a chromebook this Plus Edition works so well I may not need a PC. GooGle Play Apps works with every App I have installed. Battery life is a Go ! Nice and sleek thin weight a charm and the protective case it comes with is great, also I may mention, with a HDMI connection to my 55 inch TV works wonders, oh I forgot to mention the inTel i3 Processor, thanks

High quality laptop for browsing the web.
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I need replacement laptop for our old Windows one and this was my first Chromebook. I'm surprised how well it works for our purpose. The price was great and I thought it would feel cheap at that price but it's very high quality and even comes with it's own carry case! Definitely would suggest it for others.

Whish I got touch screen
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I wish I got the touch screen version because some features don't work if you don't have the touch screen. Also the keyboard does not have a backlight and I missed that from my old Acer Chromebook, but the Acer was a pretty good brand for me my old one expires in June 2024 so I had to get a new one.

Great machine. Highly recommend.
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got this laptop on sale for around $300 and for that price, this Chromebook is an absolute steal. It is fast, the keyboard is great, and the screen size allows me to actually get work done. Battery life is also very good. I would recommend this at full price as it is a Chromebook Plus model but if you can keep an eye out for sales, this is an incredible machine for the sale price.

An old Codger moves to chromebook.
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am on old guy. Been using desktop or laptop computers soince they came first came out. I've always been attached to a server at work, and pretty mcuh resistant to mograting to the cloud. I am now retired, and have had to make the full transtion to connecting to Google drive and one drive as I fully embrace Office 365 an my jumble of cloud based drives, folders and file systems. So, was this a good step to help "move me along"? Yes, but it's gonna take time. I did this at the behest of one of my kids who's a computer engineer, The biggest adjustment is getting used to a completely different keyboard and command struture. I desperatley miss my "right click", but I am learning the commands and, for me, relearning some from the good ol' days of DOS (yes, I'm that old.) but it's going to be a good and necessary shift. The speed with which this little monster launches and how quickly I connect to EVERYTHING, is light years from my 5 year old reliable Dell laptop that is coming to its predictable end. The battery life is amazing - but part of that, my son tells me, is due to the fact that i'm freed from massive amounts of software required by using a OS dependent on a networked server and programs running on my hard drive. Acer has been recommended to me before and so far, I'm duly impressed and pleased (though it's still early). It was about half the cost to replace my laptop, but I got a great deal from Best Buy on Black Friday. So far, it's been a good step, and I'm looking forward to this old dog learning some new tricks.

Pleasantly surprised
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This Chromebook delivers. Fast, soooo easy to use. It’s my first time w a Chromebook and I am getting used to it but I like it so far. I like that it automatically opens my gmail. Would recommend for people who want the simplicity of apple but a “little more microsoft.” Great battery life, I don’t have to worry. My only complaint so far is the keyboard key placement. I’m used to the traditional keyboard. But u can get yourself another keyboard and connect it.

So far, so good. Awesome Linux machine.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've been knocking around with one of those "toy" Chromebooks (slow, 4GB, 32GB, tiny screen, lousy keyboard) because it was cheap. I'd use it for light computing when traveling without the need for "full on" business computing and dev work. I had played with the Linux "development environment" a bit but when you activate it in the settings menu it suggests 10GB of storage and dumps you in a text terminal, so I assumed it was development environment as in "can run console emacs and you can do some POSIX command line development and work in it." Then, the other day, someone told me that no, it's actually Debian and is fully integrated with the ChromeOS desktop environment... they just don't install any X and/or GUI apps by default. I didn't actually believe them. But I came home, fired up my the Linux "development environment" on my toy Chromebook and installed LibreOffice. And then Darktable. And they absolutely DO integrate seamlessly with ChromeOS, down to the GNOME menus being the ChromeOS menus. I was dumbfounded. And I immediately knew I had to get a ChromeOS device that was a legit *laptop*, not just a lightweight "toy" for light work during travel. This fit the bill. On sale, six cores, 8GB ram, 128GB storage, full HD display, sliim. Was concerned at first with 250 nits brightness until I realized the slow as molasses, clunky Chromebook I've been using already was only 230 nits brightness, so it couldn't be any worse. And in truth it's great. This is indeed a "real laptop." Much more solid, very, very quick with office computing and web browsing. Faster than my aging 17" Macbook Pro with an older Core i7 in it. Fired up the Linux "development environment," allocated the vast majority of the onboard storage to Linux, installed all my favorite applications after some fiddling to figure out which Debian packages do things like install gnome styles that will carry over to gtk and LibreOffice, etc. What do you know. A full-featured, six-core Linux laptop running all my favorite Linux desktop applications that's speedy and eregonomic and modern. For less than $300 new thanks to the sale. This is the best-kept secret in computing. I can only imagine that they don't advertise this capability and don't install *any* Debian GUI applications or packages because they don't want people to know. Which is a shame, because it gets you a full, fast desktop OS environment on a modern laptop with fantastic battery life and that generates basically no heat--for peanuts. And there's no futzing around with drivers and config to get your Linux environment set up with all the hardware! It just works! I feel like I got the deal of the century.

Great Buy & Great Holiday Gift
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Thrilled with Best Buys price and the Acers Chromebook performance. To reference sports analogies its a basketball slam dunk baseballs grand slam bases loaded walk off homer and footballs overtimr kickoff touchdown run back for the win. Instantaneously I'm on the net, absolutely no wait to connect and I've never had that type of quality performance before. The price was scary good and makes a Great Holiday Gift That's affordable. An absolute great buy that I am so glad I did.
