My MacBook died, and I needed a laptop replacement. I realized that all my work is web-based, so I decided to try a Chromebook. I tried a couple of Acers but loved this model the best due to the keyboard feel and the specifications. I love the keyboard, the speed, the processor, the RAM, and the overall performance. I picked this computer for the process and RAM, not for gaming capabilities. It's slightly on the heavier side, but not a deterrent. I would highly recommend this computer, especially if you can find it on sale. Well worth the wait and money!

The Acer Chromebook Plus 516 GE is a well built and light weight device. I wanted to get a laptop for basic use, but cloud gaming was a good option to provide me or my boys a chance to game a little on our down time. The Chromebooks are very reasonable in price and I don't have to worry about carrying a larger device such as gaming laptop or console on travels, plus this can easily be played placed on a lap or surface to play anywhere (With Wireless Network). In the box you get the Chromebook itself, some manuals and the Charger, I appreciate that Acer put a USB-C port on both sides of the Chromebook and you can charge on either side. There is also a Full HDMI, USB-A and a Ethernet Port that collapses to accommodate the thin body. I also like the adjustable backlit keyboard. The 16" screen is a really nice IPS and 120Hz to boast, not touchscreen capable. Not a ton of capacity, but using it for cloud gaming, you really just need to worry about the streaming apps. I use Xbox Cloud a bit, but also recently started using GeForce Now for access to games I have purchased in my PC library. The Chromebook is a great choice for Cloud Gaming as the battery life is great with the Operating System, I have been able to game for hours, I did feel a little bit worried about the battery life (I have had a gaming laptop in the past) but you can easily get away with a gaming session off of the charger. I played both Forza Horizon 5 and Destiny 2 to start. On the screen they look amazing! Plus WiFi6 makes wireless a viable option, as a lot of places don't provide you physical network ports much anymore, if they do you have a port capable of a 2.4 Gigabit connection! My only gripe was not being able to get discord to work properly on this. The Play Store version wants to work for mobile or Tablet, I had no issue launching or signing in, but I could not get my cursor to click anything in the window. If you get the version off of the Discord page, it wants to run the Linux version, which will install and run, but then I had issues trying to get it to work with my headset. I haven't looked too much in to a solution, which I will need to look into how to fix for the future. A few of my friends I game with in PVE titles typically chat in discord and this is the one downside to me. The Chromebook OS is great for this, but can also hinder you a little bit if it's not plug and play per-say, it's more a third-party issue and not that of the device. I am looking forward to taking this on an upcoming trip and truly testing this outside of the house!

I was very pleased when my Acer - Chromebook Plus 516 GE 16.0" WQXGA Laptop Model # CBG516-2H-59S4-US arrived. I have been looking for a decently featured, light-weight laptop to take with me on vacation. At 3.81 lbs and loaded with high-end features for a Chromebook, the 516 GE meets my needs and takes the place of my tablet for web-browsing, email checking, photo viewing and general light gaming with a large, bright (350 NITS) 16" LED IPS Full HD screen with a fast 120Hz screen refresh rate. Acer says this Chromebook is built for Gamers. To that end (along with the brillant screen), the Model # CBG516-2H-59S4-US has a fast read-write 256GB PCI-e Gen 4 SSD for storage, an Intel Core 5-1240P Series 1 CPU running at 1.7GHz with Intel Iris Xe Integrated Graphics and a more than sufficient 8GB of LPDDR4 RAM (a lot for a Chromebook). It also has 4 great sounding speakers running DTS Audio and Smart Amplifier and vibration cancelling woofers. Since the Linux-based Chrome Operating System is primarily cloud-based and high-powered gaming is provided over the Internet through NVIDIA GeForce NOW's site (and others), Acer really built this laptop right by adding a 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet (RJ-45) port and super-fast Wi-Fi 6e capability. The online gaming I've done with this laptop was fast and fun and the connection was solid! I am also happy that the Chromebook Plus 516 GE provides (2) USB C Charging Ports, (1) HDMI 2.1 Ports, (3) Display Port Outputs, and a Headphone Jack. So far, the battery life of the Lithium Ion battery has been about 11 hours for me. I think that is great. It also has a neat colored backlit keyboard that can be adjusted to the color(s) you prefer. I like dark blue...Also, it has Bluetooth, a Front Facing Camera and a built-in mic. This Acer Chromebook Plus 516 GE 16.0" WQXGA Laptop Model # CBG516-2H-59S4-US will be my best buddy on our next trip. I like it! I would suggest this to a friend or family member.

I've had this Chromebook Plus for over a month and am very happy with it especially with BBuy's sale price. To keep this brief I will do pros/cons. Cons: sturdy but a bit heavy; no microSD port tho USB can get around that; I hate touchscreens but if you need one, nope. Pros: feels very sturdy; great specs at this price point such as Intel I5; backlit keyboard is awesome; screen looks great; bonus ports HDMI & Ethernet don't really need them but might come in handy. About the GE part (good gaming machine?) I can't say because the only VG I play is RISK: Global Domination which requires very little from hardware specs.

I have owned several Chromebooks over the years and this is the second best display I have had in (nothing could beat the OLED screen on my Samsung Galaxy Chromebook). The i5 processor is fast, 8Gb of memory is adequate. The 256Gb SSD to me is a minimum amount as the OS has gotten larger so you get less free space out of the box. I provisioned a 25Gb Linux environment on it and still have plenty of room to spare but the OS is up to about 60Gb with both the A and B OS partitions. My one complaint as other reviews have pointed out is the keyboard is adequate at best. For this kind of price you will always have some kind of tradeoff. I bought this when on sale. I probably would have passed on it at full price but at the price Best Buy was offering last month it was worth it. I am a Chromebook fan mainly because they are so reasonably priced but still performant. BTW, I did set up a GeForce now account and gaming on it was good enough. I took a 1 month pass to Nvidia's middle tier membership and running on WiFi it was OK playing a 10 year old FPS with a little stuttering at times, but it does come with an ethernet port built in which I did not bother to test.

Amazing display, backlit keyboard, great speed, stream games awesomely, play emulation games, even some steam games work! Battery life is great, plenty of ports, can't really find any negatives on this Acer. Go get one, you will not regret it.

Yo! So, I just got my hands on the new Acer Chromebook Plus 516 GE 2nd Gen from Best Buy, and let me tell you, it’s pretty sweet with a few tweaks from the last one. Screen’s Lit: First off, the screen is awesome. It’s like they cranked up the brightness to eleven, and everything looks super crisp. Whether you’re binging shows or scrolling through memes, it’s a feast for the eyes. Sounds Good: The speakers got a little boost too. They’ve got more oomph, so when you’re jamming to tunes or watching videos, it’s all good vibes. Sleek Look: The look is on point with this cool black finish and a slick silver edge around the trackpad that just screams classy. Trackpad Feels: Speaking of the trackpad, it’s made of this Ocean Glass stuff, and man, it feels smooth. Like, really smooth. It’s probably my favorite thing to touch on this Chromebook. Memory and Connectivity: Now, it’s got 8 GB of RAM, which I guess is OK for a Chromebook, but was really hoping for 16 GB. But the real kicker? It’s got a built-in 2.5Gbps Ethernet port. Yeah, you heard that right. That’s totally awesome for super-fast internet speeds. Keyboard Blues: Now, gotta keep it real—the keyboard’s kinda meh. It’s like it’s begging for some WD-40, and some of the keys wobble like they’re dancing to their own beat, hitting the sides of the chassis and making this scratchy feeling. Not a fan of feeling the springs every time I type, but hey, it gets the job done. Cool Running: Performance-wise, this baby’s got a new Intel chip that doesn’t get all hot and bothered like the old i5 did. And guess what? No more fan grinding noise. It’s whisper-quiet, which is pretty dope. So, yeah, despite the keyboard being a bit of a bummer, the new Acer Chromebook Plus 516 GE 2nd Gen is a solid pick. It’s got the looks, the cool factor, and it runs like a dream. Definitely worth checking out if you’re in the market for a new Chromebook.

Quality and battery life is amazing, and the visual quality is stunning. Storage space and processing power is top notch and I've never been disappointed in ACER quality

This Acer Chromebook Plus is a major step up from my 5 year old Chromebook. Fast, big screen and battery life is great. Would recommend it to anyone.

I recently bought this computer on sale. So glad I did. Screen size and resolution and brightness is excellent. Computer is fast. Seamlessly used my even larger desktop monitor without any fiddling. This computer actually would be worth the full-price as I compare it against all the other options available in the store. I'm surprised they don't have a model displayed on the floor. I had to ask for it to buy it. I HIGHLY recommend this computer. It is fantastic.

Very fast and capable Chromebook. Certainly able to run games from Playstore, and even some Steam games using the app. As far as everyday use, it is excellent. Keyboard felt good and track pad was responsive. My only complaint was the inability to change actual white balance of the screen. I found it to be slightly reddish / green in tint. This is what manufacturers call "low blue light screen". However, limiting "blue" light means it is impossible to achieve absolute white screen nfor photos etc. This may not bother others..... Otherwise, an excellent laptop.

Most Chromebook are all very similar and quite boring. This Chromebook stands out particularly well with its giant bright high refresh rate display and RGB keyboard. It’s designed for cloud gaming, but I don’t even use it for that, I just use it as a regular Chromebook that has great performance and stands out from every other Chromebook I’ve ever used. I also bought this on sale for $230 off, which was an absolute steal. Still definitely worth the full retail price.

I picked it up to replace my surface pro for gaming while I’m away from my main rig. Nothing wrong with the old but the fan noise and screen size were a little much. The screen is nice and big and the resolution looks great while running movies or Geforce Now. The added bonus was the free year of 2tb storage and the upgrade to the AI version. I was already using both at 20 a month so that is like another 240 that I’m saving. Speakers are good, and i dont miss thr touch screen at all,

Very impressed on the bright graphics, speed and overall performance. It’s been quite a while since i bought a laptop and my son really needed the upgrade. He absolutely loves it!

The resolution and screen look really good and GeForce now worked better then expected as well. Would make a nice travel laptop as it's pretty light.
