The Chromebook is fine. Minus 1 star for delivery, which was left on the ground next to the wrong rural mailbox, in an area with lots of mail theft, and rain.

Great chromebook. My 5 year old uses it to play minecraft. It took sometime to figure out how to set the parental rights though but the hardware is great!

So far we are loving this for our freshman in high school. No glitches and easy to use. Lightweight, keyboard big enough for his teenage fingers, and meets his needs.

Bought what I presumed was a brand new product and only about few days ago, I found out it wasn't. Chromebook died few days ago and battery wasn't taking a charge and charge light was not lit. Don't know where this unit came from and when I turned the unit over, there were loose screws on the back cover and one screw missing. When I removed the back cover, there was an unusually larger screw than what was installed in the unit. Seemed like the screw shorted out the circuit board after my attempts to recharge the battery failed. I have no intention of returning this unit to the store or get a refund but will no longer be a customer of Best Buy any more. Thank you for the sabotaged unit, may your store have some KARMA when customers read my post, ADIOS!!!

Do not buy this Chromebook! After 1-month, it started shutting off randomly, then keyboard buttons started to stick, then the space bar stopped working. Best Buy would not allow a return, honor the warranty to replace or assist with dealing with Acer. Acer would not replace the Chromebook because it was bought at Best Buy. Acer's only "warranty" protection is for me to pay to mail the Chromebook to Texas, providing my own required packaging (which recommends 5 inches of bubble wrap!), wait weeks, and then have the chromebook shipped back to me "likely" repaired. Acer confirmed this is the only option under the warranty. So I've paid a ton of money for a Chromebook and more $ to have it repaired, and will end up with one that might work and has been sent cross county several times. Terrible product with terribly customer service from both Best Buy and Acer.

I purchased the Acer CB Plus 714 spin and it only lasted two months before I'm having to ship it off to Acer in TX for a warranty repair. First it was a loose hinge and now it won't even power on... complete failure. I can also hear what sounds like a part rattling around inside the case. This tells me there is a lack of quality control at Acer. I don't recommend this model.

Has a lot of positives, but is always randomly restarting. Acer acknowledges the problem and says a fix "should" be in SW v.131. I have v.132 and it restarts multiple times a day. I'm stuck with it and nothing will ever be as good as the original Pixelbook. I even liked the Pixelbook Go, but the screen was a little small. GOOGLE make a new Pixelbook!!! P.S. Speakers are weak even for basic needs.

We’re sorry to hear that your Acer Chromebook is restarting during use, and we understand how frustrating this can be. Google has released an update to address unexpected restarts in ChromeOS. The updated version, ChromeOS R137, is currently available on the Beta channel. This update is planned for release to the Stable channel in early June 2025. Once it's available, your Chromebook will automatically update to ChromeOS R137.
If you continue to experience unexpected restarts after your Chromebook updates or have any additional questions, please reach out to our support team immediately at 1-866-695-2237.

I’m excited to see that Google is finally starting to treat the Chromebook as a real laptop compared to the child’s toy that it started with. Like a training bicycle for your toddler, Chromebooks were cheaply made disposable laptops that you could give to your child for the most basic computing tasks and not really care all that much when they poured soda all over or lost it on the playground. Not so with this Acer Chromebook Plus Spin 714: this thing is amazing! In case you did not know, the Plus in the Chromebook Plus name designation is not a marketing trick, but it is actually a new category of Chromebook that has additional software features unlocked by Google that are not available to Chromebooks missing the Plus name designation. Chromebook Plus devices include a faster CPU, more RAM, more Storage, a better Web Cam and a better Display compared to a non-Plus Chromebook. I think the most exciting feature unlocked on Chromebook Plus devices is the 12 months of Google AI at no cost. Getting 12 months of fun with Gemini Advanced and 2 TB of cloud storage allows you a wonderful preview of how A.I is changing the computing world - for better or worse with features like auto adjusting video call lighting and quality, Google Photos Magic Eraser, and full access to Google Gemini. So let’s talk about the physical Chromebook Plus. This thing looks great! My wife saw me typing on it and thought I was working on my Apple MacBook Air. As a convertible laptop Acer has done a great job with a very sturdy construction and solid hinges knowing that you will be bending it on a regular basis to convert it from standard laptop mode to tablet mode. With a backlit keyboard that has smooth and responsive keys and trackpad that is large enough to use (but not overwhelmingly huge) this Chromebook is a joy to type on. There’s dual Thunderbolt 4 ports HDMI and the power button the left side panel and a physical volume up/down button, RCA headphone jack and USB 3.1 using USB-A on the right panel. The unit includes DTS Audio with speakers placed on the left and right of keyboard. If there is one complaint I have about this machine it’s that the speakers are weak. They sound clean and crisp, but they are not loud. The included webcam has a built in privacy slider allowing you to easily disable the camera when not in use. The touchscreen uses Antimicrobial Corning Gorilla Glass and is responsive to the touch, offering a great amount of brightness and contrast for all the Youtube videos I’ve been watching lately. Battery life has been amazing and since the device charges with USB-C I can now charge my iPhone and this device with the same cable. Overall this is just a fantastic device!

So setting it up was super easy and self explanatory. Different people including children are able to access they're separate accounts easily and they enjoy the option to use touch screen. It’s super light and portable making it an easy option for use outside of the house. It’s a device that benefits everyone whether it be google office apps for work or educational apps for kids! With any new computer the processor is going to be really fast, but with the Intel processor built into this laptop, it'll stay fast for longer, even while down loading up a bunch of apps. The downloading/uploading speed depends on your internet situation along with the quality of how an app runs. The keyboard is quiet and feels very smooth when typing. I enjoy the experience of folding it over for tablet mode to enjoy apps that don't need the keyboard. The screen is wide enough at 14 inches for watching videos and navigating through apps. The memory is not the best but if you're looking for a laptop with storage, Chromebook is not for you.
