I purchased this laptop for my son in September of 2018. He had primarily used it for school work / google docs and gaming with Steam. In July of this year, the device has completely died, it would not even power on. The blue led would be present with the power cable and a blue led present when you press the power button, but the laptop would never attempt to turn on. I tried every reset key combination I read about in forums including using the pin hole reset on the bottom of the laptop and completely letting it drain power and still it would not even attempt to power up. No way to exchange it or get a new one per Best Buy. Only could be sent out from California to Kentucky to be repaired under the manufacturers warranty. Signed, Laptopless.

First off this review is not going to be a tech breakdown, Ill leave that to those who have much more know how than I do. I'm just going to give my experience impressions. My first impression is this is nice looking device. Second, this is one FAST PC. Ive never had any computer with a SSD hard drive, so I did not know what I was missing. I may never do back, the SSD is lightning fast, it is the only way to go. This device is also easily upgradable, Acer did it right with this one. SSD and RAM are easily accessible and easily replaceable. This laptop is fast now, so I can only imagine what a RAM upgrade would do for performance. I'm not a heavy gamer, but the few games I do use are fast, smooth, and the graphics are excellent. This has a nice bright, crisp and clear 1080 HD screen, and the speakers are very clear and loud. This is actually the first thing I noticed was how good the speakers sound. My main use for this laptop is photo and Video editing, I have PS Elements 1018 and PhotoMatix installed. Both programs are wickedly fast, the best experience I've had with them so far is on this device. The device comes loaded with Power Director, this is a big pleasant surprise. I put together a quick video of our last vacation and I am impressed with Power Director. This device handled all my editing with ease, even the most power hungry transitions flowed smoothly. Bottom line, the Nitro 5 has the power to ease through the most intensive programs, and is unbelievably fast with everyday computing like MS Office and surfing the net. If you are looking for a fast reliable and good looking device, look no further, this is it.
