Great Budget laptop!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I own an older Nitro 5 and that was good for the price but this one is better in every way basically. This has an Intel i5-9300H and a Nividia GTX 1650 GPU with 4GB of GDDR5 memory. Also has a 512GB PCIE SSD and 8GB of DDR4 memory in single channel. This model has the 17 inch screen with very thin bezels. Compared to my older Nitro model which has bigger bezels and only 15 inches this 17 model is only slightly bigger then my old one but with a bigger screen because of the thinner bezels. The screen is only 60hz but with only a 1650 which is better then a 1050 ti but slightly worse then a 1060 its screen is good enough. The 1650 is good enough to play most modern games if you dial back the settings which is great if you're not a hardcore gamer or on a budget. My old Nitro only had a i5-7300HQ which is a 4 core cpu with a max turbo of 3.6GHZ but didn't have hyperthreading unlike this i5-9300H. This cpu also has a higher turbo clock speed at 4.0GHZ which is better as well. This laptop is great for people who don't need a demanding gpu or for people who don't want to spend over $1,000 for a laptop.

I Bought 2 and Both had issues

My first one worked fantastic for little over a week but then I spotted a stuck pixel. I returned it the next day but knew that it sometimes happens with screens and I maybe got a bad egg so I ordered another one expecting it to work fine. To my dismay the second one brand new out of the box the keyboard was basically nonfunctional with a little under half the keys not working or even triggering the backlit keyboard and no amount of tinkering fixed it. The real hero here was Best Buys return policy and how easy it was to return both laptops. But unfortuneatly I'm really disappointed with the Nitro 5.

Don't buy, stay away!!

Great price for a budget gaming laptop, but sucks on Quality control. This laptop arrived defective with non working keys on the keyboard! Customer service from Acer suck and no help and worse, best buy also was no help! I'm returning this back for a refund and buying a Asus. With so much bad reviews on the nitro 7 I just don't understand why best buy would even sell this! Step your game up Acer, build better products or consider in filling bankruptcy because your selling us defective products!!!

Will be returned!

I come directly home after buying this laptop, start updating windows and drivers in the device manager. Notice that the nvidia 1650 graphics card isn't listed in the device manager. Reset this computer back to factory, now it shows the blue screen of death instead of booting up. Will return first thing in the morning. Was skeptical of Acer anyways, now I know for sure.

Sadly mine was a dud

It ran beautifully handled games very well minecraft and dayz standalone on standard settings but after a week most of the keyboard stopped working and i could not power on the machine. Had to return it.

Dead after 2months

My son's bday gift. Suckered in to paying another $600 for additional protection plans. On pick up was told laptop was defective, unable to be powered on. That was a big hint to me to not purchase the laptop. Went ahead and let them give me another brand new laptop. Keyboard had intermittent response after 2 months than completely died. Next day we were unable to power it on. All to be told it could take 4 weeks to repair as it is a send out.

Good looking but can't perform well.

But when I open the box I noticed the cover for the ethernet cable was loose. I guess it's not brand new? But I thought that's not a big problem. The biggest thing that makes think this is a trash computer is when I download my favorite game crossfire, It can't even perform well on a 2008 designed game? It's just a Very basic Graphic game. The FPS is very unstable. And the WiFi connection is bad. I just need to return this computer. Only thing to compliment is that the design of this laptop looks ok.

Had to return twice
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First one came in and only about 6 keys worked on the keyboard, had to wait another week to get another one that after 3 days of use, had the keyboard stopped working again and then just stopped working period. Both times In tried to work with acer to resolve the issues, they had no interest in helping out, they just directed me to deal with best buy for resolution. I wouldn’t recommend this pc or anything from Acer in general after the poor customer service I received. Best Buy on the other had, did an awesome job in helping me find a replacement.

Stopped turning on

It was during the one year factory warranty. This all happened during the lock down. Best Buy told me I had to go through manufacturer. Acers support web sight wouldn’t allow me to finish a warranty claim. Their phone number had been discounted or was no longer in service. Now what do I do? Thanks for all the help Best Buy. Sarcasm

Don't buy. Keyboard problems.

I returned the first one because 1/4 of the keys don't work. On this new one 1/3 of the keys don't work! Brilliant customer service! I will not be ordering a third. I won't EVER purchase an Acer product again, and I will encourage everyone I talk to not to as well. Including you dear review reader. This product is junk. Don't be swindled.

Absolute Garbage! Broken Keyboard...

This laptop has serious keyboard problems. Many keys simply don't work. This isn't a one-off scenario either. I googled it... and my jaw dropped. Page after page of people with the same issue. So I contacted Acer support. They had me try 3 different things in addition to the things I had already tried. We never could get it to work. So, we took it back and got something else. Before you buy this, just google Acer keyboard and see if you want to be bothered with these issues.

Avoid

Purchased in September 2019 and the motherboard had to be replaced in July 2020 because it stopped turning on. That was done under warranty, so no charge to me but it did have to be sent away for a couple of weeks to be fixed. Now the computer is not working again, just not turning on. I’m hoping it will get fixed under warranty as this is clearly an issue with the device, but I doubt it will since it’s now been over a year since purchase.
