Customers are saying
Customers consistently note the excellent performance and large screen size as major strengths of the Nitro 5 gaming laptop. Positive feedback also highlights the good graphics, RAM, keyboard, and overall value for the price. However, some users mention that the battery life could be improved, and the laptop's weight and potential for fan noise are recurring concerns. While some users find the laptop runs warm, others report it as easy to use and upgrade.

At the top of budget gamers!!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.THE BREAKDOWN: Let me start by saying this is budget gaming at its finest. I think for this price range you would be hard pressed to find something close to this. The roomy 17 inch display (60hz) makes viewing for gaming and other thing very nice. It also has an Intel i5 9th generation 2.4 GHz processor, Nvidia GTX 1650, has 8Gb 2666MHz ram (expandable) and a M.2 512GB SSD. The packaging was very well done. It was just enough packaging to get the product delivered. In the box was everything needed to get this product up and running. It even came with a soft zip case. The look and design of this laptop is amazing. One thing that wasn’t perfect to me on the look was the plastic feeling of the laptop. It looks amazing from across the room but when you actually pick it up it feels a little cheap. The display was wonderful. To be clear this is not a 120Hz dismay it is only 60Hz but to be honest I didn’t even notice the difference between this one and another laptop that I own that is 120Hz. I like the color performance. I felt as if the blacks were black and the colors were vibrant enough. Not only did I play games but I watched streaming video on this screen and it did not disappoint. One tip would be to make sure you don’t have the brightness at 100% especially at night or it will blind you….This laptop can get bright. Oh and one more point on the display is the thin bezel without the extra real estate around the screen. There are 1 USB 2.0 port, 2 USB 3.0 ports, USB 3.1 (C) port, headphone jack and an HDMI. There are no SD cards slots which can be a downfall if you are a creator or into that. One comment on the charging port is that is in a bad location. Not sure why it would on the right side middle, such an awkward place. The sound for me was just ok. Nothing too special there. I pretty much just where my headphones anyway. Every game I played at very high settings and still had 60+ fps. I thought it did very well but the fan did get loud but was only noticed when I removed my headphones. The battery was at about 1.5 - 2 hours unplugged when playing video games, while web browsing and playing video’s on youtube, xfinity, Netflix and Hulu the battery lasted anywhere from 3-4 hours. The battery does charge rather fast. Another thing that I wanted to mention was the Nitro Sense. This little feature gives you cooling information/fan speed and lets you pick the speed and is customizable. The fans have a dual exhaust port design which I found rather useful when playing with the laptop on my lap. It has a key on the keyboard that you can use to access it. One last thing I want to cover is the backlit keyboard. I like the red backlit keyboard but wished that there was a more customizable color palette. PRO’s: -Very well built and stylish -Setup was easy and was up and running fast -Backlit keyboard -Lightweight -Nitro Sense -Nvidia GeForce GTX 1650 -Quad-core Intel i5-9300H -17.3” screen -1080p 60Hz -M.2 PCIe 512GB SSD CON’s: -Power Cord on the middle of right side -No SD Card Slot -Only one color of the backlit keyboard -The computer itself has a plastic cheap feel but looks amazing SUMMARY: Overall, I feel that this product is really good and probably at the top of what you actually get in this price range. I found this gaming laptop to absolutely amazing. There are some things I didn’t like but they have no real effect on the actual gaming performance of this laptop. I would definitely recommend this to a friend if they are in the market for something like this.

Great, No Problems
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've played 30+ hours of Destiny 2, an online multiplayer game, in a room without air-conditioning most of the time (I prefer it that way, my ceiling fan is enough) and have had no thermal throttling. My keyboard works fine. No problems.A much better buy than my 2K+ Mac Pro with cannot handle graphically intensive games.

Perfect for most!

Great Gaming Laptop
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. For beginners, this gaming laptop is perfect! My son has enjoyed it very much. We received a lot of our information from a best buy associate who knew quite a bit about gaming laptops. We compared to other models similar in pricing and decided to go with the Acer Nitro. So far, my son is very pleased and hasn't had any issues with it.

Great When Working, Horrible Quality
||Posted . Owned for 5 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I absolutely love this laptop when it’s working, but there are some quality issues. Within the first few weeks, the speakers started making crackling sounds just from playing any type of sound. After 4 months of owning and using it, the battery completely failed and wouldn’t charge anymore. It took over an hour on the phone with Acer’s customer service just for them to say I need to send the laptop back to be fixed. They also needed 1 business day just to send me a shipping label of where it should be shipped. Overall not happy with how early on I had issues, and how poorly Acer’s customer service handled it.

Great Gaming Laptop in its class
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Acer Nitro 5 is a great gaming laptop for this price range. It basically checks off everything you need to start gaming. This model has a 17.3 inch 1080p 60hz screen which is great for gaming. For storage it comes with a 512GB SSD. It has 8GB of ram and comes with a i5-9300H processor. The graphics card is an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1650. All this combined produces a great gaming laptop for its class and price. I/O ports include 3 USB ports, USB type C, headphone jack, HDMI, and an Ethernet port that I appreciate. Also the keyboard is backlit. I have tried playing Overwatch, Apex, and Fortnite with high settings and I am getting 60+ FPS on all games. Games seem smooth and fast. As with all gaming laptops you can hear the fans kick up when it needs to cool down but that is normal. I play with headsets on so I really don’t notice any noise so that’s not a problem. I am really enjoying the Acer Nitro 5 it really exceeded my expectations. Oh I also almost forgot to mention that when I was unboxing the laptop it was a surprise to find that Acer included a laptop sleeve for free! I would recommend the Acer Nitro 5 for anyone looking for a gaming laptop.

Keyboard issues- apparently a common acer problem
||Posted . Owned for 3 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Be bought this laptop for my son and the family to use. Initially, it was our best laptop in the house and everyone loved using it due to the great graphics and fast processing when gaming or doing other activities. However, 2 months into use, some of the keys stopped working suddenly. Now even more keys don't work and my son has to use an external keyboard to even enter in the password. We've tried many of the "fixes" we see in the online forums - reboot after a battery drain, uninstall and reinstall the keyboard driver, etc. - but no success. This is an $750+ brick. Our most expensive laptop we've bought to date, yet the only one we've had problems with. We really wanted to like this laptop, but there is no way I can recommend this to others.

Best Laptop Ever! Great Laptop For Fellow Simmers!
||Posted . Owned for 7 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have decided to come back and do a review after a certain amount of months. I was nervous about purchasing this laptop due to some negative reviews, but I decided to purchase anyway. So far this laptop has been amazing, and as a nursing student it has helped me tremendously. From gaming to even doing simple college work, this laptop has never let me down! The fan can get noisy and it can get a little hot, but its not anything super strenuous. Everything is still working excellent! As mentioned, I use this game for school, but mostly I use it to play the Sims 3 and Sims 4, and this laptop runs both EXTREMELY smooth. I can play Sims 4 on "Ultra-Highest Graphics", and I can also play comfortably with Reshades (which can lag some computers but with my Acer I can play with these without any lag). The Sims 3 can also run smoothly (I noticed some people have stated that it has crashed but I have never experienced any crashes while gaming). Overall this is an amazing buy! I love this laptop to death. ThANK YOU ACER!

Good laptop
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. For the short time I owned the laptop it was nice. I firing test many heavy games on it but the ones I played ran at a good frame rate. Keep in mind that this a a pretty big laptop but it’s understandable due to the screen size. Only reason I returned it is because a found a laptop with a bit better specs.

Great Computer
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I LOVE LOVE LOVE my new computer. I like the touch of the keyboard, all the features it has, the fact that it is lighted, and the clarity of the screen. My last computer was 10 years old and I could take a nap waiting to get from one function to another. This computer is sooo fast! I'm very happy with my purchase.

Great basic gaming computer!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. While not the most powerful rig around, it’s a very good computer. Bought for office type work and some casual gaming on the side. It has more than enough oomf for my needs, and allows me to multi task with a number of programs at the same time.
