Waste of money. This laptop has decent specs but it is slower than you would expect. The Wi-fi has a short reach, as short as it gets. Luckily there's an ethernet port. It gets a lot hotter than any other laptop I've owned, and quickly. The battery life is not impressive.

I give the laptop a 3.7 out of 5. It's an amazing laptop and with some tweaks you ca get 12 hour battery life! Also the low rating I gave is because it came with a dead pixel. :( Other than that, It is well worth the money, I'm having trouble finding compatible SSD PCIE and RAM because I want to upgrade it to 64GB. Acer if you read this can you link me to compatible components for this laptop? Also does it Support 4TB or just 1TB?

My previous gaming computer was a ROG-Z with a Ryzen 7, 3750H processor. It was plenty fast for my needs, but I had a chance to acquire this Acer Predator gaming laptop. Prior to my ROG-Z gaming laptop, I had an Acer gaming laptop (Nitro from 2018). I was really underwhelmed by the previous Acer product and hated the red backlit keyboard. I got rid of this Acer and purchased the ROG-Z and was happier with it So it goes that I wanted to upgrade from my now 2 year old ROG gaming laptop to something newer and I decided to test another ACER - I learned to avoid their budget level and went for something comparable to the ROG one. I am blown away by this new ACER. This is definitely a more premium unit with a metal body against the cheap plastic of the NITRO series. This laptop is also got some weight to it - perfect for being a more desktop bound unit. The keyboard is absolutely stunning in an easily readable white lighting. The display is amazing as well for the money. It is not a touch sensitive one but that didn't matter to me. Performance observations - just in updating Windows and installing programs - this thing is blazing fast. It is very noticeably faster than my ROG - of course two years separate these processors. This Acer Predator has a wonderful Intel i7 11th generation chip. And while this has the same amount of ram as the ROG-Z, it feels like it has more ram. I ran the Time Spy 3DMark test on both units - the Ryzen 7 (2019) produced a main score (left side of the score panel); the Acer was incredible as it ran a 7408 in the same test. In the other subscores on the right side of the panel, Graphics scores increased from the ROG-Z's 4411 to the Acer Predator's 7262; the CPU score of the ROG-z was 3166 while the Acer more than doubled that to 8364. Impressions I could easily tell the difference in responsiveness from the ROG-z with the Acer Predator. On the Windows 10 updates, this thing was simply amazing as it blazed through the updates - even going into the forced 21h2 update which can take an eternity on some computers, it was incredible how quickly it was installed on this. Visually the screen results are amazing compared to the ROG-Z. I could actually tell a visible difference in how the 3DMark game played. The ROG-Z had almost the appearance of a weak 1080 upscale whereas the Acer Predator delivered crystal clear images without any hint of pixelation. Movement was butter smooth. I edit videos with my ROG-Z, but will be switching over to the Acer Predator soon enough. I've only had the Acer for about 8 hours but I can say that there is such a noticeable difference that the ROG-Z could end up being sold. Overall. You get what you pay for in computers. If you do not need a light and mobile laptop, this Acer Predator is simply stunning. I don't often give glowing reviews for products because I expect a lot and rarely does something impress me at every turn. This computer was a delight to experience and I can't wait to use it more!

Very pleased. My main reason for purchasing this laptop was the RTX 3060, along with adequate cooling to run the GPU at higher wattage, all in a good looking low profile case. The 2K resolution screen is a perfect pairing for the quality hardware in this machine.

    Crazy Heat Issues

I've had this laptop for over 6 months now, and at first, it was doing great in most games I was playing. I was noticing that CPU temperatures were at a constant 85-90+ degrees celcius while gaming, and this is with the fans on maximum speed. These are games that are not very demanding games, such as World of Warcraft, on medium settings. I've tried cleaning the vents for dust, cooling pads, limiting the max cpu power. I'd like to open the laptop up to apply a better thermal paste, but after watching plenty of videos online, it seems like on this laptop, that is a task not suited for someone who isn't experienced with working on laptops. The heat issues are now affecting the performance of the laptop, and causing fps drops like crazy while gaming. Not sure if there's more I can do at this point, because this intel CPU is restricted from undervolting as well.

Best gaming laptop I’ve bought so far and I’ve been through quite a few in the few months. So far no issues and the three fans help keep it cool which I haven’t seen on any other laptop yet.

    Thermal Paste Issue

2.5 Stars because simply two reasons: 1.) Geek Squad cannot re-solder components on laptops. 2.) This particular laptop was a lemon with bad thermal paste. TLDE: Came from the factory out of box with minimal/no thermal paste for the CPU. Reached 100°C the third day I owned it. Otherwise: Great laptop specs but that thermal paste not being there to transfer the heat efficiently was a huge bummer, I wanted to love that laptop so badly.

I do not understand the decision to make the upgradeable slots on this laptop near impossible to reach. If you want to buy a new laptop and be stuck with 500gb of nvme storage forever then buy this one. The alternative is paying Acer to upgrade it for you. Even if you buy the 3080 model You are now stuck with 1tb of m.2 gen 4 storage forever.
