I wasn't sure the screen resolution would be enough, and I wasn't sure I'd use the touch screen. I was pleasantly surprised on both counts. Also, the advertised 10-hour battery life is much less exaggerated than I expected; I routinely get 9.5 hours of use. I use some web sites that make the browser work hard; schematic capture and 3D CAD, as well as email, YouTube and music, so with lighter use, you might get more than 10 hours. It feels solid. The keyboard isn't going to set any speed or comfort awards, but it's better than most Bluetooth keyboards I have used with tablets. It's thin and light, though obviously not as light as a tablet. I have installed a few Android apps and they all seem to work fine.

Let me start by saying this is a GREAT little notebook/tablet+, but it's not a computer. It's a glorified tablet. And really not even as good as my Samsung 8" A. I bought this because everyone said the windows units at this size are too slow and don't work. I have a 17" at home I'm tired of lugging around and needed something I could carry and get my work done while out of the office. This is not it. My hand wants to shift to the left when typing. I all the apps I can use on my tablet don't work. I needed to use MS Word and Excel. Both are a problem. I had to change all the colors in my spread sheets to match what the app on this would offer. That was a P.I.T.A. Then I needed to update a calendar, the word app didn't allow for this. I tried to pull up one from another customers file and had to close the lid. It automatically saved all the new info into the customers calendar. And now I've lost that info and don't have the new customers in. IT's been a REAL mess. IF you want this, you have to use GOOGLE! Drive functions. It you are a person that only uses Google Drive apps and operations then this is the best little notebook you can get. IT's fast, easy to use, so fun the touch screen, touch pad, keys, flip to tablet mode All are GREAT! I love these. I would totally keep it. If is wasn't for the fact that I really needed a windows unit for what I do. If you use windows and think you can settle for the apps-WRONG. just get a windows unit and make work for you. This was so awful to work with I wasted my customers time trying to get this to work with my MS Word and Excel files that my customer got upset and I looked like and idiot.

I bought this after a two week's worth of research and I'm very satisfied with my purchase. NOTE: Buy a geek squad warranty, and be worry free. I'm on my second Chromebook because my first had a dead pixel. Yes, that was the only issue. Everything else worked PERFECTLY but the dead pixel on a brand new device was an issue. Best Buy replaced it in store faster than I could scrub all of my data from it. So far, the chromebook has performed remarkably. If your preferred internet browser is Google Chrome, you'll feel right at home. Just turn it on, sign in to your Google account and bingo, all of your bookmarks, preferences, addons and extensions will move right over. The battery life is crazy for a small computer. I get about 10 hours out of it before it needs a charge. The keys are quiet and responsive and I can move around it like I can on my desktop. I can only speak for myself on this next point but all of the apps and programs I use on my desktop such as twitter, instagram, netflix, etc all work just as well as they do on my desk top.The touch screen is fantastic. If you have a smartphone you can navigate this with no problems. A nice little feature that I've seen omitted on many reviews is that when you fold the screen all the way back into tablet mode, the keys and mouse pad "shut off" so that you won't inadvertently press anything interrupting your tablet browsing. The audio (for me) is just fine. I'm never sitting too far away from it when I have audio playing so I can hear it just fine. It is, after all a laptop so don't expect home theater quality sound. Lastly the memory on it may seem small but it comes with an expandable SD card slot so you can upgrade the memory capacity as well as the 100gig of Google Drive space you get when you buy a brand new one. TL;DR: Everything works perfectly fine, I'm happy with it, if you're looking for a "bang for your buck" chromebook, I can see no other one to buy.

I bought this little ACER because I needed a small, lightweight notebook for my trips abroad, and this worked perfectly. I only used it to check mail, have not tried out all the features yet, but I am a big fan of Google, so am sure everything will work fine. For the price, it's excellent value for your buck.

I have an awesome laptop but wanted another smaller one with touchscreen feature. I ended up buying this chrome book and it was a great buy. It comes with free Google docs and other Google software that are all compatible with Microsoft Word and other Microsoft softwarethat you usually have to buy separately and ate pretty expensive. I work with the court system and church. I've used this chrome book to review and edit court and church documents made with Word with the Google docs and it worked well. The only downer is that you cannot watch videos or movies on the devise. Other than that I love it! It's very light weight and fits perfectly into my purse. I've already recommended it to friends!

My 8th grader uses Chromebook at school. Purchasing one for home was a great decision. Size is perfect! I can sit next to him at the kitchen table and see the screen while helping him with his homework. It's fast and great for surfing the web. The price is extremely reasonable as well.

I wanted to try a chromebook and at the store I tried several of them. I have partial hearing loss and I wanted one that had great audio so that when I video chat with someone, I can hear them with no prpblem. I also wanted one that was touchscreen. This chromebook is perfect for my needs. It runs smoothly, its very lightweight, you have several positions you can put it in, and the screen looks crystal clear. I absolutley love my first chromebook. Do your research on this one, you wont be let down

Nice laptop, great battery life, descent performance, unless multi-tasking. Don't expect to have multiple browsers with numerous tabs open while simultaneously watching streaming video or playing music. Stick to a basic single tab browser and maybe background music and you'll be fine. Otherwise you'll be faced with errors reporting your computer is out of memory. But we have had this for a while and it has been a solid basic laptop that runs great as long as you learn to manage your ADD and not keep too many programs running. It also boots up super quick which is a plus. It stays in standby for days without charging. Nice portable lightweight and super inexpensive laptop that will get the basics done.

I really like the Chromebook. Its smaller size is manageable and easy to carry. Battery time is more than sufficient for my uses. The only drawback is the keyboard is smaller and needs some getting used to and if you are used to a 10-key style number on the keyboard, you don;t have it. All in all, really nice.

I purchased this with a couple of options in mind. One was portability and other was ease of use. It fit both of these options and the screen is good. The gorilla glass touch screen makes a huge difference vs the matte finish. It is quick at processing and video was not an issue. The added benefit of the Google Play store made the experience even better. What I found is that I was missing Windows, so I returned this device for that reason. This is an excellent chromebook, you just have to have the proper expectations.

I was in the market to buy a laptop computer, but my son suggested I look into chrome books. With the help of a Best Buy employee, i decided on purchasing this one. I absolutely LOVE it. It does everything I need it to do. It's fast and light weight. I love the touch screen feature and I am extremely happy with my purchase. I most definitely recommend this chrome book to anyone.

This is a great and inexpensive computer for people who travel. I admit I am still sort of getting use to the touch screen as well as the quite very different control system compared to a Microsoft system or an Apple system. However, I am really liking the Chromebook in almost every way. The only thing I am not enjoying about it is that I am having a hard time trying to figure out how to store files permanently onto the hard drive that are not directly related to an app file or something like that. Otherwise the whole thing is great.

I was looking for a device that could take care of light computer work and also serve as an e-reader, and the design of this Chromebook handles both really well. This device has let me replace my ancient netbook and underpowered Windows tablet with a single machine, and I've been impressed with the speed this Acer runs at. Having two full-size USB ports as well as an HDMI port is a design choice I am really happy to see - it makes life much easier. My only minor quibble would be the proprietary power supply, but I guess expecting this kind of hardware to run off USB charging is probably unrealistic.

Only buy if you're committed to Google

There are some obvious downsides to purchasing a Chromebook: Less storage space on the device, inability to use standard Windows programs, etc. If you're committed to using Google products/services, none of that should stand in the way. The Acer R11 is a great size for portability with an intuitive touchscreen that I end up using far more than the trackpad. Apps, specifically Google apps, make this Chromebook shine compared to a Windows laptop. Google Keep stores all of my notes for easy access across all of my devices, Google Calendar offers a built-in, easy way to keep track of my schedule, and Google Drive provides 100 GB of free storage space for any new Chromebook buyer. With built-in access to Google Drive on the R11, Google Drive's storage essentially becomes an extenstion of the device's standard storage, making up for the low amount of storage space inherent to the device. For programs that don't work on Chrome OS such as Discord or Microsoft apps, there are easy workarounds such as using the app version (of which I use Discord and Microsoft Word all the time) or finding alternatives on the Chrome Web Store whcih mimic the layout of the Windows program, such as with Discord. Chromebooks are not for everyone, but for those looking to intergrate the many aspects of their life into one easy-to-use source, the R11 is one of the best Chromebooks on the market and won't disappoint.
