I purchased the program as a safety net for my home computer network I have gone through the experience of having my computer crash and lose all information. I purchased the program so the next time this happens I can be back up and running quickly. I consider it an insurance policy.

okay, so im no novice and quite familiar with a good number of backup software programs, and this is by far the best, i have used acronis personally for years, while i don't like the over simplistic ui, it does the job. i say over simplistic because many of the options and usual settings i have been using for years are misteriously either missing or hidden, and while i am sure that is to suit a wider audience for the use.
just a note for those who are concidering this purchase now that it's nearly 50% off....the normal use of the cloning depending on your settings can take what seems like over 7 hours. mine took roughly 5 hours for cloning a 128gig Samsung 840Pro. also, unless you can afford the space and know what your doing(meaning, you can afford to loose data if you mess up), don't bother with the secure zone or the startup recovery manager.
one last thing, when you do a backup, i realize not everyone has a network attached storage drive but i would not recommend using usb unless you have all of your pc settings set to full performance due to windows 8 sleep and hybrid hybernation settings. doing your backup over the network is also much faster. and depending on what settings you use, it will actually ask you to reboot and bypass the windows 8 sleep stuff, and you can start it before bed and set it to shut down the pc when the operation is finished.

Best Backup Imaging Software

I have tried and used several different backup imaging programs over the years and have settled on Acronis True Image as my first choice. Unlike some other backup programs, this software allows you to select either just partitions, or switch to full disk backup. By using full disk backup, you can create a system image of the entire HDD with all partitions. This is what I needed so that in the case of a HDD system failure, I would be able to restore the entire disk image over to a new HDD.
Acronis is fast and the bottom line is that it works. It takes a little getting used to setting it up and there is a learning curve to understanding the menus and options, but once this is done, it is simple to use and it is easy to backup or restore. I have now purchased multiple licenses of Acronis True Image and have it installed on all of my computers. I have no plans to switch to anything else.

The best Backup Program!

Been using True Image for years. It has never let me down when there was a hard drive crash either due to hardware or software. Create a complete image first of a clean running PC / Laptop to an external device. True Image 2015 has a cleaner UI, user interface than previous versions making it easy for beginners or advanced options for power users. Clones drives also should you need to install a larger hard drive.
I Highly recommend this product!

Acronis 2015 does not support VISTA !

I've been using Acronis True Image 2011 until I started having problems. I decided to upgrade to 2015 as my first step. Big mistake ! Now I get the blue screen of death when doing backups and when I chatted with Acronis support they supplied a link showing that Vista is not supported. BEWARE !! VIsta is listed on the box, but is actually not supported by Acronis 2015 !
2015 overwrote 2011 and I can't find the original install disks. So now I have nothing. One day I'll be getting a new PC, but not right now, and certainly not buying a new PC just to get Acronis to work.
So Surprised and disappointed.
