Amazing mix of eighties thrash and grunge vibes with even a small sense of Red Hot Chili Peppers.

I am in love with death metal and this band never disappoints

The most grand of all Death Angel. A band standing atop its peak.

Opinions of this album tend to be quite erratic. Some love it and some just don't get it. What Death Angel did was improve upon everything they had done before and introduce a few new things. This is more of a thinking man's thrash with really interesting riffs and ideas. "Seemingly Endless Time" starts with the sound of crashing waves, which is pretty cool, then the riffs hit you like a brick to the face! A great thrasher except with a little more melody than most thrash songs. Next is "Stop", a straight up thrash song that’s a lot of fun. Then you have the first bit of experimentation, "Veil of Deception" is an acoustic ballad with some beautiful guitar melodies and multi-vocal parts. It isn't much of a thrash song but it remains an excellent song. "The Organization" should have you headbanging in seconds! A true classic with an infectious chorus that you really can’t help but sing along to. "Discontinued" opens with a cool drum intro and mixes thrash, hardcore punk, and funk that surprisingly works very well. "A Room With a View" is another ballad and it is a beautiful song, a tad bit cheesy perhaps but the guitar solos more than make up for it. "Stagnant" has a very unique structure with more funk and even some reggae influences and is another highlight of the album. "Ex-TC" is a cool, thrashy song with some cool riffs that change around quite a bit. "Disturbing the Peace" starts with the bass then the guitar riffing. Then it goes into another great riff, and another, and another...you get the idea. Finally, you have "Falling Asleep". It opens with a music box then a weird harmonized lead that’s really cool. This song just thrashes about with great riffs, tempo changes, and great soloing. From the start of “Seemingly Endless Time” at the beginning until “Falling Asleep” fades out, "Act III" is just brilliant. Everyone can find something to their liking here, and for the price, you definitely can’t go wrong. If you like thrash or Death Angel you really have to have this album.

Released in 1990, "Act lll" is Death Angel delivering the Thrash Metal with expediency, 'Seemingly Endless Time" and "Stop" gets the Thrash ball rolling. However, this is an album from 1990, it is not to be compared to the no holds barred Thrash Metal attack we heard on Death Angel's 2008 release "The Killing Season". With that said, this is a great album, I really enjoy hearing a band of any Metal genre step outside the box once in awhile. "A Room With A View" is a song that reminds me of what Duran Duran meets Def Leppard would sound like musically. I like the song, yet it is not even light years close to being a Thrash Metal tune. It shows that Death Angel was not afraid to write a song that they wanted, I can absolutely respect that. Musical creativity can coexist with Thrash Metal, Death Angel proves it on "Act lll". Mark Osegueda is vocally spectacular on "Act lll", with the entire band displaying Metal skills that defined Death Angel then and now. I recommend "Act lll" to all Metal fans, especially new Thrash Metal fans who want to hear the very beginning of a very important Thrash band that is doing very well to this day. The liner notes are 12 pages of complete lyrics, with b&w band photos, credits and music credits.
