Great Device For Mirroring Asus Zenpad Tablet

I recently purchased an ASUS Zenpad S 8.0 tablet from Best Buy and gave it a rave review (5 stars). One of my problems with it however was the lack of a wired HDMI output to mirror the screen on a TV. I was reading through the online manual for the ASUS tablet and discovered it has the ability to connect to a TV wirelessly via Miracast with its built in "PlayTo" function. I purchased the ScreenBeam Mini 2 knowing it supports Miracast. Set-up was simple, and in a couple of minutes my ASUS was being mirrored on my Samsung smart TV! Love the fact there are no wires connected to the tablet, and that you can plug the ScreenBeam into a USB port on the TV for power....no need for a wall jack! Also, the tablet A/C port is open so that I can leave it plugged in while watching my tablet on the TV without draining its battery. Now I am happy the ASUS did not have the wired HDMI output, otherwise I would have never discovered the ScreenBeam!

I was able to setup my hdtv fairly easy, my phone(HTC1-7) was a little more tricky. On my phone the connection was found under settings, more options, then under media output. Newer phones it is found under mirroring. If there is one draw back, it would be the lack of instructions from Actiontec and no youtube video to address the install. I love it, happy streaming :)

For use while traveling this works with my laptop or phone to watch Netflix or hulu without having to bring my own wireless router like is necessary with chrome cast on networks that require you to accept terms on a captive portal.

I connected the Actiontec - ScreenBeam Mini 2 Wireless Display Receiver to my family room smart TV and reception and picture were fine, after I figured out how to get it to work (the instructions are not great). However when hooked up to my non-smart TV the unit lags, skips, pixelates. Don't know if it's because this is a non-smart TV but I am not crazy about the reception in my bedroom.

So far I had it for about 2 years worked fine on Samsung but now I got a Nokia 7.2 and it screens for only certain apps...Netflix not being one of them which really sucks. I believe it has more to do with the phone capabilities but this component will soon be obsolete if these companies don't cooperate with each other. Only Chromecast works for certain phones leaving Screenbeam mini out of there "circle". So sad the tricks and traps these companies play with consumers. They need to be more forthcoming about the specifications and not hide it somewhere in a Google website that no one knows about. Anyway if you get it to work with your phone and the apps it can be pretty awesome. Sometimes certain phones do not let the screen rest, meaning your phone screen stays playing the video while your screen mirroring( casting). That can waste your battery immediately. Also , I had bought another one for my Sis. And it came with an extended wire which which was helpful to not over heat the device. Which I eventually found out after I bought the second one which they didn't give the extra parts. Don't know why same product ..same price ..same place. Hopefully these products one day can coincide. Oh yeah, for windows without native casting ona home PC or laptop that needs USB transmitter....tried it ....not good...video keeps breaking up... not stable. Lags on video games all around.

Works Perfect my Samsung S7.Also Any S7 Up Phones

Tried Different adapters, Paid $50 plus tax at store, few bucks cheaper Online, No Best Buy Military Discount... Ohhh Well, But Works Perfect out of the Box From my Samsung S7 to mirror the screen For use on my boat, where I have No WIFI... Because Samsung wants you to mirror only with S7- S9+ phones in hopes you buy a Samsung TV. So unless You got this little guy IT Will NOT WORK EVER on any older NON-Smart HDMI TV.. This Works Wonderfully with Samsung Phones, My S7 for sure...!!! Also FIOS app now is data free, If you have cell and home FIOS, which I do, So Again, Now I can while on my boat on my HDMI equipped TV, Boat or home, RV, Plane, Hotel, Anywhere, because Again, I DON'T Have WIFI on MY Boat... Also I can access and watch my DVR, or live TV, thru the FIOS app data free on boat...!!! Great Item for Samsung Phones, because ChromeCast ONLY WORKS WITH WIFI...

This is a cool little gadget! My old man and I bought one over the weekend. He got it set up, and we could see our phone pics and videos on the TV perfectly. We've also watched some videos through the computer. It's great being able to do this! Our only complaint is that it can be a pain to connect sometimes. This was a good purchase, as we're tired of trying to see things on small screens. If you have a hard time seeing pictures and videos on tiny screens, do yourself a favor and buy this.

This is the only Wifi Direct device that doesn't require an *actual* internet connection. I tested the Roku as well, but if you shut off the internet connectivity at the router (even though it wants to use Wifi Direct), it fails to establish a connection. Only this device seems to be able to do "Wifi Direct' correctly. I would have given it 5 starts, but the device does get very hot after only 10 minutes of use, so we'll see how long it lasts.

The concept is great, and is a bit different from Chromecast in that this works with ANY app your phone can run. But the problem is that the device got very hot which I thought weird and after about 3 uses it finally just stopped working. It did work on both my Note 3 and LG G4 (miracast), but like I said, I think the heat issue caused the device to shut down and eventually just killed it.

Bought this on a random trip to Best Buy so I could hook up my laptop to my HDTV. It was quick and very easy to hook up. Laptop was projecting on my TV within a few minutes. Major problem was the lag time on the TV from the cursor while using the mouse. If you're like me, I don't want to scroll over to click something and have to wait for the cursor to catch up. So, I returned it the day after I bought it.

I don't know why other reviewers gave lukewarm reviews. This product is great and easy to use. There is some minor stuttering and frame freezing like any internet movie streaming but this product works great! Buy it, you will like it.
