The product works sporadically. I have a suface pro 3, and projecting to the wireless device connected to my tv. The screen comes in and out all the time. I dont have to use the usb transmitter because of the widi built into surface. The signal drops every so often. Ever Since the update it has been spotty most of the time. When i use my laptop which is running windows 7 premium with the usb adapter transmitter it seems to pause a lot. Sound is choppy. I use it to extend my screens on both of them and you can see the lag on the mouse to the tv is about anywhere from a micro second to about 5 seconds. Actiontec needs to do another update. My receiver is connected to my tv which is about 10 feet from my desk. So the lag and spotiness should not be affected by distance.

For WiDi, best receiver yet

This WiDi adapter worked a lot better than the Netgear Push2TV 3000. The WiDi does not drop as easily and does drop at all when playing flash content which is what got annoying with the Push2TV 3000. As far as getting a WiDi laptop, do your homework! Read up on any laptop you buy and make sure you see that it is full WiDi capable from the manufacturers website. Some newer laptops have a WiDi chipset but it isn't a WiDi compliant laptop. Make sure to test out the WiDi feature ASAP using this device as a receiver. Return the laptop if it doesn't connect after getting the error from the intel.com download of the latest WiDi driver: Your system doe not meet the minimum system requirements.
My friends laptop said it was WiDi Capable but was one driver version away from having it work so again, WiDi works flawlessly with this device as long as you are 100% certain that the unit you're trying to connect to this WiDi receiver meets all the requirements for WiDi as detailed on Intel's WiDi site.

I used this product to mount off a remote conference projector. It works good for the most part with a couple of times needing to manually reset it but not certain if it was the computer. The other issue is each computer used to interface with device needs the software loaded if not using a single computer to run the device.

Installation very easy. Very good idea if only would pair up!! Only had to span a 15ft area and couldn't keep signal up for solid pairing.

Screen from your pc/laptop or phone onto your TV

This little gadget makes it very easy to wirelessly transmit what's on my screen from my PC, laptop, tablet, or smartphone onto my TV. Most of my devices that I hook up to this are intel widi capable so be careful before you buy this to check that whatever you want to hook up to it is capable of doing it. I use a Samsung smartphone's screen mirroring, an HP laptop with 4th gen. i7 via widi, and a surface pro with a 3rd gen. i5 via widi to hook up to this. I was unable to hook up to this using a Dell touchscreen PC with a 3rd gen. i5 for some reason that I haven't figured out yet. Could be something to do with Dell's network card or my anti-virus on the Dell. Not really a big deal to me because I have plenty of other options. An adapter for non-widi capable pc/laptops is also available through actiontech.
I like this device because I can view pics from my phone on my TV, or I can do Netflix or hulu from my laptop or surface straight to the TV without using wires. It's easier for me to navigate on those sites from the laptop or tablet as opposed to using the smart TV apps or a game console's apps.
All in all I'm very pleased with this device because it does exactly what I wanted it to do. Connecting devices is easy- just make whatever device you're using search for the screenbeam and then you have to enter a code to pair it from the screenbeam device. It's really quite easy. There is a tiny bit of lag that can likely be attributed to wireless transmission of your display data, but it's really pretty minimal. Also I haven't had any issues with signal loss between my devices and the screenbeam device.

I can now project any of my laptops' audio/video to the big screen TV as an extended second monitor and keep working. Our phones can also quickly project as well. Recently hooked up a Windows phone 81 too. It's fun and very convenient. This is the most well rounded solution out there.

The Actiontec Stream Beam is fantastic! It works great, is an inexpensive way to stream Netflix and Amazon Prime to your TV whether you have cable or satellite or not.
