Brad Pitt delivers a great performance as a man dealing with the absence of his father who has disappeared on a exploration for intelligent live in the far reaches of the solar system . Beautifully filmed it deals with issues of abandonment and loss. Yet still finds ways to entertain us. Tommy Lee Jones needed more screen time as did Donald Sutherland as a security liaison who gives a final clue to Brad Pitts character about what happened during the final stages of the ill fated expedition .

A surprisingly interesting film. It's not the action film that the trailers seemed to hint at, but still a really good film. It's upscaled to 4K, but the colors and details look great and look better than on just the blu-ray.

The visuals and “realistic” space travel feel to it were outstanding. The soundtrack wasn’t bad but it was hard to get emotionally attached to anything or message in the movie. I gave it 3 stars only because of the visuals and “realistic” space travel feeling. Pitt did a good job acting but the script was just lacking something.

If you are not a fan of science fiction, you may not care for this movie. Fans of the genre however will find a lot to enjoy. The visuals are amazing and there are some exciting action sequences with the best being a shootout on the moon. The acting was strong across the board and the ending was satisfying.

    Excellent audio quality 4k movie

Ad Astra has a really nicely rendered Dolby Atmos track, a listening experience that takes the already excellent DTS-HD Master Audio 7.1 track on the 1080p Blu-ray and (literally) elevates it. From the opening hum and pulse effects that underlie some of the production mastheads, there's a clear vertical presence, something that really kind of bursts with considerable energy once Roy steps outside on the space antenna and the power surge occurs. There's consistent engagement of the Atmos channels in the many flight sequences, and this track duplicates the very powerful LFE that the DTS-HD Master Audio 7.1 track offered in terms of some of the thrusters utilized during takeoffs and landings. Max Richter's score sounds great here as well, and all dialogue is rendered without any problems. We've gotten spoiled with a lot of really fine sound mixing in big sci-fi epics, but this Atmos track is another reminder of how much fun well mixed and designed audio can add to a movie going experience.

Great movie, I just wish it came in a hardier case. This one is probably too underrated to get a nice steelbook release in the United States.

    Good movie- weak ending

I liked the plot and pace of this movie. The twists and turns were sometimes predictable, but generally entertaining. The major lack - as with many modern films - is a weak ending. It’s as if the writer gave everything to the story, then got lazy and just grabbed for some lame device to end it.

Yeah I could stream it on multiple devices, and it will play just the same. But using a real Blu-Ray player with this movie has been awesome! I can notice the sound, and the picture quality! The movie is really awesome, one of my favorites! With the Starfield game coming out, this movie really brings those Starfield vibes. I love it.

This movie should gain Brad Pitt an an Oscar nomination. He goes into space to find out what happened to his father's mission when he disappeared in space. This movie is the type of movie critics love but general audiences will probably pan because of its cerebral nature...

The story didn’t amount to much the visuals were spectacular soundtrack for those of you that have home theaters or good sound equipment was very good strong LFE effects could have been a great movie but overall lacked pizzazz.

The trailer for this film gives the impression that this is a space adventure. Yes, most of the film takes place in space, but the heart of this story is about a son who processes his past with his father. There are indeed a lot of adventurous space scenes in this film, and they are exciting, gripping, and fun. What holds it all together is that father/son relationship. It is also an excellent addition to any science fiction fan's movie collection.

Brad Pitt goes into space to find out what happened to his father's (Tommy Lee Jones) mission when he disappeared many years ago. It's a sci-fi setting, but not meant to be a hard sci-fi thriller. It's about a son reconnecting with a long lost father. I found the father/son relationship angle to be gripping. The stunning cinematography is right up there with the best of modern sci-fi. It's very realistic; reminded me of 2001: A Space Odyssey.
