Computer help difficult

We were almost scammed by a caller responding to a call or an email message (not sure which because we did both) we made to have a tuneup. The caller said they were Geek Squad and at the end wanted over $1000 in a “check” scanned to them. Not happening! I do not want over seas call centers when I call Gerk Squad! Don’t trust them any more.
