I thought the sound quality was great! I would call the sound spacious and very flat. They are sold as an upgrade or tweak in levels, to bring out the bass and highs. If you like bass you might have to apply some EQ to get more out of these, but they are capable. I was sure I had found the right headphones for my workplace. I took them to work and after a day or so realized I was constantly pressing them to my ears to hear better. I have a large head and maybe that caused the cups to come away from my ears down low. Even when holding them in place I noticed that the ambient noise level at work was too much for me. I work in a rather noisy place though with some industrial noise.

These are great headphones, they have a really neutral sound to them with a tiny bit more presence on the lower end. Took me 3 different sets to get one that works but it was well worth it. They aren't huge and are nicely sized. If you get an amp the bass really sound much better. The soundstage is great and they are very comfortable. If you want a high quality pair of cans for a nice price look no further.

I have been collecting headphones for about 10 years due to a heavy travel schedule at work. I prefer over the ear headphones for comfort and sound isolation. I've probably owned 15 different pairs of headphones in the $150-$500 range. These are so far my absolute favorite. They are supremely comfortable and have great sound quality. The bass is tight and strong and the midrange and treble are very balanced and detailed. They fit nicely over my ears and do a wonderful job at drowning away the outside noise. If you are an audiophile and need a good set of closed cans, I think you will be very satisfied with these AKG K545's!

Good quality headphones for the audiophile

For the audiophiles out there, this headphone will blow you away. I've owned a pair of Beats before and these blow it out of the water (I guess anything blows Beats out of the water, right?). The comfort and quality of these surpasses my expectation. For a 50mm close back drive, these provide a good sound quality if you get a good seal to them. That's not hard to do considering that the drivers are thinner and bigger. The first day that I got them, I was a little skeptical since I had never own a pair of AKG. In fact, after doing countless research to replace the Beats solo I had, it was a toss up between two AKG models; the K545 or the K845bt. I'm glad I went with these. Please note that I use these for sitting in my office to working out at the gym, to running and walking. Right out of the box, they fit really snug on your head. The aluminum brushing is beatiful and they look like they can withstand a beating. There are no rattling when shake them. Overall, they are very pleasing to the eyes. I've gotten a lot of complements on them. Now to the sound. The first time slipping them on, I notice that the highs and the mids. The sound was amazing but there seems to be a lack of lows. After breaking them in for a day, the lows came on and boy does it sound great. The bass isn't overwhelming like Beats but it's there to enhance the music. I play a lot of dance/hip hop/country/pop. The only issue that i had was in order to get the quality sound from these AKG, you need a proper seal. The other thing too is the cord might be a little short for most audiophile. I believe the cord is about 3 - 4 feet long. Perfect for me because I use these on the go with the occasion of plugging it into my laptop. Overall, I'm glad I got these. I would recommend these to my friends. In fact, one of my friend tried them on and she was blown away by the sound quality.

    Not-So-Hot Headphones

Bought these headphones Saturday (6/21/14). Opened the box, and immediately realized that the removable ear cup was not sown right. One wall of the ear cup was sown to short, resulting in the ear cup falling off. I eventually got the cup to stay on for a very short period and began to listen to the headphones. These headphones are very flat and my phone (HTC M8) did not come with a customizable equalizer. As a result of the shotty quality control and the dissatisfactory sound quality I took the headphones back and bought a pair of the Beats Pro in Infinite Black. On 1970s and 1980s Rock and Pop, as well as Classical and Country, the Beats absolutely destroy the AKGs. No Camparison.
