Robbin Williams set a bar - one that anyone over the age of 4 probably knows, for how the Genie is. The Broadway shows and adapted in-park show that use to play at California Adventure had to deal with that - how to be a good actor, respect Robbin, but still be the Genie here and now. Will Smith did it - and sure, they made him blue... um, that is the color of the Genie. Good fun, new songs, new elements. All in all a fun new classic that stands on its own as much as it recreates the past.

I’m not a critic nor will I act like one. This movie was pretty awesome. Bringing it to life in live action with a slightly more modern take. There is a couple of new songs that aren’t in the animated version but it still remains faithful to it. I thoroughly enjoyed this movie. My family likes it as well, mainly my wife as the original Aladdin is her favorite movie. Will Smith makes an excellent Genie and while he isn’t trying to remake Robin Williams’ version he’s excellent at his own.

Okay, I was a little standoffish before buying the movie because of the reviews. Glad I bought it and made my own judgment to this. So this 2019 Aladdin is modern, great singing, and loads of laughter. Will Smith did a great job with the shoes he had to fill from Robin Williams, and he did great. The story line was awesome and different, it didn't fully follow the 1992 movie, but you would get understand by watching it. The cast was great and funny as well. It was a great buy at Best Buy.

This live action remake was outstanding. Will Smith made a convincing 6 foot tall lovable smurf as the Jennie... The two leads Aladdin and Jasmine played well off of each other - true chemistry... The parade scene was well done and extremely vibrant /colorful and fast paced.. Aladdin's dance scene to impress the princess... The films CGI was lavish - Jasmine's guardian tiger was impressive - I want one... The flying carpet scene, Jasmine / Aladdin singing made you fall in love with their characters added alot to the texture of the story... Overall Disney made a live action classic.

I believe Disney kept the magic alive in this remake/ live version of Aladdin. Everyone always expects the SAME EXACT THING, no one is ok and willing to accept change these days. I think the cast nailed their performances and Will Smith's take on genie was perfect in his own way. As Will stated, he did not want to try and recreate Robin's version, "Out of true respect Robin's genie was a masterpiece and I'm going to do my own thing on this one". 8/10

A lot of people dismissed this movie and didn't have high hopes for it, unfortunately myself included, but after watching it in theaters I was surprised on how good of a job they did. The story states relatively the same of coarse with small changes here and there but none of the changes seem like they shouldn't be there and that is a huge plus. Give it a shot and hopefully you'll enjoy it as much as I did, and I'm an old Disney animated movie purest

After taking the family to see it in the theater convienced me to pre-order it from Best Buy. Most movies with combinations of animation and live character mix, in my opinion are poorly produced. In my opinion this is the exception; expertly and seamlessly done. It is well thought through, smooth animations cut ins and overall a great family movie. The digital copy offers viewing it from your smart phone or tablet – a big plus for road trips.

Will Smith does a great job playing the Genie! How does this film compare to the animated film? It does it extremely well. Like the original Lion King film, the Aladdin film was traditional animation with digital enhancements. This time around the film is live-action with some digital characters, and some fine CGI EFX. The supporting cast is top-shelf, and all of the original tunes are back the some new ones. This is a film that you'll enjoy!

I was not disappointed at all with this remake of the classic movie! Will Smith acknowledged that he isn't Robin Williams... and instead of trying to copy him, he put his own unique take on the Genie. Different, but just as entertaining! I thought all the actors were fantastic in their roles, and the story had just the right amount of new material mixed with homage to the older film. This is currently my granddaughters' favorite movie.

After watching the cartoon with Robin Williams voicing the genie I did not think that there would be anyone who could do a good job. However, and keep in mind we are not comparing apples to apples, Will Smith does a great job! I was also very pleased to see that Disney attempted to recreate some of the scenes (when Aladdin meets the Genie). Finally, the ending with the singing and the dance choreography, it did not disappoint.

I like Will Smith. I enjoy his movies. Never in a million years would I have picked him to be the genie - - mostly because I was spoiled by Robin Williams frenetic tour-de-force performance. It was as if Disney DARED me to like Will Smith's turn as the genie in the lamp. Not a great vocalist - just passable, really - not a huge stage presence, but it works. Mostly. Visually, it's stunning. The story is familiar, and satisfying. And the guy who plays Jafar? Awful. The obvious "upsell" of Jasmine's 'girl power' is obvious, oversold, and a tad tired, really. But kids don't care. Enjoy it, tap your toes to the music, and be grateful the whole thing is fun to watch.

To me, it is rare that any type of remake of a movie, whether cartoon characters or not, is better than the original. For me, that is exactly what happened. The movie was outstanding and still in line with the original storyline. Plus, I had no problem watching it was my granddaughter (no sudden curse words, etc.) Will Smith and the cast were all excellent along with the music. I am sure you will enjoy this movie.

For my family and I agree that this movie far exceeded our highest expectations. Disney has definitely done it again! We were anxious to add this video to our home movie collection. The audio and video quality are greatly enhanced when viewed on a Blu-ray disc. I have no reservations in recommending this movie for every parent who desires to make high quality, family-oriented entertainment available in their homes.

Aladdin recreates the spirit and magic of the original film in a whole new way. The bonus features reveal an unheard Alan Menken song, deleted scenes, and enough behind-the-scenes footage to give you an idea of how the film was made despite lacking a true “Making-of” feature. While it doesn’t surpass the original animated classic, it does a worthy job of paying homage while freshening it up for a modern audience.

Can remember 65 years ago watching my first Aladdin movie at the theater. As a youngster I felt like it could never get any better than that. Well fast forward 60+ years and Will Smith just proved me wrong. I am now convinced there really is an Aladdin and the magic lamp is real. This is a great movie that (thanks to Best Buy), the whole family can enjoy right in your living room.This is a Don't Miss Movie.

Will Smith really needed this movie and he took no prisoners. Not taking away anything from the rest of the cast, who were all fully invested in their roles—but it was Will Smith to make or break this movie. He didn’t play Robin Williams yet there was a reverence for Williams in Smith’s performance. Jasmine gets her own spotlight song near the end of the film and my daughters cannot stop singing it.

The 4K version has an awesome image and sound. I am not a big fan of all the new live action Disney re-makes, but I liked this movie. It was funny and the acting and action was good. It was a little scary for my 4 year old, but most of the movie was age appropriate. I have not tested if there is a sound difference with the streaming version vs the disk. When I do I will write another review.

I am a true fan to the original Aladdin cartoon version... and I, too, was skeptical of the newer version. Who could replace Robin Williams?!? NO ONE! Will Smith brought his own personality to the plot and he did NOT disappoint!!! The original is my favorite movie ever- but this one is a true re-creation of imagination and brings in the originality of music and independence for young girls!

The critics gave this version of Aladdin terrible reviews, but they were wrong. Maybe they were expecting the Avengers, and not a child's story? Will Smith is a great Genie, was honored to play the part Robin William's did, and does it exceptionally well. Don't let the reviews stop you from enjoying this movie!

Consider this movie as a stand alone movie and don’t compare it to the animated version. Enjoy the special effects and visual appeal of it. No one can compete with the comic genius of Robin Williams as the genie, but consider Will Smith’s rendition without comparison and you can enjoy the movie on its own merits. It is a beautiful movie visually with solid performances by the live actors.
