Great laptop! In run all my games on the highest settings possible and I havent had any problems. Easy to upgrade parts, just take the bottom lid off and you have access to the Ram and the SSD (which you have ann extra slot for) I recommend getting a good bag for it since gaming laptops are usually heavier than a cheap notebook laptop. ( I ordered the alienware vindicator backpack, but most 17 inch bags should work)

    Good Laptop for music production

I was looking for a non-mac PC for music production without sacrificing needed windows only programs. My 2014 single core i7 worked OK but couldn’t handle editing samples and this PC is a beast. The Quad core handles editing perfectly with just 10% of the CPU usage while several other programs running in the background i.e spyware, outlook, etc., this blows a MAC out of the water. If you going to do very heavy production, upgrade to 16-32 GB RAM and it will last for many years to come.

This is a great gaming computer. My son keeps telling me how awesome I am for getting it for him. He says the large screen is awesome and he is never "lagging". Very happy kid.

We purchased four Dell computers that were recommended for our company and ended up turning all of the in for Alienware's. We are running multiple applications at the same time and stringing up to 4 27" high resolution screens running AutoDesk Civil3D, TBC, Office, Google Earth Pro and Adobe Pro, often all at the same time. This computer ilhas my vote as being the best for AE applications.

I was concerned at first with only 8 Gigs of RAM memory with all the newer models having 16, but I am still able to do everything I need with no signs on this laptop slowing down. For the sale price it is money well spent. My first Alienware laptop and I could not be more satisfied, I would buy again.

This is a conversation piece and it is so cool. The 4K is clear and the speed is great for gamers. All the stats are perfect for the usage intended on this laptop: Alienware - 17.3 4k Ultra Hd Laptop - Intel Core I7 - 8gb Memory - 1tb Hard Drive + 128gb Solid State Drive - Epic Silver

For hardcore gamers, it lacks a bit of power (only 8gb of RAM included); however casual gamers will enjoy the performance this laptop provides. The laptop glows to allow for dark room gameplay and has the keyboard, mousepad, and an accent glow in various places.

This is a very, very fast computer, and the graphics are simply to die for. I especially liked that it had a separate graphics memory. And, as a touch-typist who usually hates laptop keyboards, I have to say that this is the absolute best laptop keyboard I've ever used.

I originally wanted a more expensive Alienware with a better graphics card but since none were in stock and I wasn't trying to wait two-three weeks for one I settled for this. It's still a fantastic laptop and runs everything I need to smoothly.

After reading many reviews and seeing many YouTube videos I did not hesitate buying this laptop. Let's start with oddities. This laptop has a Hard Drive as a primary or so it seems since it takes almost three minutes from cold start to the log in screen. Once there everything was slow including the native 64 bit system apps like Store, News, Sports etc. Edge was unusable but I did not want to install any new programs before I tested the factory setup. I did install some utilities for testing, Firefox and AJA system test lite to run the disk check. SSD came with barely 100MB/sec write. OK onto the device manager to lookup the SSD make. It is a piece of trash Toshiba that came dead last in SSD benchmarks . Store demos of the same laptop had a Samsung SSD which is to say that they are using whatever is at hand at the time of assembly. Apple is doing the same on their MacBook Pros but it's harder to detect since they are using code names and S usually depicts a Samsung drive. Now the Battery. 99% charge indicates 3:19 hours with battery saver ON and Brightness at ZERO. Between 10:23pm and 11:13pm battery went from 64% to 18% with a few minutes to spare. All this while watching a youtube videos about the computer itself. Then final blow, the BSOD,then Shutdown and no power ON. Bottom of the computer was on fire. Had to cool it down first in order to power it back on. Once ON , loop of broken start screen images to BSOD and like that to infinity. Safe Mode - Factory Restore - back to Best Buy. The End. If Best Buy lets me I'll update this review by adding the photos documenting the whole event. I'm not a gamer. I got this laptop as a work station for audio and video post, along with the Aurora R5, That one is going back as well but that is a separate review. Overheating, loud PSU fans , all this is documented but Dell don't care. Let's hope Kaby Lake series will change all that. Best Buy does not deserve unhappy clients to no fault of their own. Since fall of 2015 I shop at brick and mortar exclusively to keep them alive. You should too.
