As my first actual gaming computer, I have to say I am absolutely loving it. It runs all of my games (except one or two) at the highest graphics settings with a constant >60 fps. The lighting is nice and the fact you can program up to 27 macros on the keyboard is amazing. This does have a few issues, though. The biggest issue is the heat that this laptop can put out. When playing a game like Assassins Creed: Unity on max graphics the GPU would creep up to around 90 degrees. Thankfully, this is an easy fix. Just get a cooling tray big enough, ANY cooling tray big enough, and the heat will no longer be a problem. Without even turning the fan for my cooling tray on the GPU temperature never went above 75 just from being able to get more airflow from the bottom of the laptop (Your results WILL vary). The other issue is occasionally when cold booting the laptop the display won't turn on even though the laptop itself is on, making you have to hard boot it off and then back on to where it boots normally. Aside from those two issues, I would 100% recommend this computer to anyone in the market for a gaming laptop.

It’s a bit expensive and as heavy as an elephant but it’s an amazing laptop. My only regret is that now my son plays 6 hours a day instead of 4. The screen is big enough so he doesn’t need anything bigger and it is indeed a gaming machine. It would be nice to get a few more USB ports and the vent could be less noisy

Every game that I played on the 1070 ran smooth!! The fan is not as loud as people are making it out to be. I went ahead and downgraded do the 15.3 inch because I travel via Plane a lot ! But if you are not always on the go and want something to play while at home. I highly recommend the 17inch

Love this laptop a lot. Can barely notice a difference from a desktop honestly. Only the more hardcore gamers will really see the difference. And honestly the price is better than most laptops of this caliber with Asus and Acer ones actually having some lower specs and costing quite a bit more.

I use this machine for fun and business. Runs my games like a champ. Set up was simple. My business has a very complex and powerful program that this machine really plows through! I used Geek Squad for some technical advice and it has all been roses! High recommend.

Love, love it. Lots of fun to work or play. Fast and bright. Large 17 screen. Only back draw not really a lap computer. HEAVY. and warm. So I use a pillow, then tray for 1 inch airflow, and THEN computer on top.

What did I expect from Alienware? The best. I got it. This thing is a monster. Yes its heavy....I wanted a beast, not a slim jim coffee shop laptop. Multiple games and apps and 25 tabs open all at once and runs like butter. Get it. Its worth it!

Purchased this laptop (17" with I7 chip and a 1070 graphics card) so I could play Planet Coaster (great game) and for video and image editing. So far I'm very happy with my purchase. Only real downside with this laptop is the limited number of USB plugs. I would highly recommend purchasing a USB port with this laptop. This machine is not a laptop for everyday carry but more of if necessary can be mobile due to the weight and size. The plugs for Ethernet, audio and power can be somewhat sensitive (tight) on first use so be cautious connecting and disconnecting. I actually thought it was a bad unit based on a power config error I received but I actually had failed to fully plug the power cable into the back of laptop. If your looking for a powerful laptop to play planet coaster or do some great videos and photos this thing is perfect. Worth the price I paid.

Absolute beast of a laptop. It's BIG and powerful. I'm not a true gamer and I bought this laptop to run multiple screens in my office, and to have full capabilities when I'm traveling on business trips to do presentations. There's nothing this thing can't handle. I'm running large presentations with videos on one screen and working on others. Currently running laptop screen plus two monitors and a TV in my office with ease. Can't say enough. Bought a top of the line Surface Pro with all the bells and whistles after my last Alienware finally died (6 years) and it was like going back to the Atari after playing my son's XBox One. You won't be disappointed.

I love this beast, it’s very heavy but well constructed. I’m new to gaming laptops and I have only one tiny complaint, not enough USB ports. That is not a deal breaker in any sense. Boots up in under 10 seconds and you are ready to game.

I’ve wanted a laptop for the longest time and this one is great. I am an Apple person and have to get used to it but so far it’s been great. The graphics are wonderful. The games I play look and work great. I’m an Alienware Fan!

Heavy duty outer shell, cool light effects, decent graphics & proessor. Very happy with everything except the quick battery life..usually only lasts two hours before dying so not practical for long play or extended programming. Not sure if mine is defective or if thats typical for the unit.

Love just about everything with this laptop. Games are amazing and I can 3d model pretty seemlesly. It is heavy, but I wanted the bigger screen. The battery is why I didn't give it five stars. It only lasts about 3 to 4 hours unplugged if you are watching video. Games are a little less.

This clearance laptop is several pounds heavier than its replacement and has the last-gen 1070 video card versus the 2070. However, this machine is more than adequate for intensive graphics applications and gaming. I am using it as a desktop replacement in a corner of a room with a small desk. It's perfect for that purpose. Those who want to lug their gaming laptop between far locations would probably want to look elsewhere. This model is also prone to a few hardware issues, like inadequate thermal paste between the CPU and motherboard and flaky touch pads. If yours doesn't go bust within the first few weeks of intense use, you're probably good to go, though. I got mine as an open-box (had a bad touch pad which had to be replaced) and the store was willing to take the current new clearance price into consideration and further adjusted their open-box price to make a purchase worthwhile. VR, 3D game development, and gaming ready out of the box.

This is my first gaming laptop with a SSD, and it is super quiet, very fast, and the screen is awesome. and it has a nice weight to it, not too heavy, but not flimsy.

I returned this laptop and get the Asus ROG instead. Not because this one is bad. Actually it is very solid built. I thought this new model was more portable since it was thinner. I got it wrong, still a desktop replacement.

Performance is up to the mark, No heating issues yet, Lights operation is very inconsistent. So overall for performance and brand value it is a good product. But for lighting effects and portability do not buy this.. as with the amount of weight it has it is almost a desktop

My first ever alienware so far has been a good experience. I've owned it for over a year now, and have only ran into a few issues. First issue, the micro keys on the left seem to have burnt out two colors on the wheel so unfortunately its hard to know what set i am on seeing as I'm stuck with yellow and green. Second issue is that obviously 16gb filled up pretty fast but it was extremely easy to open the back to get the the SSD slots. But when i did open it, i am very unhappy with who ever decided to put a stripped nail into one of my ssd slots. Like this nail looked like someone let a bear chew on it. Unfortunately now the 2nd slot is going to have to be held down with tape, which i mean isn't the end of the world, you would expect DELL to take pride in anything they do... but then again it is also DELL we are talking about.

First off, let me say that this laptop is really heavy. But having said that, it truly is a POWERHOUSE! It is amazing and we love it. There are lighter "gaming" laptops, but this one has the power we need.

If you don’t mind the heft, this is arguably the best built system you can get. Performance is incredible and it is built like a tank. No throttling issues what so ever. Would highly recommend.
