Customers enjoy the high performance and impressive graphics capabilities of this 17.3" gaming laptop, praising its fast boot times and solid build quality. However, some customers note that the laptop's weight and heat generation are significant drawbacks, along with less-than-stellar battery life and noticeable fan noise during intensive use. The large screen size is a plus for many, but the bulkiness impacts portability.

Great gaming laptop, runs every game on high settings. The 1070 gpu does run up to 70c. The price of the GTX line is coming down as the RTX line is coming out. Best Buy reluctantly price matched Dell.

The battery life is good for a gamer laptop like 4.5 hours in basic things like internet, office and for gaming 1-1.5 hours depending the game, of course i can play many kind of games like Doom 2016 also Resident Evil 7 in hight settings like a charm.

I've had my Alienware 17" laptop now for several weeks, and it's a beast. I was not sure when opened it if I had made the right choice, it was so big, and heavy. But I've grown accustom to it's size, and love it. Glad I pulled the trigger on this beast.

I am a gamer and have made several desktop game computers;. Needed a laptop to be able to sit with my wife, she has dementia and needs me to be close by. this computer competes with my desktops and is excellent with my current games that I have on GOG

This was a great laptop, I needed a replacement as my own laptop was outdated and I had to restore it three times. This new laptop is more up to date and powerful for running programs and games.

I wanted a new gaming machine so I could play games that I owned but had no PC capable of running.
After doing some researching online, I decided that the Alienware 17 would give me what I wanted, and so far it hands every game I've tried on it.

Got a great deal, only issue was Windows 10 and it's updates. Got the blue window of death on two of these. Contacted Alienware/dell support they got it back up and running but it had made it's own bloat wear. I had to figure it out, Now it's lean and fast.Since it takes a few days to load it up with my business and= video production software it was an issue for me.only one more issue support cannot fix, on my lock screen I put in a slide show with a bunch of different alien pics. Stupid windows makes a collage out of them most of the time. Microsoft Support gave up on my issue and have ghosted me. No overheat issues. Does everything I could ask business, video/audio production and gaming. I know a pod cast company who use it for recording and editing production and live production. I'll be back after this one goes.

I love the gaming laptops, but there’s gaming and then there’s GAMING. This is the latter of them. Great price for a laptop that plays anything anytime. I love the possibility to go anywhere too. I will buy the next gen as well in a couple years.

I LOVE my computer. It is perfect for a gamer who doesn't have to have something like the nVidia 2080 or an i9 (i.e. a serious or professional gamer). It works great for Witcher, Assassin's Creed, and even Zoo Tycoon for my daughter!

Big Laptop

Lets start with I'm not a computer guy. The reasons I bought this laptop will make some people cringe. My 11 yr old MacBook Pro took a dump and I wasn't spending $3000 to replace it, it was a gift. Wanted big, this thing is big. Wanted a backlit keyboard but not white. This is backlit with infinite color possibilities. Wanted heavy after watching my friend backhand his new 4lb HP off of the counter snapping the screen off the body. I'm having a hard time making the transition from Apple to Windows but that has nothing to do with the computer. I do like having people that know computers say "wow nice laptop" and ask if they can check it out!

So killer specs, and not problem with heating on this Computer. Able to run all games, do any of my 3-D Cad and have plenty battery life for the power that it contains. My only draw back about it is when it last updated, between the speakers, lose of control sometimes on a my alien command center, and the fact that i cannot switch to integrated graphics to get more batter life is annoying. I know that his web Paige does not say it but this is a g-sync pannel. For the money i dont understand why i am having issues with the speakers they have a sequel or chirp noise to them, and when i updated my laptop yesterday i lost control of the EQ settings in my Alien Command center which is annoying especially for the price. So theirs a lot of take it or leave and and im still on the fence about this computer

Mostly play Destiny 2 and Division 2 with it. Performance is great with both games. Cooling is fine and noise level is low even when on performance mode gaming. The laptop does not throttle performance is consistent.

This is a supreme laptop. If they truly resolved overheat issues with this release then double-down on the table. Current old laptop is at 9yrs and still running well, I'd expect this AW togo that at min...see you in 9yrs.

Only gripe is the size, but the specs run great and it doesn't get so hot that I can barely touch it like some laptops when running games. Built in Alienware utilities are decent for overclocking, managing fans and sound.
