Must upgrade cooling!!

I have to say the reviews are right.
I bought this system only because there was no other option (chip shortage!!).
I am fairly good with technology so I was okay with upgrading the cooling myself.
Had to switched out the following in the system:
1. liquid cool the CPU
2. Used the top fan as a second intake fan.
3. Upgraded the power supply
4. upgraded the RAM to 32GB 4 channel.
Hopefully I can sell all the parts left over.
An air cooled version of this configuration should not be sold.
Out of the box experience was not good either. I was greeted to a blank screen on first boot. So I took out the ram and put it back in again and that somehow that made it to boot up.
Here are a couple of resources to upgrading the cooling

Good computer but barely runs 60 FPS on WarZone on the lowest setting on had x1 16 GB of ram. Thinking of buying more ram to upgrade it but not sure if that would help and the you can’t even download games to SSD drive cause of how low storage it is. Gonna give Alienware support a call and see why this is if not I’m going to get a refund and buy a new one.

After buying this due to wanting to upgrade my GPU and just wanting to get something nice I landed on this. I took the reviews with a grain of salt like I would anything but boy did I mess up.
The first day I had this it ran alright not to many issues but did have some trouble with some games (Outirders, Hood, and others). With this I wasn't expecting much maybe the drivers weren't updated or something. Anyways I updated the drives and this resolved the issue.... or so I thought.
Now day three sounds like some of the fans in the case aren't wanting to run as my games keep crashing and there is a buzzing sound coming from inside. I have to till the machine a little bit on the side to get it to up properly. I don't know what to do with it now other then to take it back. I mean my other desktop ran better than this hunk of junk now.
Buyer beware don't waste your time or money on this even if it's just for parts in the market we are in just build your own.

Only thing worthwhile is the GPU and CPU. System has poor cooling in terms of having one input fan and one output fan. The CPU fan is terrible. The ram is only single channel making the motherboard obsolete. Sad because this has potential to be a good rig but Dell insists on building computer cases with more flare than airflow. Do not buy unless you are just trying to get a 3000 series card.

Unacceptable Thermal Performance

The cpu thermal performance is atrocious. The cpu reaches and stays between 90-100 degrees celsius during normal, short gaming sessions. It sounds like a leaf blower sitting on my desk. The pictures on Best Buy's website show this pc as having liquid cooling on the cpu, but in fact it has an anemic air cooler. I'm going to return this pc promptly, and I suggest avoiding this if you care about thermal performance and the longevity of your expensive electronics.

Excellent system, by far the nicest computer I have owned before. Could likely save some $$$ by going with a regular prebuilt, but the aesthetics of an Alienware are hard to beat for sure! Will likely buy an extra 16gb stick of RAM for about $90 as well, as it struggles just a little bit with frames when I have my widescreen curved monitor (2nd monitor) turned on, but does what I need it to gaming and work wise.

Thought I got lucky when I found one of these in stock at my local Best Buy...Got it set up and it was feel super fast and snappy until I loaded up my games.
Every single game was below 40 fps. Valorant, Warzone, Valheim, etc. Troubleshooted for 10 hours trying to change settings, adjusting bios, reinstalling drivers with no luck. I was only using a 1080p monitor as well.
Also only a single stick of 16 gb ram instead of 2 x 8 gb sticks for a $2,000 PC??? Terrible cooling and thermal design as well.
I never leave reviews but something at this price that has this many problems deserved one. Save your time and money and DO NOT buy this PC

So far this pc runs everything at max out settings. I have it paired with a lg ultra gear and a lot of titles I play can run no problem. It’s surprisingly a little quiet under load. The only issue I have is I’ve opened it up and everything looks so crammed and.. the editions Bestbuy buy has do not have a liquid cooler installed. I need to install one just to feel safe since once you open it. You’ll see what I mean, I believe the h60 from Corsair will fit nicely.

Averaging 40-70 fps on BF5... (ultra settings, 1440p). Should be running near 200. Spent 40 minutes with Alienware support staff and they couldn't figure it out. We ran tests, however they agreed it was severely handicapped. Probably returning. Pretty unreal that most of the other reviews are negative when you spend $2k on a machine.

If you are looking for a gaming ready PC then this is one of the best options you have for the price. It come with a RTX 3070 which is very, very hard to get at retail price. Yeah thermals may be an issue this is still a better cost than to over pay to build your own. You can always use scavenge the part you need and build your own for much cheaper

The only problem I have with this build is the 256 GB SSD. At the end of the day people look to Alienware desktops for gaming. After you install 1-2 games the hard drive is full. With 1TB NVME hard drives costing $99 today they this $2,000 should have definitely come with one.

Prepare to invest into an alternate cooling system - the processor and SSD run HOT on even moderate load.
Had a number of issues with the video driver which was more or less resolved with 2 system recoveries.
Since these changes, the system has been performing flawlessly. A bit pricey but I was happy to get my hands on a 3070.
