I not the big gamer but playing Madden NFL the players moves were so fluent. I believe it's faster than my Son's gaming system. I edited a 20 meg video on the system and was very surprised on the render times. So if you want a system the can edit video and gaming this is it.

Love it! Works wonderfully. Plenty of power for running just about anything. I would recommend a second drive as 512 GB is easy to exhaust with games. Battery life is ok. It will drain quickly with performance set to high, but you can tweak the settings to get more life if needed for less intensive applications. In general, keep it plugged in for best performance. The display is AWESOME!!

I wanted to wait a while before reviewing this to make sure there weren’t any problems with the laptop. I ran into a few issues during initial setup that were pretty frustrating at first and I was almost ready to return it. Stuff not installing correctly, downloads getting “stuck”. YouTube’d some videos and found the issues I was having were pretty common to the unit and fixes were extremely easy. After initial set up the only other thing I noticed was this thing ran pretty hot out of the box. Downloaded some third party software and played with some settings and that hasn’t been an issue after the first day. Now onto the good stuff. This laptop is absolutely amazing when it comes to gaming. It can run anything you throw at it without a hitch. I have downloaded 20 games or so, everything from World of Warcraft to Forza Horizon 4 to Doom Eternal. This laptop blazes through them all on max settings. None of the games I’ve played have dropped below 100fps. Only game that I’ve played that crashed from time to time is Wreckfest but again mess with some in game settings and it doesn’t happen often. I’m sure there are cheaper alternatives that are just as good if not better but I am extremely happy with this purchase and recommend it to anyone looking for a great gaming laptop. When I am ready to get a desktop the first place I will look will be Alienware, they’ve won over a console gamer that’s for sure.

Amazing computer if you're a gamer however, not really worth the price. You could build a computer with better specs for cheaper. I needed anew computer so I bought this one. However, not sure I'd buy it again. Fan is super loud.

Very fast and strong computer! Does get a little hot after some use.

So far I’ve really enjoyed this laptop. Great gaming performance and runs very smoothly. The screens picture isn’t the prettiest in the world, battery is bad (as expected for this), and the CPU gets very very hot.

Great all around. Runs anything ive thrown at it in pretty much max settings, even with a 1440p monitor. Only complaint is the cpu gets very hot with the stock configuration and no way to turn down the ghz without external software. Fixed easily with a multitude of programs like throttlestop though. Alienware software is good enough, fan control profiles are nice for sure. Ive never seen the gpu get anywhere near too hot or over worked, cpu is definitely the bottleneck but its not a deal breaker. I beleive the newer models have fixed some of these issues but this is still a great laptop for the price if you dont mind tweaking a little. Battery life could definitely be better but thats to be expected on anything with this much powerful hardware. I got the 300hz screen on the laptop and its great!

Awesome as a gaming computer. This thing does what it was intended to do very well. Screen looks great and everything I've played is super smooth. The per key RGB is nice. The keyboard feels good but a little small to my fat fingers. My only complaint is the battery life. Even just watching videos or web browsing drains battery fast. It could just be me, I haven't dived into the settings much. There could be some battery optimization that I don't know of. This thing is thin but feels solid.

Performance is great. Screen is bright and very responsive 3 things that are gonna make me return this (I already ordered the MSI GS66). 1. squeaky bottom portion of the trackpad which is super annoying. It squeaks just scrolling. 2. Not sure about the other reviews but the battery life is atrocious no matter what I try. Tried battery saver mode and a ton of things turned off with minimal apps installed and I'm getting about an hour...1.5hrs tops. that's without any gaming at all and the alienware control center set to balanced power and balanced thermals. 3. For whatever reason, the chassis doesn't feel sturdy at all and the dark side of the moon finish is nice to look at but doesn't seem like it's able to resist a lot of things. Loved the laptop at first but those 3 things just aren't worth sacrificing when your spending $2k+ for a laptop.

It’s nice built laptop. Fantastic performance. But! Runs hot and loud even even when just watching YouTube.

Great Build Quality. Alienware does run hot though be aware. Average temps for heavy gaming reach around 100 C. I highly recommend using the CPU Tcc Offset Slider. This allows users to customize their own CPU thermal event (Tcc) triggering point setting. I have it offset so that it will never exceed 90 C. Maybe loose a few frames but nothing drastic. If you can find this for a deal, then this laptop is great and performs well.

I purchased this platoon for three reasons. School-computer is able to run programs for school effortlessly. Gaming-computer is able to play games at high settings and looks spectacular. With some tuning of graphics settings I get about 140fps in warzone and have almost max settings in resident evil village. Bitcoin mining-easy thermal controls make it so I can mine Bitcoin when not using the computer for other reasons. I am averaging about $8 profit per day. Overall I am very pleased with this computer.

Looking over the exterior of the Alienware m15 R4, the ‘Dark Side of the Moon’ color option is nothing short of striking. Construction consists of a metal body with plastic trim pieces. On the sides, you’ll find 3 SS USB-A ports, an ethernet port, a 3.5mm headphone jack and a micro-SD card reader. Located on the back are the power adapter port, a single USB-C Thunderbolt port, an HDMI port, a mini DisplayPort and the Alienware Graphics Amplifier connector. Overall, the size (0.78” thick) and weight (5.5lbs) are comparable to similar gaming laptops. Opening the lid presents you with a matte screen surrounded by a minimal plastic bezel. The lid itself has an appropriate amount of resistance and no slop in its movement. The chiclet-style keyboard, which lacks a number pad and programmable macro keys, has a good feel. Long keys such as the Space bar are solid and don’t flex and keys rebound quickly. On initial startup, you are presented with a typical Windows 10 experience. Setup was fast and required minimal updates. There is minimal bloat included, with most of the extra software being Alienware components to help configuration of things such as the RGB keyboard. Once set up, you’re ready to play and play this thing does. I tested a slew of games and the M15 R4 with the RTX3070 almost always laughed off the highest settings with ease. - Rocket League ran at a solid 250fps no matter the map selected. - Forza Horizon 4 at max settings produced 120fps. - Roblox with a frame-rate unlocker and highest settings resulted in 180fps. - Minecraft RTX with the highest settings in a jungle biome gave 80fps. Less demanding biomes with standard settings ran around 110fps. But let's be honest; FPS is only part of the story. The 15.6” 1080p screen has great brightness, rich colors, good contrast and broad viewing angles. Combined with the high 300Hz refresh rate, animations are smooth and beautiful. The keyboard and touchpad are very responsive and the onboard speakers are surprisingly rich sounding. They’re not going to thump, mind you, but they have good range and clarity. Through all the game testing, the fan will ramp up and get quite loud. That said, it's not annoying, just noticeable. CPU temp tended to run between 70°C-90°C. Longer play in Minecraft RTX with high settings had it peak closer to 100°C. All of this heat does transmit to the chassis to the point the laptop cannot be kept on your lap. But with the power contained in this thing, none of this is really surprising. Beyond gaming, the laptop is a workhorse. A standard Blender benchmark took a paltry 1 minute to complete. For reference sake, an M17 R2 with a RTX 2070 completed the task in 3 minutes, which is in and of itself admirable. Also, video editing using Adobe Premiere Elements is equally impressive: Complex renders of slow-motion, stabilization, and transitions are completed in real time. For all this good news, there are a few critiques. Battery life is not good. Non-gaming use (internet browsing, streaming music) yielded only about 90 minutes of run time; you’d have a seriously difficult time finishing a movie away from a wall outlet. Gaming will easily halve that number. Charge times are surprisingly slow despite the inclusion of a hefty 240w charging brick. The inclusion of a microSD reader rather than a full size SD reader is not helpful: You can always adapt a microSD card to a full SD slot, but not the other way. Finally, and this may be more personal preference, but the placement of the single USB-C on the back is less than ideal. As far as maintenance goes, the rear panel is easily removed and most of the Phillips head screws are captured, which is nice. Once inside you'll find the drives, battery, and fans are easily serviceable. There are technically a total of three M.2 slots and I've already easily added a second M.2 drive to mine. Slot #3 may not actually be usable given it's placement and lack of an anchor screw point; this would take more research. RAM is not serviceable. All things considered, the Alienware M15 R4 is an impressive machine with just a few caveats to be aware of. If gaming or designing in 3D or video production is your thing, you cannot go wrong with this beast. Just stay within reach of a wall outlet.

Works really well. Better graphics than my desktop.

Great laptop! The system is powerful and makes life easy. Whether is pairing any and i mean any bluetooth device for the comfort of gaming; to the simplest thing of being an ordinary laptop. Only downfall is the battery life really sucks lol doesnt last depending on how much power your making this bad boy use. Also the camera isnt 1080p but these little flaws are expected for a gaming laptop. Overall this is a great investment.

Fantastic build quality, decent noise reduction and performance profiles and up-to-date components make for a solid high-end laptop experience, especially with the current market and prices. I never thought I'd say an Alienware has some moderate value, but that's the state of things right now. If you can't get a Ryzen-based solution, or you want Intel, then this is a solid option.

This is an excellent laptop for gaming. The 1080p 300hz refresh rate display is incredible and improves not only your gaming experience, but your overall experience. Even just browsing the web now is as smooth as butter. The 3070 GPU is a solid performer, and while it is not desktop level, it is one of the best performing mobile GPUs compared to similar GPUs in similarly built laptops
