Item arrived on the date committed. Packaging was good and system started up with no issues. Considered purchasing an extended warranty thru Geek Squad but cost seemed to be way out of line for similar warranties from other third party vendors.

An excellent gaming laptop for sure, but the thing is this laptop is kinda sus on heat dissipation, the GPU is so easy to reach 70-degree Celsius while playing Minecraft with BSL shader and Realistico resource pack (yes, even with the fastest fan speed).

Hands down the best laptop I have ever owned. Once you under volt the CPU, thing is quiet as hell. Been playing FFXIV and the fans barely turn on at max settings. I had the M17 R4 but turned it in as it was a bit too big, this one is nice and sleek, fits in my backpack.

The machine itself is ok. My main complaints are the poor video quality of the video camera and the battery life when using is about 1 hour before needing a charge.

Hello Tasha,
Thank you for taking the time to leave us your review. We apologize for the issues you have had with your Alienware M15 R4. To help with the battery performance issue you are experiencing, I have provided steps to help increase the battery performance and the full article for additional troubleshooting. As for the video quality trouble, we recommend making sure your video drivers are up to date on your system. I have given you a link to the Drivers and Downloads page for your PC so you can check for and do any applicable updates.
Change the Power Plan:
1. On the notification area of the taskbar, right-click the Battery icon.
2. On the options list, click Power Options.
3. Select a power plan on the battery meter, such as Power Saver or Balanced. Windows 10 has a built-in 'Battery Saver' mode that can be activated to extend your system's battery life. The Battery Saver mode will monitor and limit background activity and other features such as push notifications. You do have the option to enable or disable this mode within settings or within advanced Battery Saver settings, you can customize the mode to best suit your needs.
a) Click on the Action Center icon in the taskbar and select the tile for Battery Saver.
b) If running Cortana then type Battery Saver into the search box and select from the results.
Within the Battery Saver settings page, you will be able to turn on and off the feature and customize the feature to best meet your needs.
c) Turn Battery Saver On or Off.
d) Additional settings available via the Battery use and Battery saver settings links.
e) Battery use shows further info on apps and their power usage.
f) Battery Saver Settings screen allows you to customize further Battery Saver features.

To be fair on my assessment, I did purchase the unit Used-Fair condition. What I didn't expect was for the computer to run so poorly. It has one of the most unique, and honestly, pretty sleek looking shells. It has what looks to be a dedicated ventilation system exhausting out the back, and you can feel a good amount of heat coming out. My first impression would be the the unit would stay incredibly cool. To my surprise, it ran hotter than any gaming laptop I've owned. The exhaust helped push heat out of the back, making it a bit cooler to put on your lap, but to keep the system from overheating the GPU, I had to put it on a cooling mat, and it still ran hot. I wouldn't recommend this product if you are doing prolonged gaming over an hour, or running robust software.

Dear DGSKI,
Thank you for taking the time to leave us your review. We are truly sorry for the overheating issues you are experiencing with your Alienware M15 R4 Gaming Laptop. Your feedback about discrepancies in our products helps us improve with future developments. To help you with overheating issues, I have provided troubleshooting instructions with the full article that can resolve the issue.
Here are the steps to help resolve your overheating issue:
1. Update the system BIOS.
2. Configure Alienware Command Center.
•Open Alienware Command Center
•Set the Active System Theme - Thermal as Performance Mode
3. When the system boots up, using the preinstalled software Dell SupportAssist run the stress test.
•Dell SupportAssist > Hardware Checkup > CPU > CPU stress test
4. Launch the Alienware Command Center and go to Fusion and monitor the CPU frequency. Ensure that the CPU frequency is within the range during the first 5 minutes of underperformance mode.
5. Monitor the CPU temperature on the Fusion page
•The CPU peak temperature should be less than or equal to (≤) 100 ℃
•When under high stress, the system average temperature can be expected to be less than (≤) 100 ℃
•Note: The CPU average temperature can be expected to reach 95 ℃ under cool mode for the Alienware m15, m15R2, m17, and m17R2 systems

Very solid machine but I bit overpriced, gpu memory was micron not samsung, and the i7 is 10 generation so the price could be lower.

I love this laptop! I went from a hp that I had originally bought to this Alienware, and I could not be more happy I did so. Plus the team that helped me find both laptops genuinely cared about me and were so very fun and informational to help me find the perfect laptop.

Love it. The display is insane, the things you can do with it out do a lot of my friends custom build desktops. Some people seem to have problems as iv heard, so make sure you get a protection plan...worth every $ no matter what you buy.
