Amazing Laptop for any Gamer!

Alienware is one of the leaders in the computer gaming industry so I was excited to get my hands on the new M16 Gaming Laptop. This laptop is packed with top end processing power and graphics cards with a sleek and sophisticated design that will suit almost any gamer.
Initial unboxing and setup was simple and straightforward. Setup with Windows Pro took a few moments and was easy and breezy. First thing I always do with new computers is update bios and firmware for graphics cards and make sure everything in Windows is up to date. Once I had the appropriate apps and graphics drivers installed I was able to put the laptop through some rigorous testing and came away satisfied with the results. This laptop basically can handle anything you throw at it gaming wise. The RTX4070 barely breaks a sweat with any game. Apex Legends runs smooth as silk with no screen tearing whatsoever. Microsoft Flight Sim is beautiful, crisp, and clear on my 34 inch Samsung Monitor. The new Diablo 4 is stunning and runs like a champ. My personal favorite currently Hi-Fi Rush looks incredible as well! I don’t get too involved in FPS and hard numbers, I tend to trust what looks good to me and my gaming experience, but I did the benchmark
test website and the computer came up UFO on all categories.
Out the box this computer has 16 gigs of ram which works fine for all games but I will be using this laptop as an editing machine for photography so its nice to know there is 2 slots to expand the ram if
needed. There’s also an additional PCIe slot as well for expandability, which is a nice touch. The processor is an absolute beast and handles multi tasking easily as well. The computer has 2
Thunderbolt 4 ports and an HDMI 2.1 and 2 USB ports and an ethernet port. I’m currently using the HDMI out to HDMI mini on my Oled Samsung and its an amazing setup! Wifi 6 with Killer E3100G 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet Controller comes on the laptop as well which blends beautifully with my Eero setup we just got. I was getting over 600mb download speeds through wifi which is impressive! The monitor on the laptop is an unusual 2560x1600 but has a 165hz refresh rate and has wonderful brightness and colors. The speakers on the laptop utilize Dolby Atmos and sound fantastic. The front facing camera is only 720p which is a little bit of a letdown but still looked decent upon zoom testing. It’s also a nice touch that it comes with a SD card reader, which not all laptops do anymore. One thing I wanted to highlight on with this particular laptop is the Keyboard. I don’t think I’ve ever felt a better typing keyboard on a laptop in my life, and I’ve had over 10-15 laptops in my gaming/computer life. With the backlit and RGB colors it’s the best and totally customizable, it just feels like butter under your fingertips.
The only issue I would say with this laptop would be the size and bulk of the unit itself. The laptop itself is a smooth and sleek design but with a 16inch screen it’s a hefty machine weighing in at over 7
pounds. The power brick is a beast as well and makes this computer not exactly the most portable. With that in mind I would ideally see this laptop in a situation where you won’t be moving it very often.
All things considered I really think this is a great offering this year by Alienware. I would be hard pressed to find any gamer that wouldn’t be happy to be using this laptop and I think it’s a solid machine backed by a great warranty with Alienware. I highly recommend.

The Alienware laptop delivers exceptional gaming performance with its powerful hardware and sleek design. The graphics are stunning, and the display quality is top-notch. The keyboard is comfortable for long gaming sessions, and the overall build quality is solid. However, the battery life could be better, and it's a bit on the heavier side for portability. Overall, it's a fantastic choice for gaming.

My boyfriend and his brother refered this laptop to me while I was looking for one to game on. It runs quickly, the visuals are stunning, the track pad responds well and the sound is clear! The only thing thats a downside is how loud the fans are and how quickly the laptop dies, granted since im gaming on it it all makes sense. Overall I love this laptop as my first offical one to play games on!

Excellent gaming first laptop. It's important to understand that this is a desktop replacement. It's big, loud and heavy. With that in mind though, it is an excellent gaming laptop. I got it during black Friday for ~$1200 and it is an excellent deal at that price point. If you can get it on sale for anything less than $1500, I highly suggest this machine.

This version of the M16 might not be the very top of the line but it definitely holds it's own.
An Overclocked 5Ghz i7 processor, and a RTX-4070 GPU combined with a 16" QHD (2560x1600) 3ms display. What more could you ask for?-- oh right Dolby Atmos Sound and Dolby Vision.
The M16 R1 was able to play every game I threw at it, and it even played those games at their highest graphic settings. None of the game play was laggy or even glitchy. Everything ran smooth and worked fine. While not everything ran at the highest frame rate possible it still looked good. Most of the games ran around 100fps while some of the others were up to 160 and a one was down to 65fps, but nothing got it down to a sluggish or compromising frame rate.
Keep in mind those numbers were from trying to max out the visuals, much higher frame rates were possible by adjusting the performance over the visuals.
Here are some of the frame rates I got for these particular games(at MAX graphics settings):
1. Forza Horizon 4 = 112fps
2. Red Dead Redemption 2 = 160fps
3. Halo Infinite = 108fps
4. Forza Horizon 5 = 82fps
5. Assassin's Creed Valhala = 77fps
6. The Witcher 3 = 65fps
7. Destiny 2 = 90fps
8. Fortnite = 100fps
The display is amazing with it's QHD+ resolution, and Dolby Vision.
300nit display with 165Hz
The color depth, contrast and sharpness were very impressive.
The GeForce RTX 4070 is the third highest option for the M16 builds and is in the top 5
of best graphics cards on some benchmark websites during June of 2023
This unit comes with the 330 Watt power supply, which supplies ample power for constant overclocking and cooling capabilities without bottlenecking the system.
Quad fans and sophisticated cooling systems keep everything running smooth for hours.
The cooling architecture includes a vapor chamber, quad fans, and 7 heat pipes with 5 vents.
Alienware uses Element 31 for their thermal interface, which works great at helping to dissipate
heat through the cooling architecture and out of the machine. I experienced no issues at all
with any game or app due to an overheating issue.
Benchmark testing on the 1TB NVMe SSD returned results of 7136.55MB/s (Read) and 390.44MB/s (Write)
The SSD is removable and upgradeable to 9TB
The 16GB DDR5 tests averaged 57.2GB/s (read) and 46.8GB/s (write)
The memory is also upgradeable to a max of 32GB
Using different benchmark apps, this laptop performed great and yielded results within the top ten percentiles.
Passmark = 10948
PCMARK10 = 10398
The M16 works great out of the box, but for the best performance you might need to adjust some of the settings. It is also a good idea to play any of your more labor intensive games while connected to the power supply and plugged into an ethernet cable.
There is a quick way to activate the built in high performance mode by pressing the "F1" button.
You can also go into the included software to manually adjust how your machine acts.
killer Instinct - lets you set QOS features for your internet connection
Killer Instinct will try to prioritize game data by default, but you can adjust more settings in the app
Alienware - You can set the system performance and power modes. You can even set specific system settings
for each game in your library as well as set up specific RGB keyboard layouts.
GeForce Experience - Set In-Game Overlays, change performance levels, boost battery longevity,
stream to NVIDIA Shield, set GPU image scaling, and set whispermode
intel Graphics Command Center - change the onboard graphics settings
Xbox Game Bar - show in-game stats, capture video, take screenshots, and set overlays, mix chat audio,
and identify resource hogs for running tasks
settings - Game Mode (reduce background apps)
The M16 also has individual key RGB. This can be an excellent resource for certain types of games that utilize different keys for specific tasks. You can highlight all the keys and shortcut combinations you use with specific colors. Movement keys can be all blue, while shoot keys can be red, and inventory keys can be yellow, you can set the colors to pretty much anything you want in any type of combination. Through the Alienware app you can automatically set these types of profiles for each game, the way you want it.
The Dolby Atmos is actually pretty impressive for just being a laptop. While running the sound demo, and being close enough to the laptop, you can actually hear all the spacial audio in the directions intended. The audio is impressively loud as well. If you are sitting a ways back from the laptop a lot of the directional audio will be lost.
Overall this is a pretty impressive laptop with all the major upgrades needed to get the job done at a cost that's still way under the top of the line systems.

Gaming game-changer with high-end specs

I could not wait to get my hands on the new Alienware M16 R1 notebook packed with some the latest tech and specs after gaming on a version of their previous model over the past year. Some of the biggest upgrades from the previous years’ model are the newest NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 8 GB graphics card, the latest 13th generation Intel Core i7 processor which can provide up to a 5 gigahertz processing speed, 16GB DDR5 RAM, 1TB M.2 SSD and a 16” QHD+ 165Hz 2560 x 1600 display which all combine in unison to provide an incredible gaming experience. The Dark Metallic Moon colored chassis is identical to the previous model I was using which doesn’t scream gaming laptop except for the RGB Alienware logo on the lid. Like its predecessor, the M16 has an Alienware RGB backlit keyboard which is, as expected, customizable. The rear of the laptop, outlined by additional customizable RGB lighting, sports the power plug, a convenient, full size, SD card slot, one HDMI out, one Mini DisplayPort 1.4, one USB-A port and two USB-C ports. The left side hosts an ethernet slot, auxiliary audio jack and another USB-A port.
After setting the notebook up, including downloading all the updates, apps and games I frequent, I was ready to see what all the bells and whistles loaded inside this rig could do. I ran benchmarks and couldn’t believe how much more powerful the M16 was in comparison to my previous laptops’ benchmark scores; the M16 scored between 30-100% better than the gaming laptops I was previously using. After seeing those scores, I was becoming even more impatient waiting for my games to download. I running the first few games, I could immediately see why the scores were so high; gaming was incredibly smooth with virtually no lag or drag. I was surprised at how quiet the fans were considering there are four of them inside able to suck cold air out from the bottom and push it quickly out the side vents. In addition to the quad fans, Alienware has state of the art Cryo-tech cooling which includes a large vapor chamber and six heat pipes to control the temperature. I was also surprised at how good the sound is using Dolby Atmos technology to make you feel even more immersed in what you’re playing. I wanted to visually see how they packed all this high-end tech in a small, yet somewhat heavy (about 7 pounds), notebook. After opening the underbelly, you can see how all this plethora of tech was orchestrated and they even left a slot open to add an additional SSD if you wanted to expand and upgrade.
Overall, the new M16 is an absolute beast when it comes to gaming and should be able to handle anything you throw at it with ease. I can’t wait to see what Dell’s Alienware line has in store next and will be enjoying their latest work of art in the meantime.

First Gaming Laptop !

First pc laptop and pc gaming experience. Got this laptop on Black Friday for 1300$. Have and Xbox series and a ps5. The ps5 hdmi port broke and I always wanted to try gaming on pc.
It has a rtx 4070 intel i7 16 core and 16gb ram with 1 TB ssd.
Laptop has an enormous about of accessory ports especially being used to Mack. You can probably connect just about any device to this machine.
The screen is nice and bright it does not have a super glossy screen more antiglare but the image is very sharp clear and buttery smooth.
The key board is very nice to type on I have used a controller to game so far learning keyboard and mouse. The track pad is very large and very accurate and smooth to use.
Gaming played through 3 new games all games ran 80-100 fps solid with very minimal dips on high settings with ray tracing on. On ultra settings with ray tracing on get about 50-55 fps.
I haven’t used the machine much on battery power. The power brick is very large they sale a slim version but I haven’t taken mine any where yet to need the smaller one.
So far great machine used strictly for gaming no overheating issues fan noise is a little bit to get used to but it’s not high pitch so not annoyance and the speakers easily overpower any fan noise. Snappy feeling almost Mac level smoothness for navigating the iOS apps and web. Very happy with this purchase and looking forward to my next game !

Fast machine, Works well, but has loud fans when it gets cranked up. Sound is sub par especially since they put so much the extension of the keyboard/speaker area. Problem is that it doesn't fit in a standard carrying bag.
Overall, I am happy with the machine (it is fast, I will give it that). But some of the design flaws make it hard to recommend at full price (I did add a second NVME drive and upgrade the RAM to 32 GB).

The Alienware m16 R1 laptop is a beast. A remarkably great looking laptop, that I noticed instantly was Brilliantly Designed, Engineered and Solidly Built.
Alienware M16 pushes the envelope for gaming laptops and performance computing to a new level of fun. Runs Battlefield V smoothly at ultra setting with raytracing.

Benchmarks and real-world performance of this laptop run circles around most PCs and all other gaming laptops I have tested. An I7-13700HX processor, Nvidia 4070 and 16gb of DDR5 ram paired with a 165hz, 2560x1600, G-SYNC display, the gaming experience is as good as it gets. 16-inch screen with a 16:10 aspect ratio is the ideal size for gaming on the go. Even with all this tech the screen and bezels remain amazingly thin.
Cooling system is efficient and comparatively quiet compared to most other gaming laptops. Even on the high-performance profile fans don’t ramp up obnoxiously loud, especially if game audio is turned up. Fans exhaust out the back and sides of the case. Even under load, the deck of the laptop stays comparatively cool with the keyboard warming up slightly. Fan speed can be toggled to the max with the F1 key; however, the functionality is quite buggy with the functionality intermittently cutting out.
Aluminum and magnesium alloy construction with solid efficient cooling system build make this beast clock in at 7.28lbs. Quite hefty for a laptop yet expected when it packs this much of a punch. This construction results in zero deck flex. 330W charging brick is large as well.
RGB per-key backlit membrane keyboard is exceptional with a better feel than any other membrane keyboard I have tested and has superb key stabilization across the board. The trackpad is large and feels great too.
2 watt integrated stereo speakers sound pretty good for laptop speakers but are expectedly lacking a bit with deep bass and treble.
720p front facing camera and dual-array microphone won’t win any awards for picture or sound quality yet will suffice for web conferencing. Disappointed with the lack of Windows Hello facial recognition or fingerprint sensor at this price point.
Notes:
1. PCIe 5 gen - Future Proofed - See SSD CrystalDiskMark benchmark numbers posted in
Pictures
2. Unique RJ45 Connector design is a winner, allows for thinner build
3. Two User Manuals: Service Manual - Setup and Specs - Outstanding!
4. Does not come with Bloatware!
5. Nvidia Optimus - balances power usage between the Dual GPUs for longer battery life
6. Sound/volume control keys along right edge of Keyboard - Super Convenient
7. Alienware Command Center & SupportAssist are best in class for Gaming & Maintenance
mgmt.
8. BIOS is exceptionally detailed and easy to navigate
9. 802.11AX (WIFI 6)
10. Windows 11 Pro - Icing on the Cake
11. Memory and Storage are easily upgradable - well documented
Overall, the Alienware M16 is on the bleeding edge of technology with zero compromises.

I really like this laptop, even though I am not a gamer. I do audio and video editing and things that are good for gaming are good for editing. I especially like the bigger screen and the higher resolution. Also the speakers, although not really hifi, are OK to listen to and are real stereo. There are 2 things which keep me from the fifth star:
1. I like having ports in the back, but why put the Ethernet port on the side and the SD card reader in the back? It should be the other way around. I ended up buying a dongle that plugs into one of the rear USB C ports and has HDMI, Ethernet, two more USB C and two more USB A.
2. The power brick is literally a brick, and there does not seem to be a way to get a slim version at a reasonable price. I do off site presentations and the brick will not fit in my bag, although the laptop will. The battery life is not great, so running a show with just battery is taking a chance.

The Alienware m16 R1 (2023) is a nice, solid, hefty laptop. Even its AC adapter is pretty heavy. But I got it as a desktop replacement, so it will mostly just sit on a desk.
Battery life is not great. In my only test (until now), mostly just downloading games, it lasted about four hours. I don't really mind because, desktop replacement.
It can get a little loud, specially under heavy CPU and/or GPU load; but I'll rather have noise than melted microelectronics.
It feels speedy, its processors combo being latest gen, but I'll be testing that further in the future. Also, the display is nice. My unit doesn't (yet) shows abnormal backlight bleed as other people have reported in theirs.
So far, I'd recommend this model.

Purchased Nov 23, so eight months in and no issues. The M16 has been very reliable and multitasks very well. Playing AAA titles is no issue for this machine at max setting maintaining very high FPS. Don’t expect the battery to last long while gaming but with the screen brightness lowered just surfing the web, discord, email and light excel workloads I have to say I am impressed with the battery life for the mammoth that this laptop is. Alienware has seems to get a bad wrap the last few years but this laptop has restored my faith in the brand.

Runs great and have had no problems once so ever minus the fact this laptop weighs more than I expected it to. It’s great if you just want to set it up on your desk and can handle most games at full graphics settings without absolutely melting but I wouldn’t recommend using it on the go unless you want a few back problems from lugging this absolute unit of a laptop around! The battery also doesn’t last very long so keep that charger handy. Otherwise 10/10 would recommend
