I honestly couldn’t ask for a better laptop. The laptop looks beautiful and runs smooth as butter. After 10 hours of gameplay the laptop never became hot or hit any lag spikes. The RGB is fully customizable along with the thermal controls. Even on battery power I got 2 hours worth of gameplay before needing to charge which isn’t too bad considering the game I was playing. Best of all, I got this item on sale. Graphics are solid, GPU is fast and 10/10 for ease of use.

Great laptop with some caveats. I purchased this to be a desktop replacement while in this covid time. Unfortunately PC parts are out of stock all over so I went this rout to hold me over till next year when hopefully I can put together a High-end gaming desktop. Overall I cant complain. I wish there was a 32gig and 2080ti option through BB but unfortunately there isn't unless you purchase directly through Dell and wait a month or more. As stated this is the 16gig version and you cant upgrade the mem as its hard soldered in. Even though this is the case I think it fits my needs nicely and is able to run Most modern games at med/high settings all except Cyberpunk which is at low/Med but that's not a fault of the laptop. Acoustics are a bit high as it ramps up pretty good in launching a game but you can adjust these dependent on how well you want it to run. with some undervolting and some adjustments I was able to still run CP2077 at 65-68FPS. For under 2k its hard to beat and looks so much nicer then most portables out there. I have this pushing a CRG9 49 inch widescreen.

First of all - I GOT AN ALIENWARE LAPTOP!! Only my family kno how significant ths it, esp. since my last laptop was Sony Vaio frm 2012 tht served me vry well. The update/upgrade n tech laptops is vry much needed! And I always saw cast memebrs on TBBT using thm relentlessly (clever Product Placing). I find it pretty solid & weighted (I like hardware thts heavy; givs me a good feel 4 it), full of features & powerful capacity tht I hav only heard legends of. It does heat up a bit (not much), but I haven't fully pressed it yet except on one Game -POS2, but not a full try just yet. The colors r awesome, the speed phenomenal, the low noise is soothing, the audio - well, they could b better 4 the cash U dish out; should hav made thm HQ Surround, but I guess thts 4 the headsets with gameplay. Upgradable memory; needs 2 add one more USB port tho, again 4 the cash asking for (only THREE! BAH!); Warranty's CRAZY expensive; still debating it..who has tht much cash after such a purchase?? Took me literally months (and Unemployment Cheks tht r gone now) 2 come up with ths cash. As an Artist & aspiring Writer, the keys & functions are vry delightful, quick & ez. I look 4wrd to wrkng 3D programs on it, as the gameplay is really smooth. Video is evn better. So far, it's a Go! on ths one. Giv it another couple months & if I need 2 correct & update, I will.

After a couple of weeks of looking for an all around laptop which my son could do his schoolwork and other things he likes (gaming, video editing, movies etc) I decided to buy a Dell G7 gaming laptop with similar specs as this one and it over heated tremendously when he played any game. I replaced it with this Alienware gaming laptop and it runs smoothly and doesn’t overheat while gaming. He has had this laptop for a little over a week now with no issues. The fans are quiet and it runs smoothly. The price is up there but the laptop will last him for some time and it will be suitable as his uses and demands of the laptop evolves overtime.

There are a lot of good things about this laptop. It's not super heavy, yet specs are great. Full sized keyboard that's top notch with a nice, soft key press. Quality touchpad. Performance is excellent. That being said, Dell should do a better job with the display. For over $2,000, the backlight bleed in the corners is horrible, not to mention a dead pixel in the center of the screen. I just purchased a $999 MSI for my son and it has consistent lighting edges with minimal bleed. I've actually gone through 4 other Dell laptops with their 300Hz panel and more or less are all about the same. I have an older Dell budget laptop from 2016 I bought for my wife that doesn't even have these issues. Very disappointing in 2020 that QC has really gone downhill, especially in their flagship laptop series.

I did a lot of research before I bought this computer. Compared with MSI GE66, the quality of GE66 is very good and has high valuable. Even yesterday, the GE66 was reduced by $500, but I still insisted on buying this computer. First of all, I accept this one for its appearance design. It's so beautiful! And I still feel this one overall quality is higher. The 17 inch screen is why I chose him. Before my Rog was 15 inches, it was a little bit small for me. So I bought it with high expectations. I was so exciting to do the unboxing when I back to home. But then came the things that made me irritable. First of all, after I connected withWi-Fi, Windows told me that there were still a few very important steps to set up. Then the interface stays there, loading all the time. Loading for at least 20 minutes!! Then the computer became very hot!! I don’t know what’s going on! I had to turn it off manually. After the computer was rebooted, it was finally set up. Then I downloaded PUBG, and the game told me that my system was missing MSVCP140.dll. While I was researching how to fix this problem, the system updated the AMCC. Then I couldn't use AMCC anymore and kept loading! Before the update of AMCC, I turned the fan mode to performance. Because now the AMCC is not working, I have no idea how to turn this fan to the Quiet Mode. It’s so noisy now! I really don’t understand what kind of thing I got. I purchased almost $2,500, then I have to learn everything by myself to fix those problems. TBH, I didn’t do anything on this laptop yet. Is that I purchased $2,500 for a laptop learning course? Finally, I felt so disappointment is that light belt quality is so bad. The another reason I bought it is because I was attracted by the light belt. Then mine looks so wired. The left side is good, color is right. But left side just like the light belt is broke, color is not right and brightness is weak. Anyway, I’m done with this laptop. Even now, it just like a flight is taking off in front of me and I had no idea to turn it down. Terrible experience!

BEWARE: Your item may have been opened and returned, and not a brand new unopened item as expected! I’ll explain how I found out below: I placed an order and went to pick it up earlier today 9/5/20. I started up the computer and received an error message saying that hard drive is not installed and it won’t boot up the windows at all. I called Dell customer service and spent about an hour on the phone with the guy; he told me to do many different steps and even download some software from another PC onto an USB to try to get this issue fix but was still unable to resolve it. I went on Dell website to check this product details and I found out that this device warranty have been activated on 8/19/20 and it said someone requested a “On Site Service After Remote Diagnosis...” So, how did I just got this item today yet the warranty is already activated about 2 weeks ago and it looks like someone requested a diagnosis to fix an issue as well. I wonder if BestBuy knew of this problem or not? Why did BestBuy not send this product back to Dell but continue to put it in the store to sell it as brand new? Made me wasted my entire day to go pick it up and try to set it up and to get it fix. Horrible experience. I’ll return this item tomorrow and I will let the staff know so they won’t put this supposed defect device up for sale on the website again. However, I gotta say, this laptop looks gorgeous. When I power it up, the lighting and everything look great. I will order this item again but straight from Dell website instead..that way I know the item is have not been used before..

I bought the 2020 Alienware - m17 R3 one week ago and returned it the second day of owning the laptop, the laptop feels cheap and is very heavy when compared to most other gaming laptops and the intel control panel has many issues with compatibility so don't expect to be able to adjust you're screen settings and yes every 2020 m17 R3 has the same compatibility issue and the screen isn't that clear and looks kind of fuzzy and the back lighting is horrible, for just 300 or 500 dollars more someone can buy a much better laptop. After I returned the laptop I traded it in for the MSI GS66 10SFS and let me tell you I couldn't be happier.

this is my 4th ALIENWARE in about 5 days (3) m15's due to bad qa issues, but this is the first m17 though and let me tell you, this thing is amazing in every which way but 2. This is basically a desktop replacement with a "battery backup" the battery will yield you about 2 hours of youtube, netflix, but thats about it. The second not so great thing about this computer is the screen. Colors are great, but its kind of mute, (i just came from a 4k oled) that might be why i am having trouble adjusting to the screen. The blacks are not great on this screen, but oh man 300hz is no darn joke. the refresh rate makes up for the bland screen. Keyboard is among the best i have every tried, (the m15 keyboard is better however) touchpad is amazingly accurate. performance rivals or is just better than any other laptop best buy has to offer. With EVERYTHING I HAVE THROWN AT IT i have never seen the hardware hit anything higher than 89c. it is not loud what so ever. Build quality is up there with razer.

Alright, so like another person has said, I originally bought a Dell G7 7700 from best buy. I went through 3 of them, 2 for screen issues that as soon as I booted up the laptop I saw them, and one for overheating issue like someone else had mentioned. I have been using this computer for a few days now. I game on it mostly, but on the side I do some photo work. which since this computer with i the 300hz screen, has the 100% overage on srgb, and after calibrating it looks phenomenal. There is a little backlight bleed since it is an ips panel. I feel the backlight bleed on my unit is very tolerable. Unlike the G7 this computer allows you to undervolt the CPU which helps a lot with thermals. I was able to get a 100mv undervolt and keep the CPU at around 80-85c under load and the GPU at around 70-75. Which is still high for the CPU, but nowhere near as hot as the G7 which ran at nearly 100c while trying to game. Performance of this machine is top notch. I don't get the stutters I got with the G7, and I feel it is worth the premium over the Dell G7. The keyboard is an absolute dream to type on. My wife owns a MacBook pro and even she likes the keyboard on this a lot more. This for me replaced a desktop, I needed something a little more mobile and something that didn't take up a lot of space and this does just that. The build quality is also great. It feels sturdy, and the screen, has little to no screen flex. The only concern I have with this laptop is the Luner white. I just hope it can hold up with time.

Dell has greatly improved this over the R2. Much better cooling and excellent GPU overhead makes this a killer gaming rig. The display is fast with no noticeable ghosting and bright enough for outdoor use. The keyboard and glass trackpad are excellent and the keys are well spaced and have a nice tactile feel. There are two negatives: the RAM and WiFi card are soldered and not upgradeable, and the battery life is pretty bad, as there is no MUX switch and the 2070 Super is wired directly to the display. This means that that power hungry GPU runs all the time. There is currently no way to use integrated graphics to extend battery life. So as long as you don't expect to spend all day away from an outlet, this is a fantastic machine.

I loved it so much, I returned it because I am going to buy an even better version of the same model! That being said, this one is near perfect as-is. The chassis is premium and refined. It boots in no time and runs like a dream. A bundle of non-burdening and well-made Alienware software came installed, but otherwise no bloatware. I certainly could have kept it, but when it comes to hardware, I am often hungry for unnecessarily excessive breathing room, longevity, and futureproofing. I'm moving to a version with double the memory, a decent storage increase, per-key RGB keyboard, and a mildly better processor. Do I need to?... No! I would have been fine with this for several years, I bet. This one crushed everything I threw at it with headroom left over. I kept it on a cooling pad, and save for noticeable (not loud or irritating) fan noise, it never felt strained. While running a gaming chat app, your normal array of background programs, and any one of several graphically demanding games, there were no hints of a slowdown. The only drawback, in my opinion, is the soldered and non-upgradeable RAM, which was the primary motivation in my decision to upgrade my brand new machine, lol. I rarely write reviews. I'm picky about value, and the last time I bought a gaming laptop was ten years ago. My desktop is equally great so I wasn't shopping too seriously, but after seeing this and doing plenty of research, my gut felt good about this purchase, and it was right. If you're a person who is happy with good enough, consider this laptop well beyond good enough. Truly recommended, A+, six stars if I could. And, if it happens to go on sale anytime soon, or you find an acceptable Open Box? That would just be a steal.

Overall I really enjoy using this laptop. I think that for the price you pay you get a great quality machine. I am able to run all of my favorite games with 120fps and up. This thing really is a beast. I also have a gaming desktop (which is a few years outdated) and this laptop runs better than my desktop. So if you want a powerhouse laptop for a good price this is the laptop you want. The only bad thing that I would have to say about this laptop is the noise. When playing intensive games the laptop gets very loud. While using web browsers or anything simple, it’s perfectly fine, but just while gaming it is unreasonably loud. Since I have a headset on it does not bother me but it bothers my girlfriend who is usually with me. So if you plan on playing in your library, this is not the laptop for you. One more thing to note which is up to how you plan on using the laptop is battery life. The computer only has a battery life of 2 hours and does not run as well when not plugged in. So if you plan on using this laptop on the go, it is not the laptop for you. This laptop is meant to be almost a desktop replacement with the ability to easily be moved from place to place.

Holy Batsheet this thing screams. Great value for the money. I was a little apprehensive reading a few reviews talking about the display quality. I am NOT a gamer guru, know nothing about that basically. I had a Microsoft Surface 4. The MS4 was small, a great travel companion and lasted a long time on battery power. My use requirement has changed to portable trading platform. I needed the large monitor / graphic power to push another monitor or 2, while on the road. This heavy beast is not what you want to be packing with you on a 4 mile hike or a daily commuter. Battery Life is terrible. DO NOT GET IT if you will not be close to an outlet. I think it lasted 45 minutes blasting computing power and screen brightness. maybe an hour plus with power saver settings reigned in. HOWEVER - I need BIGASS computing power streaming a few hundred stock quotes, displaying multiple charts/threads each with multiple complicated calculation parameters that must each be displayed in all charts simultaneously, and change the instant new data is fed in (every second or 2). THIS MACHINE IS A HOME RUN for that. I am used to clicking on a stock symbol, with a fast data connection it takes maybe 2 seconds to display on my old machine. NOT THIS THING.. BANG, BANG, BANG as I click through my watchlist looking for a very specific condition. The monotony is gone - this workhorse gets me through my 300 names at the end of the day and I'm off to play, NOT waiting on my computer to cipher it all out. LOVE IT. Additionally, I happened on to X Box games, for windows 10- I have become a FORZA 4 madman. Buy it.

Paying extra for the alienware name. But phenomenal power, cooling could be better but it doesnt throttle like the G7. Ive limited my CPU to only put out 90% power and it seems to keep it at 70 or lower while gaming. Overall, great machine. Love the 17in screen and all the RBG effects that come with Alienware. Be warned though, battery life is crap while gaming. And although the 300HZ screen is nice youll rarely hit that 300FPS for it.
