Been using this laptop for 2 weeks now and I must say it’s a beast of a machine. If you mainly want a laptop to game on this is the right choice. The only thing I must say it can get pretty hot if you play a game on ultra settings for a long period of time. Other than that it’s a solid laptop, and it has good build quality and good loud speakers aswell. If you can afford it, this is a solid laptop to pick up. Cheers

I am in love with this laptop!! Looks and feels amazing! I always get a compliment when I use it out in public. Works super fast, quiet, only issue is it gets a little warm so I had to buy a cooling fan stand for it, which all in all, just helped the laptop to be in a better position for me when I set it down. And it could use a better battery, lasts about an hour without it being plugged in. Would definitely reccommend!

Really nice laptop, very quick, my first m.2 harddrive and just love the speed! It feels a little flimsy on the monitor so open with both hands on the side or in the center with 1 hand recommended. Gets very hot, I use the box or on hard surface. The battery doesnt last long with games but thats not suprising considering the level of graphics I play at and I expected that i was going to be plugged in most of the time when I bought it.

I thought the hardware was great, keyboard, screen, performance. What I didn’t like was the software experience, I had an error during an update and had to reset the computer. Ran into several other software issues but finally solved after some trial and error. Great performance to price value.
Ultimately I returned due to wanting a smaller footprint and not the experience I was looking for.

Only had this for about a week, but I bought it for my brother and we are extremely satisfied with our purchase. It was a Geek Squad certified refurbished/open box product, but it holds true to its listing as being as good as brand new. Only the box was somewhat banged up from shipping, which did no harm to the laptop itself.
He uses it for video editing, school work, and gaming and it holds up in every aspect as a true performance work horse. We were most surprised by how sleek and light this laptop is! Some reviews say it is bulky/heavy, but having owned other Alienware Laptops, we were prepared for there to be some heft to it, but the M17 R3 is much thinner and lighter than what we were expecting so that was a huge plus. The physical details and appearance are classic Alienware goodness with a unique design and almost translucent color that is stunning.
So far we have no complaints and highly recommend this gaming notebook to anyone who is on the fence about buying it.

Bought this strictly for gaming, I returned it for 2 reasons I felt the 17 inch was to big and heavy for me, ran super hot and a software glitch. I didn't like that you couldn't upgrade the Ram as it's soldered on. The machine handled games like a pro but againnruns really hot

Works just as well as my desktop system. Graphics are great! Love having keypad - I use it all the time! The fan goes on quite a bit and its a little noisy, but I'm so accepting of it given everything else that comes with it in a slim, light device (my last gaming laptop was nearly 10 pounds and a pain to travel with). Love it.

Never have I been so impressed by a laptop. The keyboard. AMAZING. The 300hz screen. AMAZING. The user experience. AMAZING! So fun to game on, then when it's time to get down to business, I went to work and got my type speed up to max speed really quickly on one of the most comfortable keyboards ever. Love the RGB lighting, it makes it fun to play on and use in general. It's an expensive product though, but well worth it when you consider the internals.
How it compares to other devices? Dell/Alienware does it right. They don't just try to make a flashy device with no use outside gaming. I'm a student who could easily type a 10 page essay on this thing comfortably at my desk, and then plug in my camera to do some photo editing. The screen needs to be calibrated if that is your intention, but its seriously great for quick jobs right out of the box. Razer Blades have crappy keyboards, Asus doesn't put webcams in their devices, and HP just can't match other companies quality.
I promise, invest in this laptop, it will be the best. Hands down. You crushed it Alienware!

While the battery life is not great , i really do not care as this is a true gaming laptop, runs call of duty warzone at 144fps with ease, the performance profiles are amazing depending on how cool you want the thermals to be and better yet 1080p 300hz never felt so right!

This is my first gaming laptop and way to go on exceeding my expectations! Super easy to setup, may not be as easy for people who don't know too much about computers but you can still set it up and use it immediately. The Alien FX is a plus and a nice sexy style to it. The fan sounds like a turbo engine spooling up but doesn't bother me. Definitely get a good cooling pad with this laptop, you can monitor the temp in the Alien settings.
One thing I don't appreciate about this laptio.is the only thing you can add to it is an SSD card. You can't change out the GPU or RAM. What comes with it works perfectly fine but no upgrading to a 32 gig RAM anytime soon. All-in-all, it is still an amazing laptop and I've ran games from Age of Empires to Cyberpunk 2077 and not a single hiccup.

Overall, I am greatly satisfied with this product. It runs super-well (though a bit warm and loud, it still is not as loud as my last laptop due to the SSD), looks sleek, and isn't too heavy for its size.
My biggest, and only, complaint is that my wi-fi card died less than a week out of the box. Granted, that is covered by the GeekSquad coverage, but it was still disappointing that less than a week after opening it, such an important part of it was nonfunctional. I am online now, but if it wasn't for that, this computer would an easy 5 stars.

Bought this version for school work and wanted it for fun for gaming. This laptop does heat up even though it says it’s controlled better. I have kept an eye on CPU temps and especially during fortnite plugged in it still gets up to 85-95 degrees. I keep on a desk for the most part and keep it on performance while gaming and it still gets hot. I still love it for school work. Has windows and love customizing my keys. Overall still a slimed out version of pervious Alienware laptops. Great big screen and performs well for school and professional work.

went through a couple laptops, zephyrus, g75 stealth and alienware r2, all of them would hit 95-100 degrees on the CPU, but this laptop stays around 85 running modern warfare at ultra with 140+ fps, superposition score at 1080p medium just above 17,000
More powerful than alot of top of the line desktops and the screen is amazing especially at 300hz
A++ highly recommend, but it is pricey, stay away from the r2 n get an r3, thermals are so much better

Excelent gaming laptop. Has the right power both gpu and cpu wise to handle any game on ultra settings but it comes with a downside. It will drain your battery extremely fast. Hour life averages about an hour while gaming on the highest settings. It does run warm-hot on the vents unless you turn up the fan speed. I bought an after market laptop holder eoth usb fans and i jave no issues temp wise while gaming on ultra for pronged periods of time.

This laptop is amazing! For me, upgrading from an older laptop with a HDD, to this laptop has made huge leaps in load times! While gaming my load screens have been cut in half. The 2070 Super makes for beautiful graphics, and the 300hz screen is beautiful. The only downside is the battery life; it dies pretty quickly while gaming. However it’s a small trade-off for all the power this Alienware delivers.

The response time is so much faster playing wow and cod. I had the older m17 r5 and can definitely tell the difference between lag and the graphics are amazing. Lightweight compared to the older generation. Doesn’t feel as “durable” as the older body material, but still solid laptop. Not bulky in comparison to older Alienware laptops (I’ve had a few in the past.) Color changing LED’s are more customizable, but would have still loved to be able to change the letter color of logo.

I had to replace a different laptop I Had with this one and despite a massive price difference it runs pretty well and I’m now able to do things that I wasn’t able to do before, only thing is to make sure you bring your charger at all times if you’re going anywhere,
Only downsides which is with pretty much any laptop is it does heat up. Recommend investing in a nice laptop cooler that is 17” or bigger
